Recent Review: They waterproofed my basement and my crawlspace. They sealed off my crawlspace completely and they came back each year to check up on the work. When they came out they were able to beat or match other estimates I had already received. They went under the house for at least an hour and took pictures of the crawlspace, which I had never seen. He showed me my water line which was very high!!! I had mold, standing water, and all types of problems. These guys came out and did a great job, and definitely helped me save money.

Recent Review: Everything went as planned; workers were invariably polite, professional and just flatly first rate. They showed up when they said they would, informed me if they weren't coming due to inclement weather, and the job (a considerable amount of work) was done in the amount of time they estimated almost to the day. Concrete replacement work was carefully done. I would add: there was no hard sell, no slick reports: just a professional who came to the house, did the estimate, and stated when the work would begin. They were slightly more expensive than some local firms, but I appreciated that they didn't waste my time suggesting cheaper "band-aid" approaches to what was a very serious problem. They looked at the situation, said what needed to be done, explained everything clearly and succinctly. And, they guarantee their work for the life of the structure.

Recent Review: Workers arrived on time and worked steadily over two days to do waterproofing. Foreman was polite and professional and kept me informed of progress. Work on downspouts was added to project after discussion with foreman. Every effort was made to contain dust.  I am pleased with the work and hopeful that it has solved my wet basement problems.

Stopped all leaks. We had to retile floor after they concreted repaired area. They concreted at floor level we requested. One year later, had smell from cracked drain line. They came immediately and repaired to our satisfaction. No leaks with 2-3 inch rainfalls. Can use basement again.

AB-Dry System Of SW Indiana
The overall experience was good . I haven't tested the system yet to see if it works. It took much longer to do the work than originally expected, which was a surprise to them. The salesman told me there was not going to be much dust, and there was a lot of dust. The salesman didn't make it clear what I really should prepare for. The workers were fantastic and accommodating. They tarped off the areas that I didn't want dust in. They were very accommodating with the jackhammer when we asked them to use it while we were at lunch. The job looks fantastic. They always answered my phone calls. They did not charge more, even though they lost a whole day because of having to do extra work. They were very good at letting me know what was happening, or if I had to be aware of something. The only complaint I have is that the salesman didn't let me know what to prepare for, other than that, everything was fine. They did a lot of extra work and deserve an A.

They did a good job and they did the work in a timely fashion.  It was a good experience.  It was a pretty messy job.  They actually had to create like a ditch around my whole basement wall inside.  They put down basically a pipe that drains the water from my basement to my sump pump.  It looks great.  It's been a year now since I have had any water problem in my basement.  It was definitely worth my money.  They did a really good job because they had to do it during the day when we were at work.  When we got home, everything was cleaned up as much as they could.  We didn't have mess upstairs where we were living.  We didn't get any official quote, but got an idea what would other companies charge.

The price was kind of on the high side but they did a very complete inspection. They even found that I had a termite problem. Because they offer so many other services, they checked things I had not thought about. They let me know the things that were essential to do and also things that were optional and could be done later. They broke the pricing down to what each thing would cost. Even though they were higher, I went with them for that reason. The work has not yet started.

