Recent Review: My frontyard top soil was getting eroded for over an year. I didn't know the reason until one day (it was a Friday) I found that the sewer pipe got blocked and a toilet flush led to overflow. I immediately checked Angie's List and called Reading & Son Plumbing. They promptly sent a person who came for inspection and said soil & gravel from frontyard got inside the pipe from breakage and blocked it. He used a machine to clear up the pipe but there was a lot more soil & gravel stuck deep inside the broken sewer pipe. He said they need to excavate the frontyard to eventually replace the pipe with a new one. They also came on the Saturday and all the work took 6 hours of labor to complete. They did excellent work and it is now about 1 year afterwards and I didn't have any problems whatsoever with the sewer line after that day.

Mike Yordy Excavation & Land Improvement Inc
Recent Review: Yordy Excavating has been our mainstay for the exterior and interior work on our project to build a large indoor riding arena. With much consultation and ongoing alteration of plans, Mike Yordy has been a pleasure to work with over the last year. He is friendly and more than happy to explain his plans for the work. Prices are not the lowest in the market but the quality of the completed work speaks for itself. Yordy is wholly professional, prompt, tidy and very hardworking. He goes above and beyond the scope of work to make sure that the finished job is as it should be (or better). He worked with me to install a lime base for my indoor horse-riding arena and it has turned out extremely well. I could not be more pleased with it. I wouldn't use anyone else for any construction or landscaping projects I have on my property and I would highly recommend Yordy Excavating.

Al Bragg Co
Recent Review: Al answered his own phone, made the appointment at a time after normal work hours explaining some days run longer than others and in the future if I got a voice mail he would call back ASAP. The nature of the work requires heavy equipment to be run and sometimes he does not hear his phone. He was very prompt on the estimate, had the quote in writing, and required a deposit. Job day, Al arrived early with his trailer loaded with a mini excavator and 3 different buckets, chain and concrete saws, plus other hand tools. Al has been in business over 40 years and loves what he does, it shows, he is an expert. We will hire him again! LMH

David Burling & Son Excavating Inc
Recent Review: I had my 37 year old concrete septic tank pumped out ( every third year) and the workman called me to warn me that the baffles were lying on the bottom of the tank. He told me this was common in tanks installed more than 20 years ago. He suggested it would be a very good idea to have them fixed as floating much would get into the septic drain field and ruin it to the tune of 5 to 7,000 dollars to fix. Mr. Burling came out and estimated 500, which is what his bill totaled. His guys arrived on time and dug out the top of the septic tank, Kind of difficult as it was partly under my deck which I had to cut open, They then installed baffles on the inlet and outlet sides of the tank, installed a clean-out pipe into the house and a check pipe on the outlet side. After that they followed the tank outlet pipe to the concrete distribution box to make sure all parts of the system were in good order. Luckily for me they still were. Warning to others, If you live in an older home with a septic tank make sure you have them check that the baffles are in good order. The guys then put all the dirt back in place mounding it over to allow for subsidence. I called competitors and could not get a better price or speedier service.

They excavated my backyard in two different places, but they should have only done it in one place if they would have listened.  I had to call them to come back out to restore my property and the responsiveness was very poor and they did unneccesary work.

Our sewer backed up into our basement. We have a city sewer. The back up was not disastrous (minor clean up with the wet/dry vac) but did need to be cleared to avoid further problems. He made no attempt to at keeping the stairs down to the basement or the work area clean. Before he even started using his sewer snake he had already decided that we were going to have to dig to fix the problem. He spent a few hours trying clearing the clog in the basement but because his sewer snake only reached 100' and another clog was farther out than that he convinced us that we would have to dig. He gave us the name of another guy who would have to come out and run a camera through the drain to figure out where he would have to dig. We paid the guy to come out to video the drain but when he gave us a map of where the clog was the measurements didn't add up to 100'. I called another sewer cleaning company out for a second opinion. The second guy cleared the clog very thoroughly and we have not had any more problems. Bottom line is: • He was dirty • His equipment was not very good • He wants to dig up your yard (his main business is excavation) • We spent a lot of money and were no closer to a usable sewer
