Recent Review: Jesse did a wonderful job on the front lawn of my house, my husband and I were very happy and satisfied with the overall outcome, and we also found the price to be reasonable.  Jesse also went out of his way to do this job, our location was out of his area, this is something both my husband and I appreciated. He was friendly and knew what he was talking about therefore gave us a better idea to what we were looking for and at what price. The only negative comment we have is he needs to communicate via phone better.  Jesse had to come back and pick up the bushes that he removed, he originally said he will come Saturday morning and did not show up until noon, we had to call him to see what time was he going to show up. Also, he had to come back at the end of April and remove the final bush.  April 30th came and went and we did not receive a call so, on May 5th  my  husband called him and Jesse said that he will be at our house on Sunday morning if not by 3pm. By 4pm Sunday we called him.  He was apologetic and said he will remove the bush on Monday by 9am. I finally got the call on Monday ten min till nine telling me the final bush was removed.  In every situation we were made aware of his reasoning, which we were ok with, but our issue was not the reasoning it was the follow up. Other then that we don't have any regret  and are pleased with the job.

Recent Review: I strongly recommend Nowicki Construction to members of Angie?s List near Chesterton, IN. Fred and Matt are top notch, low key, flexible and cost effective. Background: I recently bought my first brick home. Then, I discovered that many bricks had spalled within the last two years. The local brick yard referred me to a contractor who gave me an estimate for replacing about 100 bricks. But in early October, he stopped responding, and I could not schedule the work. So, I joined Angie?s List and quickly found several good reviews of Nowicki Construction. I contacted Fred, and he came right away to estimate the job.  Identifying the real problem: Very quickly, Fred determined that the spalling was just a symptom of an underlying issue with drainage and ground moisture, isolated to an addition built with less robust brick. He pointed out that a sidewalk against the north wall sloped a bit toward the addition, and trapped water against the brick. He observed that, overall, everywhere in the addition that I had a water problem, I had spalling. The problem spots included: an area under a window sill that I had already repaired; under gutters that the previous owner had neglected; and along the soil line. Solution: Fred suggested a different attack, one that required some grunt labor on my part. I broke up the sidewalk and excavated along the perimeter of the addition. Then Fred and Matt pressure-washed the exposed foundation, and applied a moisture barrier. They parge-coated a few courses of badly damaged brick at the soil line where the sidewalk had been. I back-filled with 4 tons of pea gravel. Throughout, Fred and Matt scheduled their work to accommodate mine.  Outcome: I?m relieved to have solved the underlying problem before Winter weather set in. I was able to add some sweat equity to keep cash costs down. In the Spring, Fred and Matt will schedule to replace the remaining spalled brick. In the end, my total cash cost may be less than my original contractor?s estimate.

Read reviews on here from 4-5 years ago, all I could find and seemed good. Not this time, not punctual, lies about when they will come and doesn't show, took 3 times as long to complete. Mostly though, when the work was done, things stared to fall apart. Gravel leaching into areas no suppose to have that gravel, gaps left where gaps should not be. Border totally not straight. Please look to others on here and other sites. There are plenty of them and this is not a good one! Lastly, still waiting for them to return funds for items cancelled during the work that were paid for, and he has been paid with a bonus we offered to get him to finish it up, and its not. I'm an idiot, don't you be!

AHUBINGER LANDSCAPING
Had a lot of rain--concern about base for wall--they made sure that the base would be adequate in our clay soil and it was. They used decorative block to build a tiered retaining wall, put in drains within wall and attached house gutter drains, placed gravel, then dirt, tilled in mulch for plants, planted plants, applied fabric over soil, and covered with rubber chips. Their work was professional and of great quality. They even did a great job in cleanup.

Jesse and his crew were very professional. He always called when he said he would call. Always was on time and made all appointments. Excellent communication. Jesse said he would have the whole job completed in 1 day, which I didn't think was possible. He started at 8 and finished at 4, exactly the time he said it would take. His crew was very professional and does great work. Used quality material and did quality work. The team did excellent clean up also. We will be calling his company next year when we need more landscaping done!

He did an excellent job on what he did but it took him forever. We paid them half of the money and then he said he would start on Monday and we never saw him again for like three months. No return phone calls, nothing. I couldn't get a hold of them, just their voice box is always full. He doesn't really have an office or a store. He is just a young guy but he's got a great business and he does excellent excellent work. He does really really good work. He did the restaurant here and it's beautiful. He did all the brick work, the ground, they had an outside patio area and part of the restaurant outside is absolutely gorgeous. Wow, I didn't even know he did all that. But, to get him out here, the communication is really bad. It's really really bad. We finally called Mark that has nothing to do with the project. But, we told Mark this is where we're at and he won't call or nothing. He's got half of our money and we don't want anybody else to do the job because he's the one that dug the hole, so he knows what he's working with. Anyway, he did an excellent job, but to get him out here to do it, that experience is extremely frustrating. He is a nice guy too. He is so sweet. He is as sweet as can be, friendly, nice but he's a "C" because it was so frustrating. That was the part. It's a bad communication. It's breaking my heart. He did break his hand throughout that but he's got a crew. The other ones that did the work, he came out and kind of tell them, they did excellent.

Jesse came to give us a quote on Friday night, and showed up the following Monday bright and early to do the work.  He said all of the work would be completed within 3 days. Sure enough by Wednesday afternoon everything was finished.  His communication during this time was fantastic.   He was very good about returning phone calls and texts while he worked on this project.  We had several areas in both our back and front yards needing attention.  He removed 2 small trees, about a dozen large, overgrown, dead bushes, and used a stump grinder to permanently remove the stumps.  He noticed that we had several hostas that could be divided and placed in better locations around our yard.  The largest project was probably doing the edging trim around our patio flower bed and side of the house.  He even redid a few of the curves and angles after we got home the first night and decided we wanted to change a couple of things.  Jesse picked out all of the edging brick for us, and the colors coordinate perfectly with the patio and house colors.  This main flower bed also needed all new gravel (which he helped us pick), an abundance of weeds picked, new weed guard put down, more bushes trimmed, and divided some of the hostas into this large area.  In an empty space, he also created a path from our patio that was incorporated into the large bed.  Basically there is just too much work to list.   Jesse and his awesome crew took our backyard jungle that kept us inside, to a beautifully landscaped garden that we can't wait to share with our friends.  We HIGHLY recommend Jesse for landscaping projects.  We will definitely contact him again for future projects.
