Recent Review: I started with 3 free estimates after doing reviews from Angie's Lists companies, Perma Seal, U.S. Waterproofing and then this company Atlas Restoration LLC. Perma Seal came in over $2500 more than anyone. They wouldn't fix my concrete slab/s issues on the outside (which is where the water was originating from a big crack to begin with. They also wanted to rip out 3 more stairs to extend their drain tile system farther out in the back outside stairwell along with the footing area ( I understood why but realized later did not need that extra cost or precaution done - the footing area was enough). U.S. Waterproofing would do all the same work as Atlas but also would still not fix the main outside issue of the concrete slab/s. They were still higher than Atlas by about $1500. Finally Atlas did everything everyone else bid (we didn't need to do the 3 stairs, just the footing) and they were the only ones that included the concrete slab/s to fix them, they just advised they could not warranty the work and I was fine with that (at this rate I was looking to have to jackhammer and re do myself, because to have any masonry come out and do would be more in labor than materials and they would be hand mixing bags anyways. This is one of the main reasons I went with Atlas, also that the remainder of the work was all under warranty. Everyone in the office is very nice, and Lori worked with me on everything. They are very thorough. They were not bothered by my many questions (and if they were they didn't make it known). On job day I was a little shocked by the young crew and even 1 new rookie on his first day, but after hearing John their foreman go right into a pre start meeting to get everyone on board and start day one on schedule I was not worried. He is very professional and kept the crew working at all times. Even though they were young they were very hard workers and were being taught and followed well by John and his associate Matt. John and Matt worked and communicated very well between them and with the others, and at any point John was unsure of a job being performed and/or by whom it was being performed he was sure to have it started or all done by himself. Mostly some of the younger guys are doing the grunt work, but their job is what kept Matt and John being able to do the site work so well and effeciently. Nice job guys! Chewie was their masonry guy and he did excellent work. I'm a hands on  DIY'er myself and they were not bothered by my watching or asking questions. I asked to be shown or told what was being done before doing it and they had no problem with that either. The one thing I was really grateful for was when John and I had to brainstorm a work around due to a sewer line issue which affected the footing drain tile that was really important for me to have in front of the door, along with the regular sewer drain. We finally came up with extending up the drain about a 1/2" -1" higher and then it worked. I'm glad John can think outside the box and that he just wasn't another job site worker to say "Sorry Mam this is how it is going to have to be due to your drain height." This made me really happy! Thanks John. Each day they were ontime and professional. On the last day Will (I think was their supervisor?) came onsite and reviewed their work and left, the guys finished up and cleaned up and I'm a happy customer. Now we just have to wait for the next " HEAVY" rain to see if this all works. (I believe it will). I would recommend to at least have this company included as a free estimate in any of your waterproofing/foundation jobs. Oh, they also gave my Mom and Dad a senior discount and we used our Angie's List coupon that they advertise on Angie's List. That alone saved me another $700. Thanks again!

RFH & Associates
Recent Review: I have used RFH & Associates several times as a buyer and have been absolutely thrilled with their services. Gregg is extremely through and responsive, and makes sure that the buyer understands clearly what he is looking for and observing during his inspections. He turns around a clear and detailed report very quickly, and provides great information to help the buyer understand what projects or costs might be ahead. I think he is fair and realistic when inspecting older or vintage homes, and has great respect and appreciation for quality construction and home maintenance. A great resource during the often stressful home buying process.

Reviews in Mchenry to Inspect Crawl Space

AAccuspect Home Inspection Services Inc
Excellent. He did a very thorough inspection, including crawl space and attic. He found some serious problems, and saved us from making a bad purchase. Always very informative. Quick report. This is our third time using Accuspect, and we would definitely use them again.

BLannes Group Home Inspections/ All About Homes -CH
Jory came out to inspect a house for possible purchase. He was 45 minutes lat but did call and gave us a $100 credit so that was good. He is very knowledgeable and thorough in his inspection. We like his work. the only isuue came where the crawl space was not accessible so he could not complete is inspection. He indicated he would come out again once the crawl space was opened up. However, when I called him he said he was too busy and referred me to a colleague who was wiling to coem out but for an additonal cost. I think Jory should have completed the assignment as the home inspection was not complete

AThe Real Seal LLC
Jorge, the service person who did the work was a great combination of friendliness, professionalism and applicable information. He explained the work to be done and other areas where work might be needed. He answered all of my questions in detail and worked efficiently and carefully. This company has provided outstanding service since my first contact with customer service, during the in-home inspection and for the quality of the work done. When everyone you have contact with in a company shows the same level of excellent service, you can be sure it is a company value.. I wish I could give Real Seal an A+ rating. An estimate from a well-advertised competitor was over $700 more.

