I have never had my chimney cleaned nor did I know when the previous owner had cleaned it. I called ARCO asking for their deluxe cleaning package. The gentleman came out to review it and actual explained that a less expensive package would be more beneficial. He recommended a cleaning treatment based on the age of my home and condition of my chimney. He also showed me areas that were in need of repair and made recommendations for those areas. With each recommendation, he showed photos and gave his reasoning. The work we agreed upon was completed. There was clear communication throughout the process. It was clear that he had a passion for chimneys and is very knowledgable. This is something I appreciate as a homeowner of an older home. My chimney is now safe to use (it was not before)! I will be calling them back to have routine maintenance performed.

AARCO - Affordable Roofing & Chimney Options
Our first scheduled appointment had to be delayed due to weather (no way they could have safely gotten on the roof). However, two men from ARCO showed up right within the given time frame for the rescheduled day. They were both nice and started right away with one guy performing the chimney sweep and the other getting up on the roof for inspection. They found a couple of issues that will need repair and took the time to show me the issue and explain what was wrong as well as what the root cause was and what would need to be fixed. The issue was a rusty chimney cover that was leaking which caused the back wall refractory to crack. Additionally, the seal around the collar of my furnace's heat pipe needed to be fixed. I received a quote for these repairs and then they left. The entire appointment lasted about 40 minutes. The service was bought using Angie's Big Deal.

Chimney was swept and inspected on initial visit by Mike. Linings for wood fireplace and oil furnace were found to be in poor condition. Chimney crown was found to be cracked. Estimate with different repair options was provided. Mike was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. Mike and Joey returned to install Heat Shield lining in the fireplace chimney, apply crown coat, and water repellent. Stainless steel liner was supposed to be put in the oil furnace chimney; however, Mike discovered that the liner he had available was too large. This repair had to be rescheduled. The other repairs were completed in one day. I did have some difficulty getting in contact again with Mike to find out the status of the stainless liner due to differences in our schedule. It turned out that the stainless steel liners are not manufactured in the size that our chimney needed. Mike offered to install the Heat Shield for the oil furnace at the same price as what the stainless liner would have been (Heat Shield was more expensive). We agreed and Mike and Joey came out again a few weeks later and completed the work in one day. Mike and Joey did quality work at a fair price and I will use them for chimney work in the future. The only negative aspects of the service was the communication break down at times and the unavailability of the stainless liner. *Note: In regards to the Heat Shield liner keep in mind that it must dry for approximately 48 hours, so the chimney/furnace cannot be used during that time. It may be best to make this type of repair in warmer weather.

Chimney and fireplace were cleaned and inspected thoroughly. He called ahead to confirm appointment and to be sure we had power (date scheduled was during major power outage in area) and arrived on time. Very friendly and left no mess. Price quote was exact. Because of recent windstorm I had some tree limbs on roof, which he removed while he was up on roof inspecting the chimney.

DAVE WETZEL WAS THE CHIMNEY SWEEP. HE WAS CLEAN, NEAT, PROFESSIONAL, AND QUICK. WITH HIS GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR, HIS VISIT WAS VERY PLEASANT. HE RESPONDED TO QUESTIONS DIRECTLY AND WITH THE APPROPRIATE DETAIL IN A VERY UNDERSTANDABLE MANNER. I WOULD MOST DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HIM TO OTHERS AND CERTAINLY WILL USE AMERICAN CHIMNEY WHEN NEXT I NEED A CHIMNEY CLEANING.

Absolutely fabulous from the initial call to schedule the appointment to completing the task. Technician was very thorough and left no trace of work completed behind. Advised that our fireplace was in excellent shape which was good to hear as we had no idea how long it had been since it had been cleaned much less inspected. Since our job was completed - our neighbors and a brother-in-law became customers as well.

Albert was very professional. He very carefully cleaned the firebox and chimney. I was surprised that he let absolutely no dust into the house, which was no mean feat considering the chimney had not been cleaned in at least 25 years, and probably much longer.

Recent Review: We could not turn on our furnace until our collapsed chimney was cleaned out. We had four services look at our chimney. All quoted a spectum of rates from $2000-$5000 to fix our situation. It was suggested to drill into the side of our home to access the collapsed bricks in our chimney. We had one Chimney Masonery service begin the work. If it did not work with them, we were relegated to do a "reroute" out the side of the home to vent our furnace by the end of October as the weather turns cold. Two hours into the job, they were still knocking at the pipe in the basement. When they saw the magnitude of the collapse, they "had to go to another job". We called Mr. Greene with All Clean Shimeney Sweep from the BBB. He had an entheusiasm and zest to find the problem. He offered a strategy for saving money after viewing our chimney and all 5 of our fireplaces. Seems he comes from a long line of family chimney sweeps. His specialty is UNCLOGGING CHIMNEYS IN HISTORIC HOMES. It took him two hours and he used a clean system to sweep the debris after completion of the job. He followed-up the next day unprompted with additional ideas to do a reline & cap of our chimney. He even said,' If I were you, I would never let anyone sweep these chimneys. Just keep them open. You have a clean burning furnace and should never need a chimney sweep.' How honest is that? I contend this guy should bill himself as an unclogger and liner of chimneys too. He is knowledgable and honest. BTW We tipped him $40. This was 20% of his final bill of only $214. Blessings, Kyle Vaughn.
