Recent Review: Initial contact by telephone to arrange estimate.  Doug (owner) arrived at appointed time for the estimate.  Very chatty, experienced, and helpful - was very willing to answer our questions about several concrete trouble spots around our house. Suggested that entryway steps were fine structurally and could just be resurfaced - a big cost savings for us. Estimate was delivered by telephone two days later; very reasonable price for the amount of work. Accepted immediately and scheduled work then. Doug and his crew arrived on time for the job (a Saturday); Doug explained exactly what would be happening and when it would be happening, then left the crew to work. The crew were quite friendly and efficient - the demolition took only a couple of hours and they then started on the resurfacing. They noted that the resurfacing compound that they had been provided was a new mix and they were uncertain whether it would be up to their standards or not. Turned out to not meet their standards; after covering about one-fourth of the surface, they removed the applied compound and left to procure their normal resurfacing compound. As it was late afternoon at this point, there was not sufficient time to complete the resurfacing that day. To my surprise, they reappeared Sunday morning and resurfaced the entryway steps. The crew returned Monday morning to set up the molds and pour the sidewalk. Again, very efficient and professional. One interesting note - one of the crew members was quite irritated with the concrete supplier for cleaning the chute in the gutter in front of our house. He asked to borrow our hose to clean this up, then proceeded to shovel up the debris and hose clean the gutters. The new sidewalk has been wonderful - level, appropriately graded, and well done. The resurfaced steps look better than new. An excellent overall experience - we would happily recommend them for any concrete work and will contact them when we have need of concrete work in the future.

Recent Review: Came and tore out old concrete and was planning on finishing the job the next day, but because my old driveway had been so broken and cracked, the ground underneath was so wet it was almost mud. So they waited a week while the ground dried out. Then came and prepped the ground put gravel down and fully compacted it. Put rebar anchors in my existing slab and steps, and poured my new 6" slab. I needed a 6" slab because I occasionally park my semi truck in my driveway. Then they poured the new sidewalk to city code, and broom finished everything. They then put sealer on the whole job. Came back the next day to remove their forms and even back filled dirt to fill the gaps to my lawn. Then blocked the driveway so no one would accidentally drive on it for the next week while everything cured properly. Throughout my experience with this company, any and all questions or concerns that I had were answered promptly. The owner, Nick Jensen, was always available, and usually on site working right along with his employees. Excellent job, would hire them again.

Recent Review: Responded immediately doug footings, added gravel and compacted the 24x32 pad.  Set up the frame and pored and finished service then sweep for non skid icing.  After completion of pad came back and filled in dirt to pad and raked. Seal construction did such a great job we contracted him to do the side walk an a circular 12 ft. pad for a cement picnic table. again he was prompt and below cost of other contractors meeting all specifications and expectations.  I would recommend Seal Construction to any body.

Recent Review: Their first job was to pour the basement slab in my new home.   First, I live in an area that is known to have high levels of radon gas, so I put down a 6 mil plastic vapor barrier on top of the base course of gravel.  Chamberlain Concrete then added rebar, tied it together and supported it with rebar chairs  (supports).  The rebar chairs were inappropriate for the application and had narrow feet, that when the crew stepped on them, punctured holes in the vapor barrier, everywhere.  (There are rebar chairs available locally that clamp on the rebar and have about a 2" round disc that supports it on the ground. ) I then came in behind them, myself, and repaired all of the MANY holes in the vapor barrier with Duct tape.   On the day of the pour, I asked the crew to not step on the rebar, as it caused the rebar chairs to puncture holes in the vapor barrier.  They acknowledged my request and proceeded to step on every single piece of rebar they came across.  Not only pushing the rebar to the bottom of the slab, but also puncturing holes in the vapor barrier.  Awesome.  On the first test, my radon level was 200  times the EPA recommended level.  Now that's professionalism.  About 6 weeks later, it was time to pour the floor of my garage.  They were scheduled to pour on a Wednesday, and I traveled into town on Tuesday night to be present for the pour.  When I landed and turned on my phone, I got a voice mail saying they had to cancel and reschedule for Friday.   I was unable to stay for Friday as I had to be at work, 300 miles away.   The description I then got of the day of the pour came from my framing contractor.  He relayed that all of the concrete was delivered at once, for what is a 2,000 sq ft garage floor.  (4 car garage + a mud room).  Some of the concrete sat for a couple hours in a heap while they worked concrete in other areas of the garage.  When it was all done, I had large cracks and heaving fault lines in one stall and the mud room.  Absolutely horrible.     I was sucker enough to allow them back to complete my driveway and sidewalks a couple months later.  Fortunately for me they stood me up twice more and I never called them back.  I had another concrete contractor finish the job, who did excellent work.  That gave me even more remorse for not using them in the first place. Avoid Chamberlain Concrete and Jensen Concrete and Construction if at all possible.

We had the pleasure of working with Mike and his crew today. We reached out to him about a month ago for a patio and some sidewalk. He respond quickly and with a very competitive estimate. He was upfront about how far out he was with his schedule and showed up exactly within the timeframe he promised. Both he and his crew were friendly, polite, professional and hardworking. I love that he took our design ideas to heart and made some incredible suggestions that turned a simple concrete slab into a work of art. Not only did our patio turn out gorgeous but it will definitively be the focal point of our new backyard. The quality of his workmanship is top of the line. And to top it all off my yard was immaculate when they left. Looking forward to working with Mike and his crew again in the near future.

The entire job took one day and the results were what I expected with the exception of one or two finish stops that could have been better./

My home was built in 1996. The existing concrete step gradually pulled away from the house. Step was too small and a safety hazard. Additionally there is a window well directly under the front bay window in the sidewalk.  There was no way for anyone to escape through this window in an emergency. I found Carlson Concrete on Angie's list. Called Mike, he was prompt and courteous and gave us a reasonable bid. He removed existing concrete which allowed us to dig out the existing window well. We replaced rotted wood, painted,  and installed a larger well. Mike worked around our schedule, and returned to complete the concrete step and sidewalk once we were done. Mike provided suggestions to improve rain gutter system, and gave us the names of someone that could install railing. I am very happy with the results....looks Awesome!
