BLESLIE'S SWIMMING POOL SUPPLY
they showed up on the scheduled day and performed the service as expected. The only issue we had was that since we were not going to be home at the time of service we were required to pre-pay at the local store even though we are a returning customer.

They seemed to do the job they were supposed to do. The price was reasonable. I was happy with them.

ASuntime Pools West
They came highly recommended to us by someone. We interviewed a couple of companies, and we liked them the best. It's a family owned business. The construction started in March and was finished by summer time. They were thorough and dependable. They were also willing to do a good clean-up. We were very satisfied with their work.

APool Man
They were wonderful. They were just really super nice and knew what they were doing. One man spoke only Spanish and the other guy spoke fluent English and Spanish. I enjoyed the whole time they were here. The job was excellent. I got a really good pool liner and it was the most expensive one they had.

AMARTIN MALBONE
I liked him because he was prompt and always on time. He always came out when he said he would and did a good job. I have no complains about him.

BA AND B POOLS
They were good overall. They did acceptable workmanship on the pool area. I felt very comfortable with them at the house. It took them about two months for them to get the job done. I would recommend them to others.

FLESLIE'S SWIMMING POOL SUPPLIES
Horrible. Spent $2000.00 on a new pool cover and other supplies and was credited with only 114 points. You are supposed to get much more than that. Ron at the Shelbyville Rd store is great but the company is horrible - you can't get a live person when you call customer service and the Rewards program is a scam because they short you on point rewards.

CClearwater Fiberglass Pools & Spas Inc
I would like to start by saying that we love our pool, patio, retaining wall and the steps that were installed.  With the exception of a couple of problems that Clearwater has since fixed, the finished product is great.  The journey getting to that point wasn't so great.  I have deliberately waited a few months to post this review in an attempt to be as objective as I can and not post a knee-jerk response. Rather than going through the project from start to finish, I will start by listing the good and bad experiences that occurred throughout and then get into the detail surrounding the installation. Good Good product - The pool and the equipment that we have, as well as the wall, steps and patio have all, so far, exceeded our expectations.  It's a great addition to our home. The different work crews were great to work with and genuinely seemed to care about their work and about us as customers. Problems experienced after installation have quickly been addressed to our satisfaction and at no cost to us The measurements taken by the company for the retaining wall were wrong and had to be corrected.  Clearwater agreed to extend the wall the additional 10' required at no cost Bad The owner.  The owner is the quintessential "salesman".  He consistently gave us information he thought we wanted to hear even though it wasn't necessarily true.  A couple of examples of this are the claims that his guys only work 1 job at a time, also that it should only take 3 weeks to install the pool from start to finish.  He would also try to gloss over problems encountered and tell you whatever he thought was needed to satisfy you, regardless of the truth. Poor customer service.  This too, originates with the owner.  For the most part, the guys on the ground tried their best to make us happy but the owner, even after consistently missing time lines for various reasons (including working other jobs and for drug use by an employee???) responded to our complaints with excuses, deflections and/or argument.  He even made demands for payments that were not agreed to and that were prior to work being completed.  When we refused, on the basis of his crew's continued absence from our work site and the extensive delays, he became overly defensive and even offended when he was told we didn't trust what he said.  Rather than treat the customers as customers, he was combative and argumentative; he's more profit driven than customer driven.  To be clear, up to this point and prior to this demand, we had already paid him $55K for the pool and our position was that the remaining $7K would only be paid upon completion of the work.  Eventually, in order to avoid having to go to another company to finish the pool, we had to settle for paying half of that money after the first day of the remaining work and the other half upon completion. Installation We signed the installation agreement contract on 5/26/2011 with the expectation that the pool would be completed in 3 weeks. Construction started the same week with a crew coming out to begin digging the hole in the ground.  A "bobcat" was used to dig and a small dump truck was used to hall dirt away.  In addition to the pool hole, we had to dig into our yard a bit as it was sloped and required a retaining wall.  Unfortunately soon after digging began, we ran into rock in the pool hole which required special equipment to drill through; a "hoe ram", which is essentially a big jack-hammer connected to a back-hoe.  $5.7K later, the hole was ready for the pool.  FYI, this $5.7K was a big part of the money we wanted to hold on to until the project was complete.  No where in the agreement did it state when this money was expected and no mention was made prior to the extra work being done.  Normally, I would gladly pay this as requested but when it was,  this money was the only leverage we had remaining to encourage completion of the project.  Also, during this step is when it was discovered that the measurements for the retaining wall were wrong. The next step was delivery and installation of the pool.  The pool was delivered early on a Friday morning (6/5/2011).  Part of the contract states that a second payment, and by far the biggest ($42K in our case), is due upon delivery and placement of the pool.  The owner was on site for the delivery that morning and I decided to go ahead and give him this second payment.  That was a mistake and also when all of our delays started to occur.  The guys left at noon on Friday and we didn't see them again until Wednesday of the following week...once this big check was received, we became second priority to other projects. The remaining work to be complete was the installation of the retaining wall, electrical conduits, pool equipment, the framing and pouring of the concrete patio, the pool lighting and the steps leading to the pool.  It took until July 7, 2011 for completion of this work with many delays; several days when we didn't see or hear from anyone.  This was 6 weeks after we signed the agreement and twice as long as we were told to expect.  Two of these days were spent digging rock and 2 or 3 were from weather but the vast majority were from the crews working other jobs; as they freely admitted. All in all, we are satisfied with the pool we have but I feel like we could have had a similar pool installed by another company in town and at the same time we could have had a much better customer experience.  It wouldn't take much to improve on what we had with Clearwater. Tips My first tip is to look elsewhere but if you feel like Clearwater is your best option, read on. The owner puts a lot of stock in what's in the contract, one of the mistakes we made was not updating the contract date with the new finish date prior to signing.  Initially, Clearwater was going to start after our vacation two weeks later but we decided to start as soon as possible; we didn't update the completion date on the agreement, which gave the owner room to put us off.  Get what you want in the signed installation agreement. During installation, work with his crew when you can.  They will get the job done for you w/o the added complications. Be patient.  The pool really is nice and we do enjoy it for all that we've had to put up with.

