Recent Review: College Pro Painters was supposed to show up three times and didn't and we were not getting straight answers out of them over the phone. He finally subcontracted the work to Angel Ramos. The price I paid was higher than the orginal estimate as we were told that we would have to pay extra for a job well done. Next time, I will cut out College Pro and go right to Angel Ramos.

Recent Review: I began accepting bids on June 15 with various vendors.  Treasure Valley Exteriors was able to do all that needed doing and I accepted their bid on June 30.  The work was completed within a month, and that included two weeks for the manufacturer to build and ship the window.  The siding carpenter and his assistant were on time, completed their work in a timely manner and were finished the same day.  The window specialist and his assistant arrived early and had the new window installed in about a half hour, including the cleanup.  With the upgrade to a more efficient window the difference in heat transfer into the house from the south-aspect window is VERY noticeable, making our air conditioner run less even on the hottest days.Gabriel and his two-person painting crew pressure washed the house and left it several days to dry before starting the paint job.  The painting of the entire exterior of the house began and finished the same day the window was installed, and that included prepping the house for painting.  The painting crew was clean and efficient and did all the trim work by hand with brushes.  Before the end of the day Gabe had me conduct a walk-around inspection with him on all the spray-painted portions of the house to make sure they met my expectations.  Then a bit later we repeated the inspection for the trim work, and Gabe touched up all the minor spots my wife and I were able to find.  One of the company owners (Matt) came out himself to the roofing work to mitigate the roof drainage and assure it traveled into the gutter.   Rockne Penka was the company sales representative I worked with from day one.  He was my contact and served as the ?contractor?s representative? to assure all work was done as timely as possible to agreed upon specifications and to our satisfaction.  I would recommend working with Rockne for a contractor?s representative in a heart-beat and will keep him in mind when I replace the other windows in my residence. Treasure Valley Exteriors's bid was about one-third the cost of another bidder for the same work (less one vent screen that I decided did not need replacing).

Recent Review: Door brand was recommended and we looked at them before they were ordered. It took about two weeks for the doors to be built. When the time came, they were basically installed in one full day of work which included all outside and inside trim. They needed to return a day later in order to finish the threshold on one of the doors as it needed to "cure" overnight. Again, we are very happy with the quality of the doors and the finish work.

ANBR Home Services - Handyman For North Idaho
I found NBR Home Services through a friend shortly after buying my first home. It is an older house and had things that needed attention right away plus some items that I wanted done before moving in. Hiring someone to do the work concerned me because I have heard horror stories about contractors not showing up or skipping out with part of the money and not finishing the job. Wow, what a difference you get with NBR Home Services. Scott, the owner, did a WONDERFUL job with everything I had done! Scott, showed up each day at the exact time he said he would and had everything finished in less time than I thought it would take. All my friends were very impressed with the quality of the work done. If you have something you need done I highly suggest you call Scott today…

CChamber's Home Services
Mr Chambers did arrive at my home on the date and time agreed upon. He installed the cabinet and wasn't sure how to install the trim on top of the cabinet. The toekick had not been included in the delivery. Mr Chambers was at my home for approximately 4hours. When he finished installing the cabinet he suggested that he return for the additional 4hours when I received the toe kick and he would complete installation of the cabinet trim and toe kick. He stated to let him know when I received it and he would come right out to finish this job. When I received the material necessary to complete the work I contacted him and he emailed that he would put me on Friday's schedule. I never heard from him after receiving that email. I emailed him again through the Angie's List message service and never received a response back. I requested he complete the job or refund me $94.50 for the 4 additional hours I had previously paid for upfront when I purchased the service. I have no complaints regarding the quality of his work or his professionalism on the job. I would just like to have this service completed or if he is too busy with other jobs to be refunded $94.50, which is half of the total sum charged for 8 hrs of service that I only received 4 hours of so I can hire someone else to complete it.

