Recent Review: This is my third job I've had Vance Remodeling and Restoration do for me. He is definitely my go to guy for any projects I want to do. Vance Remodeling and Restoration refinished my handicap ramp, pressure washed my house and driveway. The day they came was probably the hottest day in July but they were here. I think temperatures got up to 105 the days they were here. I felt so sorry for them but never heard them once complain about anything. I would go out and check on them and offer a bottle of water and I could stand it about five minutes. They did a wonderful job and just a real pleasure to work with. The ramp turned out great and looks brand new and they even added some spindles to add to it. I would definitely use Vance Remodeling and Restoration again and have. You can find out what I had done on my next review. Thanks Jim you're the best...Kathi

Recent Review: At first I wanted Adam to construct a white vinyl or composite deck. He brought over some samples which were very nice but when I found out that the vinyl deck would be twice the money as a wood deck, I changed my mind. He told me I would be happy with a wood deck and he was right. He built a quality deck in only a couple of days that is sturdy, solid and beautiful. He made two sets of stairs that are also very sturdy with beautiful gates to keep my dog and cats contained. He next put in a dishwasher by cutting out a cabinet. He used the cabinet wood to make moldings around the opening. It fits very nicely. He installed a garbage disposal and thought it should have its own power source from the dishwasher so there would be no blown fuses when I ran both at the same time. After the deck was finished, he put in a fence around the backyard with two gates. He did a fantastic job with the fence. He then cut through the wall in the hall and hollowed out a area to put in a linen closet. He then build the shell of the closet at home, painted it and fit it in to the hole. He finished with the molding and installed a 6 panel door that closed with a magnet. It backs up to another closet which he finished off with a rod and shelf. Overall, I am so pleased with his work. He is a perfectionist and told me to call in a couple of weeks if there was anything at all that I didn't like. He does quality work and I wouldn't think of using anyone else for any future remodeling or new construction. I would also like to add that that his helper, Terry, was great and very knowledgable.

Recent Review: My folks closed on their home on Thursday afternoon, and shortly thereafter, Jeff arrived to start the process.  Jeff presented in a very open, knowledgeable, and trustworthy manner, and was asked to complete the work in a very short window, as my dad has Alzheimer's and needed the ramp and steps installed to be able to ingress and egress the home.  Jeff was very sympathetic to this situation, and he also was very astute to the aesthetics of matching existing structures and decor.  He presented options that may have saved dollars, as well as options that enhanced appearance and perceived value of the home. Overall, we were very pleased with Jeff's professionalism, price, punctuality of response for change orders, and responsiveness when additions were requested -- even hooking up the washer and dryer in the new home. I would certainly recommend Jeff and his services to anyone looking for remodeling services.

FVance Remodeling and Restoration
Let me preface this review by stating that I am writing on behalf of my 71-year old mother. It has taken a long time for me to write this report, as we have had ongoing issues with Jim Vance getting him to finish work he began over a year ago. Initially I contacted Jim based on his Angie's List ratings to get a quote on a bathroom remodel. At the same time we had some interest in a rental property we owned and decided to use him to remodel that space first. We were excited to have him work as he seemed very punctual and professional (at first). We were completely wrong. During the intial phase of the work he made a number of attempts to collect payment before completion. Even worse, when he did submit bills to us they often included items such as new tools or cokes he bought while at the handware store. These were not new tools needed for this specific job, but tools he bought in addition to the approved products necessary to complete the remodel. When it was pointed out, he took them off (in some instances), but would then do the same thing the next time. During this purchasing, he apparently bought and used sub-standard materials that later cracked and broke (specifically wood on the handicap ramp he built!). Near the end there were MANY unfinished issues - such as the trim on the outside windows. He left them open and exposed. When we did get him to return to complete the trimming, he did such a horrible job we finally had to hire a different person just to finish his work. Since the end of the job, a number of issues have been found, including the broken ramp I previously mentioned. More recently, we were contacted about the linoleum he installed in the salon - it was apparently rolling and catching, with huge lumps forming under the product. When we looked, we found that it had not been attached to the floor in any manner! We once again called Jim to come and fix what we assumed to be a mistake (who doesn't use some kind of adhesive or tack with vinyl flooring?). It took days of unreturned phone calls to get him to come back, and when he did he said that when he put down vinyl flooring he didn't use any kind of adhesive or nails - that he just laid it there thinking that was good enough. He then counseled my mother to go and buy some bags of ice, to lay them on the lumps, and that would make them go down over time. When she told him that was unacceptable, that the floor needed to be properly glued down as this salon is mostly used by older ladies and the floor made the facility difficult to navigate for them, he told her that if we wanted him to do anything else with it we would have to pay him for the rehab. Needless to say, we will have to now find someone else to clean up the mess.
