Business Description: General Contractor - Residential & Commercial - One call to us takes care of all your construction needs. Most of our business comes to us as repeat business and referrals from our happy customers. Much of our work is on recreational properties. Our owners trust us with their homes. They know we will do the job they want, with no supervision from them, within their budgetary guidelines, and that we will be finished on time. All of this is important because most of our owners have set times they visit their lakefront and recreational cabins.

Recent Review: My wife and I had been talking about updating our kitchen for some time and contacted several different companies before contacting Berry Built and Design. All of the companies we talked with asked us what we wanted to do, and then told us how much it would cost. Matt and Sara Berry of Berry Built and Design were the only ones who had the vision to show us what we could do, not only with the kitchen but also how an open concept could include the dining and living room also. Once we saw their vision for what our kitchen could become we were sold. There was no pressure to make up our mind, in fact we even waited a year before we had it done.  Once we decided to have Berry Built and Design do the job things moved along very quickly. There were workers at our home every day, and we were always kept informed of what to expect. The workmen who did the work could not have been more pleasant and professional, and always cleaned up before leaving for the day.   As with any project of this size, things were bound to come up that were not anticipated and Matt or Jerry from Berry Built were always able to explain what the problems were, and always had a solution to those problems.  We never realized all the choices that needed to be made for this remodel, from picking out floor color, to what kind of sink to get , what kind of faucet, what colors to paint the walls, ceiling, and trim, what type of counter top and what color etc. It could have been overwhelming if it weren’t for Sara and Manda at Berry Build. They were always available to offer suggestions, send over samples, and let us know based on there expertise what would go together from a design point of view.  I can’t say enough about the quality of work done by the professionals who work for and with Berry Built and Design, and it is a comfort to know that if problems were to come up in the future that we have one point of contact for whatever might need to be taken care of.  We are enjoying our remodeled home with all the new updated conveniences and have received nothing but  great comments from friends and family when they see the work done by Berry Built and Design. We are very please with our decision to use Berry Built and Design and would not hesitate for a second to recommend them to others..

Recent Review: i have used DuPont construction since 2007 after a previous recommendation. All jobs were fairly priced, no surprises, excellent attention to the smallest detail, the ability to improvise when needed (as is sometimes the case when renovating or remodeling a space that has lacked attention for many years or has been abused), excellent communication between ourselves when discussing the project at hand. I cannot say enough about this working duo. They deserve a hearty handshake for jobs so well done. I think they could do a better job with one arm tied behind their backs than most! Definitely 5 stars in every area.

Recent Review: Excellently! The cabinets were high quality wood ones. Everything was done on time and we are very pleased with the beautiful kitchen we now have. Thanks to Gene Black of NW Granite for his assistance. Also, great installation of the kitchen by Steve Filenko and AboveAllContracting. Recent Review: Unique Cabinets had conducted the now existing kitchen upgrade in 2003 for previous owner. We own a standing refrigerator and a standing freezer units, so a 2nd appliance surround was needed. Also desired new cabinetry on the adjoining kitchen-dining room. Tom answered my initial call promptly. Came to the initial visit having reviewed the previous upgrade. He designed a very nice addition in line with my desires which weren't always easy to detail clearly. Also discussed possible future remodel of the upgrade to move and enlarge the island. Took a couple visits to ensure measurements were spot on and matched existing cabinet dimensions. I also found the shear options of counter tops to be very daunting and hard to visualize the results. The existing granite countertops are not easy to match or complement. Choosing a fine grained oak helped insure the busy color-textured kitchen both was 'quieted' and ensured the new cabinets looked like the 'arts and crafts' type built ins I've always loved. Workmanship was excellent; while it took several days (at least one awaiting granite cutting), the workmen always left the area clean and tidy. They were friendly and professional. The kitchen and adjoining dining room are now unified and balanced in function and 'feel'. I am very, very pleased with the look and quality. My only complaints: Contract was signed in late August, they were not available to start until early October; which meant they held 50% down for 6 weeks. Drawer pulls and knobs were not available in the same finish as existing upgrade.

Recent Review: We should have known at the beginning this job was going to stink bad and we were being taken for a ride. We were supposed to start at the end of July 2008, after the 20th due to a party we were having prior to the remodel. Kitchen Tune-up (KTU) called in late spring, asking if we wanted to start June 20-something. NO! After the 20th of July, or didn't he read his notes before he called? We demoed the kitchen from July 23rd to July 29th, as KTU was supposed to start on the 30th. Yep, they started as advertised, scraping the kitchen/dining room area on the first 2 days. After that, the project went downhill--like on a black diamond run at a ski hill, gaining speed, in search of a crash site in the trees preferably with a large rock at the end. (At least that's what it felt like by the end of the project 3 months later, as in Oct 25th.) The next thing that was supposed to happen was base cabinet installation according to the owner. The worker, however, installed the upper cabinets which was the sensible way to install them so the base cabinets weren't in the way. But, when they hung the uppers, they were CROOKED!!! Not square, not level, not even close. There were 3 or 4 holes drilled to find studs, meaning I had 3 or 4 holes in the back of my cabinets covered up with a dirty sticker for each hole! I guess they didn't own a stud finder? On workday 4, all work slowed, became spotty at best for the rest of the job and the workmanship deteriorated exponentially. What should have been a 3-week TOPS project was drawn out to 3 months. The final straw was finding out our cabinets were actually 3/4 inch shorter than the standard counter height of 36 inches which meant our freestanding flat-top stove that was supposed to slide in and be even with the countertops was now USELESS to us. The granite countertops were already set with a jumper bar that was supposed to bump up to the back of the flat cooktop framing it nicely, so our only choice was to get another slide-in stove that had a back on it instead. The jumper bar was removed after a herculean effort by the granite guy. Granted, KTU paid for half of the new stove but it was their own fault. It got so bad and stupid that the workers GLUED the lazy susan in place (what???) and even threw their joint compound wastewater into our bushes. When asked by the owner to pick up the chunks of compound in the bushes, the worker chucked them into the street instead. Anyhow, both workers were eventually fired then stole KTU's tools the same day, KTU lost our house key (they bought us a new lockset), more than half of the handles were installed crooked by those workers they fired, and several of our walls/ceilings/doorjambs were riddled with minor damage. The shame of it all was 6 out of 8 KTU "trust points" were broken by the 12th workday, yet the owner thought our job was going great. Not very perceptive, that one. After this experience, I tell everyone I know NOT TO HIRE KITCHEN TUNE-UP.

FTresko Monument Co dba Washington Stone
30 days later I had not heard back from them with a bid. My cabinet contractor uses their services and after hearing from me of their no response advised them during a contact for another client that I had not heard. I received a prefunctory phone call from Dick: and quot;I heard we never got back to you with a bid. It's $$$.and quot; No written bid, no apology for being 'dropped.' This company evidently confusing living clients with the deceased individuals they make cemetery monuments for. I will never use them and also suggest no one else do. Thankfully there are many other options in Spokane.
