Recent Review: Bill Hoskins came out to give an estimate on the work I wanted completed, and since he was the last one to give me an estimate, I chose to hire him before he left. His estimate was in the same range as the 2 previous contractors estimated, however, he asked more questions about the products I was using, and about my preferences, and seemed like he had a lot of experience to draw upon. Also, he was the only one willing to move the furniture, and while he did charge for the moving of the furniture, it was a resonable charge. The other companies either would not move the furniture, or charged an exorbinate amount to do so. He only required that I remove breakables from the areas he was working, and took great care when moving my furniture, I do have some heavy pieces that required moving. He also provided the waterproof underlay for the flooring and some finished moulding. The first day he arrived on time, and got to work immediately, at the end of the first day all the carpeting had been removed and the majority of the lower level of my home had the basic flooring in place. Due to an error on my part, there was not enough materials available to complete the job in the three days he had estimated, but he was very flexible and once the materials had been received and an agreeded upon date had been made, he return to complete the job. The flooring looks great! I am very happy with the work he did. The only thing I would have changed would be the amount of sawdust that was everywhere during and after installation. He did try to lessen the amount after I mentioned it by using a vaccuum saw, and vacuumming the areas before he left for the day. Overall, I feel he did an excellent job, so much so, that my friend asked him to come an give him an estimate for some simular work in his home.

Recent Review: I purchased materials and actually measured everything ahead of time. I had them come out. I am high maintenance, and ask a lot of questions and pay close attention while work is being done. They were very informative and educational. I actually told them they could use my name and number as a referral. I was very happy with how everything turned out.

Recent Review: I've owned homes for over twenty five years, and dealt with many contractors.  Duane Lilly of GreatWoods Installations is the bestI've dealt with.  He was prompt, courteous and professional in every way.  His skills are impecable.  We recieved high quality work and value fo ra very reasonable price.  His sub contractor who did the drywall taping was excellent, too.  I would recommend  Duane Lilly of GreatWoods installations without reservation.  Anyone thinking of doing a DIY remodeling job should call Duane and save themselves a lot of aggrevation, frustration and expense.  Duane worked everyday as scheduled and the job was done on time and on budget.  We saved so much moneythat we were able to upgrade bathroom fixtures and do the kitchen cabinets insteadof waiting to do them ourselves. Even an encounter with our angry German Shepherd didn't stop Duane.

Reviews in Knoxville to Install Laminate Flooring

FGround FX Flooring
I’m normally not the type of person to write reviews. Good or bad. But in this case I couldn’t not say anything. We had laminate flooring put in our whole home about 6 or 7 months ago by these guys and spent a good amount of money. We immediately started having issues with locking mechanisms breaking because of a poorly prepared subfloor. Mark, the owner who guarantees his work for a year sent a crew back to fix problem. Which they did and while laying the kitchen floor back down they glued every joint which is not a normal thing to do for laminate flooring. After about a week we still had the same problem with it breaking. Now he refuses to fix it because he found out his crew glued the whole kitchen floor and it will all have to be replaced to get to the problem area. He told us if we had to pursue legal ramifications that was fine which we are in the process of doing as we speak. Do yourself a big favor if you are considering hiring mark from ground Fx flooring to do your floor. DONT!! Save yourself some time and money and one **** of a headache.

Another great project by Mid-South Builders!  The floor is beautiful and even although I'm just now getting around to writing this review - we have been VERY pleased!   Jerrod went out of his way to get the perfect match for transition boards - and also had to replace one that de-laminated after a few weeks.  He stands behind his work and that is very important ... and refreshing!