BHealthy Spaces
On April 14 I  met with Scott Thompson of Healthy Spaces to get an estimate on waterproofing my basement.  My basement is mostly finished with panelling and carpeting.  After measuring the space, Scott gave me an estimate of $4862.  He told me I would have to move all furniture 48" away from all outside walls but I would not have to remove the panelling or carpeting.  The carpeting could be pulled back from the walls to do the work.  He also mentioned a discount if I paid the deposit up front and the rest at completion of the work. I got estimates from two other companies, and both of them required me to remove the panelling and carpeting before they could do the job.  This is the main reason I chose Healthy Spaces to do the work, along with their A rating on Angie's List and the Better Business Bureau. On May 12 a crew from Healthy Spaces arrived to begin the work.  The first thing Steve asked me when he walked down into the basement was if they were supposed to remove the panelling.  I told him what Scott told me about not needing to do that.  He said he absolutely could not do the job without removing part of the panelling.  Since it was cut the panelling or not get the job done, I agreed to let them cut my panelling. When they dug the hole for the sump pump, they found I had a monolithic foundation.  When I googled it, I found that, although fairly uncommon, a monolithic foundation is detectable by looking at the lowest block in a concrete block wall.  If it is at least 8" tall, it is likely to be part of a monolithic foundation.  Blocks less than 8" indicate a non-monolithic foundation.  Obviouslly this is not without exceptions, but if questionable, drilling a pilot hole in the concrete floor would provide the answer.  I would like to think that identifying a monolithic foundation would be crucial in determining the type of waterproofing system to use and definitely something to consider when giving an estimate. Unfortunately the system that Healthy Spaces brought to my house was one that could not be used with my foundation.  This system required digging a trench with jack hammers all around my basement walls.  Once the system was installed, in the trench, it would be covered with concrete.  The baseboard-like system that had to be used in my basement is above the ground and was fastened to the floor with epoxy.  It required less materials and less labor.  Since they didn't have the baseboard system in stock, they had to order it, postponing the completion of the job for 9 days. i was told by Steve that the other system was not going to be more expensive - it should be less.  My brother-in-law was with me when I was given that information.  Steve also said that Scott Thompson would contact me because I would have to sign  a different contract.  Scott called me several days later and told me that the price would remain the same even though he thought the baseboard system was more expensive.  I couldn't understand how that could be with so much less material and labor involved.  Also when the sump pump was installed, the original plan was to have it drain away from my house by means of a trench that would run approximately 20 feet out to the street in front of my house.  Since I already had an underground pipe leading out to the street, dug by another contractor in an attempt to channel water away from the foundation, all Steve had to do was run his sump pump discharge about 3 feet to my existing pipe. The last time I spoke to Scott Thompson, he said he had to talk to his boss, the owner of the company, but he said I would get some sort of discount.  He would get back to me after Memorial Day.  i have not heard from him. When I asked Scott about the 10% Angie's List coupon that I printed out, he did not reply.  The company failed to honor the Angie's List coupon and the final bill showed no discount.   As weeks go by, I am gradually cleaning up and replacing the torn up panelling and insulation left by Healthy Spaces.  I have hopes that the system that was installed will work to keep water out of my basement, but I very much dislike the fact that I was told that I would not have to remove my paneling to begin with.  The mess left in my basement is terrible. 7/31/14  As an addendum, after meeting with Damon Cheatam and expressing my dissatisfaction, not with the actual work, but with the beginning estimate procedures, he explained to me the circumstances under which my incorrect estimate was given.  He asked what his company could do to make me happy.  I told him I would like them to honor the 10% Angie's List discount coupon I gave him.  Meetings were held, and the end result was I received a check in the mail for the 10% discount.  In spite of a few issues, this company has proven to be one of integrity and one which obviously cares about reputation and customer satisfaction.  I have changed my ratings accordingly.

AKA - Swat Pest Control It went very well. They explained everything up front, no hidden or extra charges. Everyone from salesman to installers were helpful, friendly, and courteous. They did a great job and cleaned up after themselves everyday. They project was completely on schedule. They even came out a couple of times afterwards to fix some stuff that they didn't actually have to but they wanted to make sure I was fully satisfied with the job. I had even ordered something I changed my mind about at the last minute and it was no problem cancelling that item. If we buy a house in the future that has a basement that hasn't been waterproofed we will for sure go with this company.