AInspection Connection
Mike was great. He was recommended to us by a friend who just bought a house. He was very punctual and even beat us to the house for the inspection. He was very thorough and caught things we would have never thought of (structural beams not secured to concrete), animal droppings in the crawl space, among other things. He saved us a good amount of money at closing! I would highly recommend.

ADomicile Consulting LLC
Completed a home inspection.  This is the third time I've used Domicile.  This was a single family home, with a crawl space.  Morgan spent three hours providing a thorough report.  He spent an extensive amount of the time in the crawl, ensuring we had all the information required.  Arrived on time (early), and provided the report quickly.  Also provided follow-up information. I couldn't be happier with the service.

ADomicile Consulting LLC
We have bought and sold 4 homes and this was by far the best inspection we've ever had. We are wary of realtor-recommended inspectors who we fear are "in cahoots" with realtors to "overlook" items to make sure a deal goes through. We want a detailed inspection, a timely and thorough report, and a knowledgeable inspector. We got all of these with Domicile. Scheduling. Fast and easy via their modern website. This is the way all inspection companies should run. You can pick the date, appointment time, and inspector and book it, with prices of the inspection up front. Good profiles of the inspectors were on the site as well to make an informed decision, along with previous Angie's List reviews of Domicile. I missed getting the inspector and time I originally wanted, but was able to call them and a real human actually answered the phone, which was not typical for most inspectors where you have to leave a message and wait for a call back.  Our inspector. Christi Malone did a very thorough job, and left no stone unturned. I was a bit concerned since she had no previous reviews on Angie's List and had only been with the company less than a year. However, she did a great job (delivering on the experience and quality promise of the company) and was very friendly, not making us feel like we were intruding asking questions, bringing items to her attention and looking over her shoulder. We liked that she had an architecture background. She endured a mouse (eek) encounter in the crawlspace, and mold in the attic. We especially respected that after 3 hours, she noted that the home had not properly put headers in a few rooms where they had removed walls, and put in the extra effort to go BACK into other attic to explore. I can't imagine another inspector doing this. Well, her second visit uncovered significant mold in the rafters and improper venting in the attic. She also took the time to fill an entire jacuzzi tub and test it. It, of course, leaked. Not sure every inspector would have done this as well. My only negative was minor, I felt Christi could have been a bit quicker, but I was ok with her process because I felt she was being careful and conscientious, not trying to rush through to get to another appointment. I really appreciated this. In my experience, some inspectors have an "attitude" and don't like to be talked to, or questioned by clients. Not so with Christi. Radon test. We made a "game day" decision to add on a radon test after the inspection had already started. We called Domicile and they sent out Kelly Sibert within 40 minutes. That was quick and painless, and we felt very professional...they never pushed us to add on this service. Kelly was great as well, very informative and experienced. Report. Very thorough, lots of photos and electronic delivery via PDF. All communication, scheduling, payment and follow up was quickly and efficiently delivered via email or the web.  Outcome.  Based on their inspection, we decided to notify the seller that the home was unacceptable and thus terminated our contract. We felt that their findings helped us avoid a potential money pit. Though not the cheapest, I would work with Domicile again for an inspection in a heartbeat!

BPerma-Seal Basement Systems
We had a dirt floor crawl space and a concrete floor crawl space in our home. Both spaces were very cold and nasty looking. We wanted a solution that would help us become more energy efficient and at the same time create some additional storage space. We initially met with a Perma Seal consultant who walked us through what could be done. He suggested we start by installing insulation in both spaces-which we did through another vendor-and then Perma Seal would install their vinyl liner into the space. Long story short the liners are great-the spaces are bright, clean and dry and we now have a lot more storage space.

AAccu-Dry Waterproofing & Concrete Pumping
I got bids from 3 companies to concrete crawl space. Two companies spent most of their time cutting down each other and their prices were $1,000 - 2,000 higher than Accu-Dry. Accu-Dry preseneted a simpler approach that handled the basic problem. Crews arrived on time and completed most of job in one day - they had to come back a few days later to do insulation after concrete dried. Crawl space looks good and sump pump has handled recent rainfall without any problems.
