Recent Review: Process went very well. Crew was punctual, professional, and attentive to detail. Answered all questions I had, which were many. I would definitely recommend them for anyone having a sewer line replace. Cost was $2000 cheaper than a neighbor who recently had a sewer line replace by a different company, who caused major disturbance to her front yard due to trenching.

Recent Review: Pretty well. Definitely knew what they were doing; Cost ran higher due to finding rock. Repair to grounds was not what we expected so had to hire additional help to remove debris, level landscape and install new sprinklers to facilitate regrowth.

Reviews in Worley to Prepare Building Site

AJEWELL EXCAVATING
Removed about 27+ trees I believe in total. Excavating for 30x40 shop area. Also included in the bid was removal of 8 or 9 dead trees in a different area. One tree was problematic next to an outbuilding and Matt found someone reliable to do the extra work at a good price. Ground was quite rocky and they did a great job of relocating the fill to my expectations. The fill removed ranged from 0 to about 7 ft below original grade. They tapered the side areas to avoid the need for a retaining wall. Good clean up as well.

John Barnes and his crew installed a new septic system for a new house I built.  Also they did all of my excavation work.  Everything was done very professionally and was of the highest quality.

It was a quick experience.  I asked him to estimate a couple of things so he did just one and came back again.  My daughter was here when he came back and she said he was a little bit rude.

They did the work but left the site a mess in the yard as they dug up the lawn. They broke one of my rakes by backing over it. They brought a new one back after I called them. When they did their work, they moved larger landscaping stones and just left them randomly stacked up and did not put them back the way they were before their work. I called them and they came back and fixed them after I noticed that (after the snow thawed). They also bent an access fence gate that they came through to do their work in my front and back yard. They tried to say my fence got bent from the snow berm (which has never happened in the 15 plus years I've lived in my home). I mentioned that there were many big rocks left in the yard at the time they came back to fix the fence. They told me at that time they'd come back in April or so and clean the big rocks out of the yard if I would just call them when I was available. I called them back and asked them to come back and do that because I was getting ready to hire someone to mow my yard and I didn't want them to get hurt with a big rock flying up when the lawn service mowed. Tina, who works in their office yelled and me and told me they were not sending anyone back to my place and told me to deal with it myself. Eventually, she learned that the guy who came to fix my fence (I think his name is Steve) had already promised to take care of the rock issue when he was there fixing the fence. She called me back and apologized and they sent someone to clean up the big rocks. Most recently, as I was getting yard work done, we tried to find my mow strip for the front flower bed where they had moved larger and smaller landscape stones when they did the work. They picked up smaller landscape stones when they dug up my yard and placed them over the mow strip so I could not see the mow strip. I also found three loose mow strip stones that they just placed in my flower bed after working on spring cleanup and weeds were pulled in that area. I did not notice this before because it was hard to tell with the lawn growth and weed growth in the flower bed and lawn growth this spring. I called last week to see if they would come and fix them and I was told by Tina, they would not send someone to fix that and I had to fix them myself. I told her I was going to file a complaint with Labor and Industries. She told me to go ahead and do that. I am waiting before I do that to see if Angie's List is able to resolve this matter. I had my sprinker system started this spring, C and C (the company that does my yard work) found two broken parts that they attributed to Norm's doing the excavation work on my property. They had to replace these parts. Tina at Norm's agreed to pay for the labor and parts related to their work but C and C said it's likely I will have more issues with my sprinkler system due to the work that Norm's did and for me to expect that.

When the sewer/drain pipe backed up, we called in another company (Company X) to look into the pipe. The person from Company X snaked a camera into the pipe and claimed it had collapsed. Asked to give us a quote to fix it, the person went to his truck and instead of returning with an estimate, drove off. We couldn't go without using our bathroom facilities, so called Kalin Excavating. This was on a Saturday morning, and by noon, the gentleman from Kalin Excavating arrived, snaked his camera into the pipe and showed us the pipe was clear, structurally sound (save a few tree roots growing into it), and had not collapsed as we had been told by Company X. The gentleman from Kalin Excavating even showed us what the camera was seeing, and in fact, put the camera all the way through to the city sewer system twice for the visual proof. He said there was no need to replace the pipe at a cost of $5,000-$7,000 when all the pipe needed was the tree roots removed. So, he then called a roto-rooting service, again this on a Saturday, who arrived to take care of the tree roots. By the way, 10 days later (did Company X really think we'd be content to wait 10 days and not be able to use the facilities during that time?!), we received a quote from Company X for $5,000 plus. Had we not called Kalin Excavating, and had they not been honest and ethical, we would have spent $5,000 unnecessarily for work that didn't need doing, for a pipe that did not need replacing. We could not be any more grateful for and much appreciative of Kalin Excavating. We would use them again, and recommend them to anyone, in a heart beat.

I did as much research as I could to find a reasonable excavation company for our sewer hookup and although Larry Miller didn't have many reviews, what impressed me was that they were willing to come out and give me a bid on a Saturday, my day off. They were friendly and were fair on their bid. When the work was performed, they arrived right on time and prepared the ground with mats to minimize damage to the lawn from the mini backhoe. The excavation wasn't easy because they had to dig under the pad for our patio to reach the sewer line that comes out of the house and they did the hookup without damaging the pad. Although they did hit one of our sprinkler lines during the excavation, it was expected and they repaired it at no charge. I will say they worked hard that day to get done on time and do it right. We were very impressed with their work and everything seemed to go smoothly.

Called them to get a bid on a small excavating job.  Said they would let me know and I haven't heard anything. I get it is a small job but a call saying we aren't interested would be nice.

When I get an estimate for a job, I expect the bill to come within 10% of the estimate. When a contractor starts charging for more rock than they said they'd need, I get cranky. They were supposed to be the experts on septic installation, but by disturbing (excavating) the soil around the test pit, Panhandle Health said that area wouldn't work for a drainfield anymore. Shouldn't my septic/excavator contractor known better? Caused me to spend more money pumping to a distant drainfield instead.

ASam's Lawn & Tree Landscaping
We had Sam's come out to remove a large, ill ponderosa, remove concrete that was stored there from a previous project and excavate a pad for a new tool shed. They provided the estimate in a timely manner and showed up to work at 8AM sharp on the agreed date. While they were here we asked about some trimming of front yard trees and limbing up a few more of the Ponderosa Pines. They gave us an estimate right there and completed the work the same day.  While doing the leveling for the pad the excavator was very good about asking how we would like it and was good about not damaging another trees roots. While we were talking he suggested some gravel for the pad which is what we thought should go there. We had them do the gravel too and it came out beautiful. One of the chippers sprang a hydraulic leak on our driveway and the crew took special effort to make sure it was all cleaned up. They were very good about cleanup and finish work and we are very happy with the job.
