Business Description: Central City Millworks, LLC was started after Hurricane Katrina. At that time, it was difficult to find a consistent supplier of milled details that could match the uniqueness of New Orleans architecture. Central City Millworks acquired top of the line machinery along with an established, experienced and creative design team to continue the level of yesteryear craftmanship. Central City Millworks provides quality millwork to contractors, architects, and homeowners. We are proud to be one of New Orleans' premier providers of custom cabinets, stile and rail doors, sashed windows, plantation style shutters as well as any desired profile of interior and exterior standing and running trim. We have recently completed the fabrication and installation of the interior architectural millwork, store fixtures, wall coverings, and all trim applications for the World War II Museum. At this time we have several commercial projects nearing completion, including, Wilson Elementary, Port Sulfur Government Building, St. Bernard Middle School and the St. Bernard Goverment Complex. Today, we have the expertise and knowledge, along with plenty of resources to devote to upcoming projects. Central City Millworks is a single source manufacturer who fabricates, finishes, and installs all work to the latest AWI quality standards. Recent Review: Called him on Monday finished by Thursday. He fabricated a great iron handrail for an irregular flight of steps in front of my house. This was a custom job. He used top quality materials and finished as and when promised. We had a deadline. He met it. Worked in the evenings as well to ensure the job was completed when we needed it. It's a great rail of about ten linear feet plus rungs and a reinforcing bar. It looks really great and had added a lot of value to out home as well as made it a safer place. We only required a fairly simple style but had we wanted to go fancier he certainly has the skills to do this. He leaves the work site clean and stand behind his work. I'm so glad we called him instead of trying some prefab kit that really would not have lasted. His work will last.

I'm extremely happy with the work Elbert's team did and with all my interactions with Elbert himself. The team does good work at a good pace, and Elbert himself was always willing to talk about any difficulties and propose solutions for me to choose from. I would absolutely recommend him and he would be my first choice for carrying out any future improvements or repairs to my home. AHC was not the cheapest bid I recieved, but it was fair, believable, and fixed-price. The only change orders we had to do were one for removing the wall (since the work couldn't be estimated initially without bringing in a structural engineer) and another later on when I decided to ask Elbert to have his team put bamboo flooring on the staircase they built. Both were within my expected ranges.

ACastillo Construction LLC
From the beginning Alfonso Castillo was easy to talk to and very direct and talented at describing what should be done in a way I could easily see it in my head. Once the job was started he made all of the decisions seem simple to me, and when it came to the financing schedule he walked me through each phase in a professional and easy to understand manner. I couldn't believe they were completely finished within 3 months and my building looked like it was completely brand new with flawless floors, new metal stairs, a new roof, and all new electrical wiring, plumbing and fixtures. They even suggested and installed a stucco finish around the entire exterior of the building which completely changed the entire look of my property into a very nice and trendy apartment building for my residents to live in. Even the painting and trim-work looked as if it could be in a million dollar house. I am very happy!

Great quality work and attention to detail. Looks fantastic and very sturdy. It only took about a day for most of it. They listened and took feedback to make sure they were doing it the way we wanted. They even helped my wife get a large delivery from UPS up the steps while they were working.

Tony was easy to reach and work with. His crew was punctual and efficient. They secured my existing iron stair railing and painted it black. Hire Tony and his crew!

AKerner Construction & Renovation LLC
Mr. Kerner was very professional, courteous, and so was any helper he brought in with him. He did a wonderful job, was meticulous and did not cut corners.  He stayed long hours, making sure to fulfill deadlines,  cleaned up the work area when the job was finished.  His work is impressive, strong structures, careful details.  After he was done, he even was conscientious to the point of organizing the wood leftovers that would be picked up for discard by  the main contractor crew (which operate the trailer and remove the debris from the jobsite), to make it easier for them and to make the yard less cluttered for us.  Even when the contractor forgot to give him some essential information, that affected the angle in which the staircase needed to be done (to leave room for installation of a medical lift to be coming later on), causing him to have to dismantle part of the structure and rebuild it, Mr. Kerner never manifested discontentment, keeping to himself any frustration that anyone would feel in his place, having to undo and redo part of his work - which is no ta  common quality I have found with contractors, usually very vocal and not too careful about it - He was always mindful of his language, which was  very considerate and respectful, and I would, and will, consider him for any job we may need done in the future.

AA1 Iron Works
We obtained the materials ourselves, cut and fit all of the pieces. Orestes welded them together for us. When I first called, he answered the phone promptly. Said he would call back to set a time to come look at the job. He came to our house to give us a quote, we agreed on the price and set the date and time when he would come back to do the work. He arrived at the appointed time and did the job. It is wonderful to find a craftsman who is willing to do small jobs.

I called Tony for a repair on a back porch hand rail. He arrived the next day promptly, text me before he arrived, and did the job quickly. We knew he was on a tight schedule, but he made the time since he knew this was a safety issue for my disabled husband. He is so friendly and professional, we also hired him to redo our wrought iron handrail for the front. I will hire him again for any fence or iron work.

DOne Man & A Toolbox LLC
I was not going to write a review, as we did not hire this company, but after the way I was treated I thought it necessary. Everything started off well, Randy was very punctual and polite. He came to give me an estimate on 4/16 for tread and crown molding installation. I explained to him exactly what I wanted done and he joked that mine was a small job (throughout the meeting he asked at-least three times if this is all.) He took pictures and wrote down what needed to be done. He told me that I would have the estimate by that Wednesday, 4/18. When I had not heard from him I texted him asking for the estimate around 5 that evening. I did not hear back from him until 9 the next morning saying that I will have the estimate by days end. I did not hear from him or receive any estimates. I texted him AGAIN on 4/20 stating that I still had not received the estimate and never heard back from him. I called him twice on 4/22 and both times I was sent to voicemail. I called again this morning and again was sent to voicemail. I left a voicemail stating that I was interested in getting work done and requested that he call me back. A few hours later I received a call back from the company. Randy, the original person who came out, never even bothered to call me back but instead sent my number to the answering service for the company. When I spoke to them this morning and explained that I had already had someone come out and that I just needed my estimate, their demeanor changed. The woman over the phone had an attitude and treated me poorly. She told me that they had already sent me my estimate via email, but then in the same breath told me that she could not find me in their system. After I gave her all of my information again she finally sent me my estimate. For every job I get done in my home I get at least three estimates. This was the highest BY FAR- $3000 for five stair treads (no banisters included) and $1000 for crown molding installation in just one room and I would have to provide all materials. For comparison I received another estimate from an Angie's list certified, super service award recipient for $1200 for the stairs and $400 for the crown molding installation. Long story short, DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY IF YOUR JOB IS "SMALL". THEY WILL RAISE THE PRICE BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WANT TO WORK ON SMALLER JOBS. THEY WILL IGNORE YOUR PHONE CALLS/TEXT MESSAGES, LIE ABOUT SENDING ESTIMATES, AND CATCH AN ATTITUDE IF YOU CALL THEM OUT ON IT. VERY RUDE 0/10. I do not know how this company still has an A rating. This company has over 200 positive reviews, I wonder how many of them are actually legitimate.