They have been my nightmare. I met with a man by the name of Ron Haroldson who suppositively their chief inspector. And he was the one that came out here and evaluated my basement and all that stuff and set up the contract. I met with him and the work wasn't supposed to start until June the 17th. They were supposed to be done by June the 21st. During my conversation I told Mr. Haroldson about my well with the holding tank, those were my concerns. Moving the holding tank and drainage pipe they would have to be jack hammered and all that. I didn't want my well and all that stuff to get messed up. He told me at the time of our conversation that Dand L had a plumber that I wouldn't have to worry about it. They had a plumber, the plumber could take care and move this holding tank. The first day, they took out drywall that I was not told about, to have this wall removed between my garage and my sewage area in the basement, that was never mentioned in the contract. He went around and looked at everything, so he knew exactly where all this work was going to be done. The crew shows up and the first thing the guy says to me, the foreman, do you have anybody who can move this holding tank? I said no, I was told you have a plumber. I can't just get a plumber right now. He said I think we can work around it for right now. Then he ends up moving it and he even told me I'm not comfortable messing with plumbing and all that. He ended up doing it anyway. They got it all put back together. They never did show up on time, and sometimes they left early, they would tell me they would be here at a certain time and then not show up for a couple hours. That particular day they came in at 9:30 and they left about 12:30 and supposively to finish another job. That made me mad because I thought I waited three or four weeks for you to put me on your schedule, this should be my time. They left and went to another job. I went to inspect to see what they had done and I noticed I had a drainage pipe that was broke, that they broke with the jack hammer. They never did say anything about it. I had to call the company, of course they came back that night and taped it up, temporary fix and that day they knocked this drywall out and it's a long story. But they knocked this dry wall out and I wasn't expecting to be knocking any drywall out, but they knocked this drywall out and they weren't going to put it back up. I said the owner never told me you were going to knock any drywall out. They said no they weren't going to put it back up or anything. They broke the door frame and my door is misaligned from that. That was the first day. The next day they didn't fix the drainage pipe at that time. They started putting up what they call a durawall which is a waterproof wall. I was feeling it and I felt there was just too much slack in between the durawall and the cinder block. I felt it should be centered with the cinder block. They pour concrete to fill it. Once the concrete is poured you really can't do much about the wall then. When they got ready to fill in the area with the concrete, he cemented the area where the holding tank was going sit. He waited about two hours and he put the holding tank back on that cement. It sank down into the concrete because it was wet. They are saying that I wanted it set back because I wanted my water back on. That is not true. I could have waited 24 hours but what they wanted was, it was my only water source and they wanted to get their job done. They needed the water to mix their cement to lay on the parameter of the basement. They are blame it on me I wanted my water back. They said they were coming back the next day at 6:30. I get up early, they never showed up until 8:30. They had clumps of concrete laying on the other part of the floor. It's been one nightmare after another. The concrete part is already cracking in some places where they laid it. They way they did the sump pump thing, the way it was positioned, it should have been positioned in a different way because now the way it's positioned you've got water when it rain, the water is standing on top of the drain. I don't know if it will affect it or not, it's not going off or anything, but here you've got standing water and when the water finally left you've got mud on top of it where they had done that work. The day that they were supposed to be finished in my house, they were supposed to do a clean up job, they took my garden hose from the outside and sprayed the room down, the durawall and the concrete down and on the opposite side of that door is my finished part of my basement which my carpet got soaked. After they left there was standing water in my garage area and my basement storage area, where it was done. It was just like a sauna. According to their warranty on the durawall, high humidity levels void the warranty of the durawall. I had extreme humidity levels in there caused from them. They were supposively done, they didn't untape the air return. Thank God I found it or I could have had burst pipes or whatever. My water pipes were ice cold and they were just dripping like crazy. the whole room was just like a sauna. Here is the clincher. They were supposed to finish up this outside work. They never did call, they never showed up, they never did anything. They did not come back. They had already dug the trench out there around the building and laid some of the pipe. They didn't show up for two or three weeks later to finish up the outside. In the contract it was supposed to be done within a week, everything. To say the least, water got in the trench, therefore there was mud getting in the trench, mud draining into that drainage pipe that they already laid. It was a mess. They finally got out and finished it out in July. There were two inspectors came out and looked at all this work on the inside and they said it was lousy work that Dand L doesn't do work like this. They were going on and on about it. They were commenting that it was poor quality work. Now they are now coming around they don't understand why I made a complaint to the better business bureau. They took all these pictures and I thought they would go back to the big boss and tell them all this stuff. They are acting like I'm a crazy woman I guess. The owner of this company I am really disappointed in him. Not once had he made contact with me. He knew I was very displeased. I had sent e-mails, I had spoken with personnel and not once did the owner of this company ever make contact with me to find out what was really going on. Now they are acting like they can't understand why I'm complaining. I do give them credit for this, the one guy name Cody he did come back out and he put drywall up for me, he did try to fix my door. He did try to smooth out the concrete. The concrete, the way it was laid there was obvious difference between it and my regular concrete that was already there. He did try to improve some things. But he told me that his boss really didn't want him coming out doing it. So somebody is lying. They are responding to the better business that they did all this, that someone came out and did 16 hours. Yea, but they told me that you didn't want him to. One inspector even told me somebody is going to get fired over this. Nobody got fired. Still got the same crew. And I was also told by him that he was getting other complaints about this same crew that was doing work. I will never, ever, ever call that company again.

The owner Kelly Chandler, assured us this would take care of the problem and we could put down our new carpet.  We did and the new carpet was soaked.  He said he would come back and fix the problem and pay for the carpet reinstallation.  He never gave us a check for the invoice we sent him.  He didn’t return our calls.  My husband happened to see him in the neighborhood and insisted he come and look at our house.  He sent some workmen back to add more gravel.  We don’t know what he did when he was here because he didn’t call to tell us when the work could be done.  We have water again in the house and he will not return our calls.
