ASuperior Mobile Home Service, Inc.
I have a manufactured mobile home and I had used their services for almost 25 years. I used to have them come every year to clean the furnace and one time I had damage to my floor due to a leak in my laundry room, they replaced that for me. They're great! Anything you need for a mobile home, they can do. If you have an issue, they'll go above and beyond to remedy the situation.

I cannot say enough good things about Ryszard and his team.  They did a great job!  We started the job in February 2014 with the basement bathroom addition.  His team did an outstanding job getting the new bathroom installed and adding a large storage closet.  They then worked in phases to complete the work in the rest of the house including first floor bathroom, powder room, 2nd floor guest bathroom (including the installation of a skylight) and the master bathroom (including changing an exterior window).  Lastly, they completed the kitchen.  The wood work, carpentry, electrical and plumbing work were all done top notch.  We love the tile work they completed in the bathrooms and the kitchen and, importantly, the family survived the remodeling project without too many scars or bad memories.  Ryszard and his team did a great job keeping the house and work space clean, as we were living in the house at the same time the work was being completed.  Their attention to detail, consideration for our living space and general demeanor each day, made working with Yellow Square a great experience.  Yellow Square's quality of work was top notch! I will say that mistakes happen in all projects and, it was no different with Yellow Square -- although these mistakes were few.  Many times, rather than me noticing them, Ryszard would see something he was not happy with and get it addressed before I saw it or said something.  In cases, when I had an issues with something working through this problem was straight forward.  Ryszard was focused on making sure we were happy and executing the plans we had agreed on.  When changes were necessary, we worked through an agreeable fix.  When mistakes were made, Ryszard quickly addressed and remedied the issue.  This was important because we had a tight timeline to work against and Ryszard was able to keep to the schedule.  If the change was due to a change in scope on my part, Ryszard let me know and explained what the change in cost and timing would be for the project.  In cannot think of one issue that was not addressed in a straight forward and fashion and that we did not come to an agreeable solution.  Lastly, Ryszard has high integrity and keeps his promises.  I found I could depend on Ryszard time and time again in working through tough issues against commitments he had made and keeping us on schedule.  He also did a great job in completing our remodel.  His team has a high degree of pride in their work and showed great skill in completing a difficult job.  I enthusiastically endorse Yellow Square and recommend you consider them for your next remodeling project.

We embarked on a very LARGE two-story addition and complete remodel of our 25 year old home. We contacted John Novotny, owner of Prairie Homes & Renovations, back in early 2008 but ran into problems with the City of Naperville in obtaining a building permit. Prior to contacting John we worked with an architect to draw up the plans for the addition. John worked with us, our architect and the City of Naperville every step of the way. Construction started in February 2009 and was completed in August 2009. All the sub-contractors were professional and worked with us on the details. If we ran into problems John was there to handle and correct anything that came up. He was very responsive and a pleasure to work with. The work was completed on time and in a professional manner and we love our remodeled home and addition. John obtained all of the inspections and lien releases that were needed. John is a very attentive contractor desiring to meet the needs of his clients. He also does beautiful woodworking. John even came back 6 month later and fixed a few minor things that we found. We would HIGHLY recommend Prairie Homes & Renovations for any addition or remodeling needs.

L Home Design was awesome in working with my architect to implement her design as well as flexible when we needed to make changes due to structural limitations. L Home Design was very reasonably priced and used high quality craftsmen throughout the entire project.  I was especially happy with all the carpentry including flooring, cabinetry and the staircases.  All of the workers were proffessional and did an excellent job.  L Home Design also helped me think through which specific products to use.  For example, they made suggestions about my basement flooring and bath fixtures---both of which I am very happy with .  The granite they fabricated and installed is beautiful. Naturally after living a few months in a newly remodeled home, there are bound to be some additional fixes that need to be done.  L Home Design has followed through on any of the small details that need further attention in a timely and pleasant manner.  Overall, L Home Design did a very nice job and got a very big job done in a very reasonable amount of time.  I would highly recommend them if you are considering a remodeling job.

The team from Marinelli Construction are true professionals. They arrive when they say they will and clean up the work area daily. They were polite and respectful to my family while i was at work. Our project had some unique applications that we had included in the design. This included glass tile that would be inlaid with ceramic, the installation of electronic controls for the new updated jacuzzi, and building some recessed areas. The craftsmanship was first class. There were a number of delays in our project resulting from errors made by the designer (hired separately by us and not related to Marinelli.) In these situations, Marinelli changed their schedule and accommodated us despite the inconvenience to them. In the end the project turned out beautifully and was brought in on budget. I highly recommend the team at Marinelli.