FQuality Flooring Co., Inc.
It took 8 months from time of puchase (06/25/07) to finish the job (02/26/08). THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE ENCOUNTERED. I have a two page time line of events related to this job. The job was done for a house I was remodeling for my elderly mother (age 83 at the time of service). The carpeting wasn't ordered until I went to the store to get the final price. They didn't order enough wood laminate the first time. The wrong molding was ordered and it took over two months to get the correct moling. I was told three different start dates. They would call to say they were coming on a certain date to work on the job and not show up. The installer's son installed the vinyl flooring in four different areas of the home, and damaged all of the vinyl flooring. I wasn't told that the son had done the installation until the vinyl flooring was installed, and it's very obvious that he didn't know what he was doing. In the corners, the vinyl wasn't cut at a 90 degree angle. In one doorway, one edge had a scalloped edge to it. When I pointed out the damage, they replaced one area around the water supply line to a toilet with a patch and, in the other bathroom, they caulked around the the water supply line. The installer and his son never told the flooring store owner what happened until I told him in November. The store owner said they would be back to replace the flooring in the one bathroom, but they never called me. I had to call multiple times and was given four different dates before the installer showed up to replace the flooring. By then, I had requested that both bathroom floors be replaced and they did that. After he left, I realized they had used a much cheaper and thinner product to replace the vinyl. I made ten to twelve trips to the store to order the products and pick it up. One time, they charged me for seven boxes of wood laminate, but loaded five boxes in my car. Another time, I called to check on the status of the molding. The salesman, who knew I had been out of the country, asked how my trip went. I told him I had a dream that the flooring job was done. He responded, "Keep on dreaming." At the time, I had been waiting over six weeks. The molding wasn't in that day, but six days later when my husband called, they said it had been sitting in the warehouse for a few days. They said the installer would call in a half hour to schedule an appointment. He didn't. Three days later, my mother called to talk to the owner. A saleswoman, who happens to be married to the installer, took the call and told my mother the owner was with a customer. He never did call my mother. This happened in September. Whenever I would call about the situation, the owner always said they were so busy. There's no reason this job should have taken eight months. I have told friends and family members not to buy any flooring from this store. I'm still stunned at the treatment I received.

FGround FX Flooring
Well I'll just go ahead and elaborate for those to know that she simply wasn't done right! The owner Mark approached her in the flooring section of a department store, selling his products! He came to her home and she showed the rooms she would like to have redone and he gave her a look at some sample flooring. All is well and she gets the floor put in...the flooring starts to separate in places and he comes to fix it but in the meantime her water heater bust (no ones fault) her insurance covered the cost to have the floor replaced. Well Mark and his guys said they'd do the floor work again and get back to normal. They put the floor down alright and then later the floor began to buckle and bulge bc it was put down on wet subflooring. Mark wasn't happy about all that but came back to fix it. Well a few weeks down the road her floor is separating again like it was previously before the water heater issue. He blames it on the flooring bc he said it had done this exact same thing to another lady and he would have a guy from the supplier come out and evaluate it so she could get her floor fixed! That guy comes and many months of what seemed like pulling teeth nothing gets done! She's highly unhappy with the flooring the Mark RECOMMENDED (she picked the color) simply because it doesn't stay together. So Mark says well that her floor is coming apart bc she has rolling chairs in her kitchen. Ok maybe so? But maybe Mark should have considered that before HIGHLY RECOMMENDING the flooring of choice! Why would someone pick out a flooring for a kitchen that she she couldn't use her current dinning table and chairs with? I think she spent enough on the flooring to not need to spend money on a new set?! Don't ya think? So over $4,000+ later she still has gaps in all the flooring! That to me does not deserve even one star! Shame on us!? Shame on Mark who took advantage of elderly retired couple who used their hard earned money on flooring that is not pleasing to the eye whatsoever due to the gapping! Mark told the BBB he would make things right for my mother in law and fix the issues. A few weeks later he declined to make things right. So my mother in law now has a very expensive flooring she is highly unhappy with and is just sick she has to replace it after all the time and money spent! He did not work in a timely manner and was highly unprofessional with the response time, as he ignored her requests for months! Absolutely disgusting that someone can take advantage of the retired elderly and their hard earned money!

AMid South Builders
I contacted Mid South Builders in November, 2005. We discussed at length what I wanted in a new home. In two weeks, Jerrod had drawn up plans for my new home. With my ok, the house was started by the end of November. I lived across the street from my new home site, so I had a front row seat to watch the daily progress. Jerrod kept me apprized of every step of the building. We discussed going all electric, but I was concerned about the cost of my utility bills. Jerrod suggested double wall for added insulation. I'm happy to report my summer electric bill is under $100.00 and winter is around $200.00. It was never a problem if I wanted to make changes in the construction, Jerrod would just smile and say ok. When it was time for the flooring, I thought I wanted carpet throughout. Jerrod talked me into trying Laminate, I liked it so much I put it in half the house. I wanted stone on the backsplash in my kitchen, but it was just too expensive. Jerrod suggested I pick ceramic tile, and he would make it look like stone. He cut and filed every piece . He was right, it does look like stone. When I hired Mid West Builders to build my home, I had no idea that everything would go so smoothly. They took care of every aspect of this construction, and no job was too small for them to complete. I am now retired and thinking of down sizing, if I do I will call Mid South Builders.
