We pride ourselves not only on the width of services we provide, but also the depth of our designs and quality of our craftsmanship. Our Design Leads and Project Managers expertly and patiently guide all of our customers from start to finish, regardless of how simple or complex the project; we can even provide Permitting Services on any projects that require a permit. Our employees are held to standards that exemplify values that have allowed us to grow into a company you wouldn't hesitate to refer to your neighbor. Customers receive complimentary consultations on their project prior to sale, custom designed project drawings, up to $300 for any referrals, and a hassle free buying experience. We also have exclusive rights to a truly amazing solution for keeping the area underneath your second story deck dry. USI services the Seattle metropolitan area spanning as far North as Bellingham and as far South as Olympia. We can travel as far west as the Pacific coastline and as far east as the Cascade Mountains. These limits pertain to any of our products except Underdecking, which we will service and install in Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and California.

Business Description: General Contractor - Residential & Commercial - One call to us takes care of all your construction needs. Most of our business comes to us as repeat business and referrals from our happy customers. Much of our work is on recreational properties. Our owners trust us with their homes. They know we will do the job they want, with no supervision from them, within their budgetary guidelines, and that we will be finished on time. All of this is important because most of our owners have set times they visit their lakefront and recreational cabins.

Recent Review: We should have known at the beginning this job was going to stink bad and we were being taken for a ride. We were supposed to start at the end of July 2008, after the 20th due to a party we were having prior to the remodel. Kitchen Tune-up (KTU) called in late spring, asking if we wanted to start June 20-something. NO! After the 20th of July, or didn't he read his notes before he called? We demoed the kitchen from July 23rd to July 29th, as KTU was supposed to start on the 30th. Yep, they started as advertised, scraping the kitchen/dining room area on the first 2 days. After that, the project went downhill--like on a black diamond run at a ski hill, gaining speed, in search of a crash site in the trees preferably with a large rock at the end. (At least that's what it felt like by the end of the project 3 months later, as in Oct 25th.) The next thing that was supposed to happen was base cabinet installation according to the owner. The worker, however, installed the upper cabinets which was the sensible way to install them so the base cabinets weren't in the way. But, when they hung the uppers, they were CROOKED!!! Not square, not level, not even close. There were 3 or 4 holes drilled to find studs, meaning I had 3 or 4 holes in the back of my cabinets covered up with a dirty sticker for each hole! I guess they didn't own a stud finder? On workday 4, all work slowed, became spotty at best for the rest of the job and the workmanship deteriorated exponentially. What should have been a 3-week TOPS project was drawn out to 3 months. The final straw was finding out our cabinets were actually 3/4 inch shorter than the standard counter height of 36 inches which meant our freestanding flat-top stove that was supposed to slide in and be even with the countertops was now USELESS to us. The granite countertops were already set with a jumper bar that was supposed to bump up to the back of the flat cooktop framing it nicely, so our only choice was to get another slide-in stove that had a back on it instead. The jumper bar was removed after a herculean effort by the granite guy. Granted, KTU paid for half of the new stove but it was their own fault. It got so bad and stupid that the workers GLUED the lazy susan in place (what???) and even threw their joint compound wastewater into our bushes. When asked by the owner to pick up the chunks of compound in the bushes, the worker chucked them into the street instead. Anyhow, both workers were eventually fired then stole KTU's tools the same day, KTU lost our house key (they bought us a new lockset), more than half of the handles were installed crooked by those workers they fired, and several of our walls/ceilings/doorjambs were riddled with minor damage. The shame of it all was 6 out of 8 KTU "trust points" were broken by the 12th workday, yet the owner thought our job was going great. Not very perceptive, that one. After this experience, I tell everyone I know NOT TO HIRE KITCHEN TUNE-UP.