AMB Design & Build
Our first project in our house was remodeling the first floor which was going to be a complete renovation.  I know nothing about remodeling or renovation. I asked a friend who recently had her kitchen remodeled. She recommended MB Design & Build.  My friend claimed that Martins was a creative and innovative designer.  She also said that Martins also was able to do all of the reconstructing with his crew of contractors and Construction Company.  When I called MB Design & Build I was able to speak directly with Martins. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to speak with the owner directly. Martins was professional and listened to my concerns and many questions. I began to feel excited about our remodel instead of feeling anxious.  Martins was able to show several designs on how to remodel our home.  We discussed costs and time frames.  I have to admit my friend was 100% correct that Martins Buka Design and Build are the best remodeling company.  My first floor is gorgeous. Everything from the floors to the ceiling lights to the walls and windows, but my new kitchen is the heart of it all!  Everything was done with the cost and time frames we set.  I highly recommend Martins Buka Design & Build for any remodeling home project.

AKatlia Construction Inc
We first contracted with Katlia Construction last year to remodel our kitchen. There were a couple reasons for the remodel. One was my wife was starting to have trouble going up and down the stairs to the basement for laundry, so we wanted to add an area for the washing machine in our kitchen. Our kitchen was also outdated and needed to be more modern. We met with a home remodeling advisor, and he gave us a very detailed scope of work. The price was a little higher, but the quality of the work spoke for itself. We also had them do upgrades to our electrical to get it up to date with current codes.  We were able to work with a designer to select our cabinets, tile, and granite. He also came up with a creative way for us to have our washer and dryer upstairs in a custom cabinet. We absolutely love our kitchen now!  After Katlia finished the kitchen, we contracted them to refinish our floors and paint our entire home. There were a few scheduling mishaps along the way, but with the amount of remodeling we were doing that is to be expected. They sent their best painting team in. The painters were very thorough in prepping and washing our walls. That in itself was a major task. They also replaced all of our doors in the home to a raised panel, and we had them install a new entry and storm door. We invested a lot in these remodeling projects, and now it is though we have a brand new house. We love our newly remodeled home and would recommend Katlia Construction to anyone looking to refresh their home.

AAwesome Design Contracting
I bought a house in Arlington Heights, IL, and I can't rave enough on all the phenomenal work that Awesome design Contracting has done in my home. It took, three years before I finally was able to find a contractor, that took take care of all the work that I needed to be done. I stopped at Awesome Designs warehouse and I was able to find everything I needed.. samples of cabinets, flooring, counter tops. They also provide plumbing and electrical work.... Awesome Design Contracting was my "one stop shop". I got new windows. Once a month, my 6 girlfriends and I get together. We never could decide who's house to go to.. well, now it's been house.... my beautiful basement.. thanks to Awesome Design! They designed, and finished my 1/2 finished basement. . After walking around, and looking at my remodeled home, I talked to Jason, the owner of Awesome Design, asking him, if he would like to build my house in Wisc. Without hesitation, Jason asked me to come to his warehouse(one stop shop) and start looking at everything that I might be interested in. If there was a color or a texture, that was not stocked in the warehouse, Jason, made an extra effort, to have it there the next day. Picking the color, of my brick...... Jason, kept taking out sample, after sample, until the color finally popped, that I liked.   I can't express enough how excited I am that I found such a great contractor. Most of all, Awesome Design has a "one stop shop"! My Wisc house is finished, I cannot wait to bring my girlfriends and share my new built home with them! If you are looking for a contractor or a needing the smallest thing done, around your home, I highly recommend: Awesome Design Contracting. Awesome Design will make your dreams come true to your home!! Pictures of my remodeled and build home, may be found on: www.awesomedesigncontracting

