Recent Review: We have been very impressed by the quality of Just Building. We had met with several contractors to discuss our kitchen remodeling project and ultimately decided to go with Just Building because this was the only company that provided a very clear and detailed quote for their services and Cam was extremely proactive in reaching out to us to discuss any questions or concerns we had. The positive impression we had during the pre-contract interactions gave us enough confidence to trust the company with our house key and kickoff the kitchen demolition while we were away on our planned summer vacation. Cam was great and kept us in the loop on any issues and matters requiring our decisions. After our lengthy time away, we returned home and met Carlos (and others) working on our kitchen for the first time. Worked with Carlos and he is probably one of the most well-mannered individual I have spoken with. He is extremely patient in answering questions and very detail-oriented. The crew are great; absolutely professional and punctual. They always cleaned up at the end of the day and kept the site neat. What I like most is how Cam and his crew tackled unforeseen issues, and coming up with creative and effective solutions to meet the homeowners’ desire. The results were seamless and unless one was aware of the issues, one couldn’t tell the additional effort put in just simply from looking at the end product. There was great attention to detail and excellent workmanship. The end results were better than we anticipated and Just Building delivered a stunning kitchen at the completion of the project.

Recent Review: For the past several years we've enjoyed the kitchen that Colonial Carpentry remodeled for us in 2015. We live in a 100+ year old farmhouse whose kitchen previously had ancient plumbing, lead paint and a comically inconvenient layout. Colonial Carpentry did a complete kitchen gut and we have a new enlarged layout, windows, new electrical & plumbing, and of course new cabinets fixtures, countertops, floors. I will cut to the chase: the new kitchen is gorgeous--open, light, airy, functional, basically the hub of our family life. Not only would we hire Bob again, we HAVE hired Bob again for additional work on our home. Bob brings a trove of specialized knowledge and a genuine love and respect for old houses. He worked with us as he uncovered and addressed the innumerable complications that are part of renovating an old home: the floor was sagging, the ceiling had an insufficient number of carrying beams for the design, there was more termite damage in an exterior wall than we'd imagined. He worked skillfully with the design from our architects, and was imaginative when the original design fell short in some way. The infrastructure of the kitchen is great. Bob brought excellent subcontractors on site (a local electrician and a plumber) and everything works. The finish work is beautiful. He found reclaimed cherry board for the flooring, tested a number of finishes, and the floor is one of the most beautiful aspects of the kitchen. Along the way, when we didn't like how something looked, Bob would fix it until we were happy. Somewhere in the middle of any kitchen remodel, I understand that every homeowner wants to get a divorce from their contractor. This happened to us, too. The first few weeks, when demolition brings dramatic change every day, give way to a grueling late-middle period when visible progress is less clear and you are sick of eating pizza that fits in a toaster oven. Realistically, with an old house and a complete gut and layout change, there is just unpredictable stuff that the contractor is going to discover, and fixing those makes the schedule slip. Also, pro tip: don't go on vacation the first week of the new remodel, because things come up, you aren't there, and the team has to proceed and make decisions. Bob stayed in communication with us throughout the remodel and was very clear about every unexpected snag and could present us with options about how to proceed. We had a minimum of the (dreaded) change orders. Costs came in very close to the original quote. In sum, we are happy with the work, we are delighted with the kitchen and the money we spent, and we still have a good relationship with our contractor.

AKitchen Counsel
We just finished our kitchen makeover with Kitchen Counsel. We couldn't be happier with the outcome! It looks fantastic. From the initial visit to give us a quote to his final finishing details, Mike Talmadge was thorough, responsive and easy to work with. We obtained three quotes and Mike's price was very competitive. However, his standard of quality was very high. We love the cabinets and his suggested storage ideas have really made our kitchen seem bigger. This being our first redo, we were a little afraid of taking on such a huge project, but Mike guided us through the process and worked with our flooring contractor to make it a seamless transition. He and his workmen cleaned up each day so we weren't greeted with a big mess. Whenever we had a question or concern, Mike was speedy in responding and worked to make it right. I would not hesitate to recommend Mike and his team for any kitchen makeover. You won't regret it!

We love everything about our new kitchen! Working with Joy made things so easy. She is knowledgeable and very responsive. She listened to our ideas and made great recommendations to further improve the project. She stayed in constant communication and handled any issues that arose. The workers Kitchen Encounters used were extremely professional and friendly -- and they kept our space very clean. All of the work that was done is top notch -- we love everything about it. Even better, they finished the project early and stayed close to our budget.

AKitchen Counsel
Mike was very professional, and knowledgeable. Mike came out ,and gave me a quote on installing my cabinets, and hooking up my dishwasher, microwave, and all the plumbing, and electrical for my sink. We hit a few snags in the begining, but Mike quickly fixed them. I could be happier with the job Kitchen Counsel did installing my cabinets. Very responsive to phone calls, and very personable.

I don't usually write reviews, but I had to make an exception for Mike and Kitchen Counsel. If you are looking for someone who does quality work, is reliable, keeps to a time frame, is pleasant to deal with, stands behind his work and all this for a reasonable price, then call Mike at Kitchen Counsel. He makes suggestions when asked, listens to what you tell him and follows through always with a smile and "no problem". He completely redid my kitchen and was I am very happy with the job that he did. I am enjoying my kitchen very much!

We had a wall taken down to expand kitchen. Everything went great. Tom really knows what he's doing. He take care of getting everyone in to do job (electrician etc.) Has a kitchen designer to work with who is also very good. We are extremely happy with the end result and would definitely use him again for another project. His price was also very good.

AJack O’Trades
He was very pleasant and on top of things. For the work that we needed done, he needed to check to see if he was licensed in our area. It turned out he was not and I believe it may have had something do to with the fact that it was a condo. We really wanted to work with him, but were happy that he was honest about the licensing.