FWATSON'S OF LOUISVILLE
Please don't buy before reading this.  I am taking time to go through my experience to help someone that is thinking about buying with Watson's.  Let me tell you first hand this company is without a doubt on the shady side!  They speak in very general terms on what you need and what to expect.  I am telling you please ask a lot of questions!  My problems started right after signing on the dotted line.  Imagine that!  First, good luck trying to get anything scheduled with the company after you agree to buy.  I had to call like 6 times before anyone would give me a firm date.  Then that "firm" date was moved.  When the installers finally came onsite the lead installer didn't even show up and all the other guys that worked for him were complaining and acting like they didn't know what to do!  One of them told me that he had to go to court and wanted to see if I could take him???!!!  Wow!  Listen, I will tell you that they will absolutely destroy your yard and leave it that way!  I had to spend ~ $800 - $1000 extra on things that they did not tell me about up front (tons and tons of mason sand and lime!  ~$500 worth).  Way more than what was told to me by the sales rep.  Then they stuck me with a bill for digging and I had to complain several times to get that reduced.  I was told that they would need to dig 18 inches (you get up to 12 inches free) on one side and I agreed to that after they shot it with a laser, however when they came knocking on the door after the dig they said that I owed for 27 inches!  Then if that wasn't all you will have to pay a small fortune to move the giant dirt mound away from next to your new pool.  Next up for me on the expense side will be paying for power seeding my yard!  So count on that expense too.

I have contacted a collection lawyer in Louisville who is filling a lawsuit this week against him. I will file a report with the KY department of revenue since I think this guy is not paying his fair share of taxes with the excuse that he has gotten bounced checks from others. Don?t hire this crook. I?m out $3500 plus the cost of 20,000 gallons of water and now lawyer fees, courts fees, sheriff fees, etc.  Check the more pictures of his work at http://s1165.photobucket.com/albums/q582/dam125/pool%20pictures/ Update 08/20/2012 Lawsuit has been filed [case number 12 c006997] He has responded with an attorney who has contacted mine and who has been given copies of pictures and video of my pool liner. I think he might want to settle after his lawyer saw the picture. I really  hope he will want to continue with the lawsuit and it goes to trial. I want him to tell the Judge this is what a liner should look like. I will keep you posted as this continues. Update 01/08/2013. Waiting for new court date since key witness not available on day of original scheduled court day in December 2012. Will update when case is final. Update 04/08/2013: Today in Jefferson Court we won the case for all the money we paid Mr Bates [$3500].  We will start collection process with a collection agency as soon as we can hire one. We will file something with the BBB too.  Word of caution, there are some companies in the area that bid for a pool job, win the bid and they pay 3rd parties to do their work. Make sure you ask about this person being in the team. Get a written estimate & Good luck. I'm in the process of looking for a company to re do the job this person completely messed up.