$200889.75. This is the total cost of D1's role in the remodeling of our north side Chicago home in 2019. In summary, what amounted to about 100 sq ft in new foundation allowed us to open up the house to make it more usable on the first floor kitchen/family area and then gave us the opportunity to extend backwards to gain a new master bedroom, closet, and master bathroom. On top of all this, they were able to split a very large bedroom into 2 smaller bedrooms, upgrade our electrical regarding service and compliance throughout the house making a former 3 bedroom 2.5 bath home into a 4 bedroom 3.5 bath home and gaining us about 350 sqft. All this was done without having to sacrifice any of our yard space, either. In detail, this was what they did provide in relative order of events: 1) A sales pitch and 3D rendering of the potential layout of our remodeled home 2) A very detailed spec sheet that outlined everything they were going to be responsible for doing down to the measurements. I'd have preferred that the spec sheet was itemized with cost, but there were a few times I did ask about actual cost for some items in order to see if I would be gaining savings or not elsewhere and they were able to oblige. This spec sheet was probably what sets them apart from other general contractors, and perhaps other firms that are in the 'design-build' part of construction. 3) Architectural drawings, the labor to go through the stringent Chicago permit process and some work to navigate through administrative adjustment/variance processes due to setback issues with our home as it stood originally. 4) Design and selection help/ consultation of not only floorplan but of things like kitchen island design, master bathroom design, etc. 5) Demo of an existing deck 6) Laying foundation where original deck was 7) Framing from new foundation to second floor master bedroom, bathroom, and closet. 8) Demo of walls that lay inside the new frame to open up first floor and second floor 9) A new roof to extend to new rear footprint of home 10) Insulation for new areas 11) Electrical upgrade from 100 amps to 200 amps with the help of ComEd 12) New electrical to new portion of home 13) Replaced electrical to existing part of the home that failed electrical inspection (read below for details). 14) Plumbing for master bathroom 15) Drywall and patching for the entire house 16) Trim and interior doors 17) 5 year warranty on the work they did 18) Upgraded HVAC venting for most of the home What was not included was: 1) Glass exterior patio door 2) Plumbing fixtures 3) Major light fixtures 4) Interior painting 5) Exterior painting 6) New hardwood floor installation in the new footprint of the home. 7) All permit fees 8) Cleaning services Those items ran a total of roughly $13,000, but that also saved us about $8000 had we used D1 to procure those items or provide those services, which they were open about regarding their cost and potential savings if we did the legwork on our end. The major surprise was the electrical inspection that failed with the existing part of the home. In short, inspection revealed that the existing house was using bendable conduit to run electricity throughout the house so the ENTIRE home, including garage had to be re-done with rigid conduit, which meant not only new electrical work but then the following new drywall work to patch up the areas that were now impacted. My only gripe here is that had we had known this would have been an issue, we could have gotten some cost-savings by addressing it all at once. We felt stuck in ways because 1) it was something that was needed to be done to pass final inspections, 2) we had the freedom to get a bid, but that would mean delaying the construction further by that time to get electricians out, assess the situation, come to an agreed-price and schedule, etc. The balance between time and money was a motivating factor to go with the existing electrician through D1 to gain the warranty on the work. They said we could go directly with the electrician and save about $2500, but then the work wouldn't be under the D1 warranty of work. We decided to go with paying D1. In the end, I think we were able to get some flexibility in price because we stretched ourselves to pay for this in cash. While their sales lead crunched some numbers and said that they were able to offer the agreed-to price due to other projects going on relatively at the same time, we took that with a grain of salt because well, the timeilne of when that/those project(s) was going to start after permitting didn't make it seem that plausible that the level of trade labor coordination could ever run that smoothly. I'll admit…I probably wasn't the best customer. I was into their details during the construction process because I just wanted to make sure that work was being done and we could get in within a reasonable time and the amount of money we were spending warranted that I get the details of who, what, when, where, and why whenever I felt a need to know. We were out of the house for 4 months from late August to early December. The final product lived up to our expectations, and only living in it, has let us realize that those expectations were exceeded on a lot of points. We were able to transform a very old Chicago home that had our accents In them into a more useable and livable home for our family of 5, and making the decision to do so now verses later on in life has given us the opportunity to enjoy this space more with only really 4 months of not living as comfortably as we would have liked as the only downside. The staff that we worked directly with were all professional and great, especially our project manager Meagan who was equal parts proxy, soundboard, and an empathetic person to our concerns and needs. She is smart, responsive, and someone who really does take the point of view of the customer when she does her work. I only have good things to say about her. Kudos also to Sam (architect), Megan (designer), Eli (superintendent) and Justin (lead PM). They all were responsive and helped keep things moving for us. In regards to the trades, their electricians were the ones that stood out the most. There were several days where they would start at 530am and then stay passed 6pm. While I say I'd love to work with them again, I hope we don’t have to, because we seemed to have done it all for now. I would wholeheartedly recommend them with this summary…they do great work and have great people, but what they can't do, and what no firms can really do, is prepare you for the ups and downs of construction drama that is really the anxiety of wanting a finished product called your home sooner and better than it was before. They can make the process as smooth as possible for you, and if you want to undertake being involved, you can be, and it may frustrate you, but if you let it all happen, it may be all more enjoyable. This was a huge learning experience for us, and gave us a better understanding of how things operate in the construction business. It also gave the knowledge to answer back with a snarkiy remark when asked 'How long will it take?' and I answer 'about 4 months' and they respond back with 'oh, you mean 6 months?' I can say, 'oh, did you also go through a major 200k renovation on your home?. Ha! Thanks D1!