AJ & J Construction
We are more than satisfied with the work done by J&J Construction for the residing and window/door replacement project.  The crew worked hard when they were here, and always completely cleaned up the job site when the left at the  end of each day.  Jerry provided lots of ideas for our residing project - he is at no loss for ideas!  This was really helpful, as we had not even considered board and batten siding, but it was a good choice for our house type and for the southern wind and sun exposure.   The job foreman was quick to pick up on problem areas which always crop up in older homes: *Roof drainage in one corner was a problem as it overwhelmed the existing gutter and caused water to funnel in at the top of the window - not a good scenario for keeping water out.  He and Jerry worked out a good gutter arrangement that channeled less water to that corner and moved water away from the top of the window.  We had a couple of rainstorms that proved it's worth. *The job foreman noticed a problem on an side exposure that was not in the original scope of work where the flashing was in front of the old siding, and suggested we reside that bit as well, putting the flashing behind the siding to prevent water from getting in. The crew paid attention to details:  They took the time to re-stain areas after expansion/contraction exposed new unstained areas.  They replaced old unpainted screws on the window trim around the remainder of the house with new painted screws around the entire house, so that the new trim and old trim would be more uniform.  A minor detail, but it blended the old and the new together. Jerry gets pretty busy and missed an email from me on work scope that caused a delay in waiting for a window to arrive - but he is very responsive to phone calls.   We highly recommend J&J Construction, hands down.

AKimbells Home Center
We purchased a Pocatello house built in 1981; several items were noted on the pre-purchase building inpsection. Mr. Kimbell was able to either do the work himself or find someone to assist (i.e. a liscensed electrician) when the task was beyond his capabilities. Mr. Kimbell was unbelievably responsive, reasonably priced and FAST. In addition to completing what we contracted, he went above and beyond with recommendations for other service providers to assist us, who are new to the state. If Mr Kimbell is an example of the type of people in Pocatello, we will be extremely happy living here.

AJess Construction
After hiring Jess Construction last year, we were completely happy with the work and the cost of our previous remodel. So we rehired them to do many new projects this year. Things went excellently this year, and we are perfectly satisfied with the work again. Our house looks beautiful inside and out, and it's completely updated now. Our garage used to be a huge messy pile of stuff that we had never properly stored. Now we can park both cars inside, we have organized and stored all our stuff, and have plenty of new storage space in the cabinets and shelves if we need it later. Plus we have a very nice little work shop. Inside, we finished the last bathroom update, and it is beautiful. Our walls and staircase are all spruced up, no cracks in the ceiling, great paint job. The woodwork and trim is even cleaned up and refinished. The exterior paint job included lots of sanding and removal of old peeling paint from our cedar siding. Bill went way above and beyond what any other painting contractor would have done. All our siding and trim is now restored and looks fantastic. I would say Bill is a perfectionist. Even so, he always finished the work on time. He never left our job to work on another, never made us wait, and was always on schedule, even if there were unanticipated problems (in remodeling there always are). He worked extra, when he needed, so he always stayed on schedule. We recommended him to several friends, and they are also fully satisfied with the work he did for them.

ASimply Sustainable, LLC
Simply Sustainable did wonderful workmanship and a timely install on this remodel job. The windows look great and the finish work on the window wraps were of high quality. They went above and beyond doing extra things that that were not a part of the original scope of work, such as swapping us to several fluorescent bulbs, trimming bushes to provide breathable air space between the yard and side of the house, and twice cleaning up after my sick dog, rather than leaving it until I returned home from work. They were courteous and friendly, and made every attempt to accommodate my hours and my activities and work with us at a distance. I was grateful for the on-going communication so I could be prepared for what would be happening each day. Their knowledge base from past projects was evident, and they were extremely helpful in going over the different options and affordable pricing and showed a desire to please us. Simply Sustainable listened well, added helpful insights and provided excellent work. They have earned our trust and I would recommend Simply Sustainable to any fellow Angie?s List clients.
