Recent Review: He told me he would bring a crew in and have the work done within a week. The following week, he had only done about a third of the work. One window was finished. The new home I was moving into had to be ready by July, so I was on a rather strict timeline. He did not seem to concerned about keeping to the schedules I was hoping for. This was not only frustrating, but caused issues with the entire project; as the drywall man could not start until the windows and doors were in. On top of this, the front door he installed was not up to the standards I was hoping for. He was unresponsive when I tried to contact him about this. He did not show up when expected. He was incredibly messy, not only in the house but in the yard. I had to pick up scrap lumber, bent nails, etc. etc. etc., as well as as many cigarette butts. I had a dumpster in front of the house, but I was the only one using it. Virtually everything he did had to be redone, either before or after I moved into the house.

Recent Review: Picked up the door from store, arrived at stated time.  Had experience with the style and type of door.  Made corrections due to door jamb flaws, knew the special unique aspects of the particular door.     Quickly and efficiently installed door, cleaned up mess and was done in less than 2 hrs.

Recent Review: He is a personal friend too, and that makes a difference. He bills us periodically, we had him do quite a lot of work, and he didn’t charge us very much. He just does good work, and he is a professional who is very meticulous at what he does. He works for Home Depot on exchange or something, so when I need him, he can’t always come, but he comes as soon as he can find the time. I would rate him as excellent on that because he is really good when he finds the time. There are several handymen that we have tried, and they either never show up, or they show up once and don’t come back, so we just stuck with him.

Recent Review: We initially contacted Jerry Stuart of J & J Construction for help with removal of our 3 tree stumps.  In getting an estimate for that we found out the he did many other types of work.  We asked him for an estimate for replacing our patio door (form the house), fixing our cracking patio and an RV pad.  In walking around, Jerry pointed out that our roof line was sagging due to an improperly installed post and discussed with us what we could do to fix it.  Needless to say our initial bid for removal of tree stumps soon blossomed into a full blown project.  Jerry was very good about discussing our options and very flexible in accommodating our needs.  Together we came up with a plan and work began the next day!!  Work began on October 20, 2012 and despite weather delays and additional work we added, we were completed by November 13, 2012.  Jerry and his team are extremely hard workers and have an incredible attention to detail.   The work that they completed for us is even better than I could have imagined.  It was fun working with them in coming up with ideas on some of the finish work.  I really appreciate have a crew that is on time, works a full day and works on Saturdays to get things done.  And did I mention their work is awesome!!

He is a perfectionist, which worked to my advantage and disadvantage: the finished work is high quality, but it took him a long time to complete it. He had been working for other people and had gotten his contractor's license, bonding and insurance immediately before he began working for me. He gives clearly written, detailed estimates and then follows them. However, when he was working for me he was still learning to be self-directed; the work would have gone faster if I'd given him lists of tasks in the order in which I wanted them completed. However, this is a matter of experience. He is a very clean and tidy workman, and very honest. He was in my house without me for a couple of weeks after I moved in, and was perfectly trustworthy. I will definitely call him again when I need work.
