Recent Review: Outstanding work.  Outstanding character.  Outstanding service. We've had our fair share of contractors over the years.  Some good, some bad;  and I tend to be quite h****** these folks.   But Tim Wolfswinkel at DeWitt Roofing surpassed even my very high expectations.   After gathering multiple quotes for a roof replacement, we hired Tim without hesitation.  His bid was reasonable and his reviews on Angie's List were superior .  So hiring him was an easy decision.  But what really surprised and pleased me was the level of his service, professionalism, friendliness and character.  Aside from the roof, he even repaired some trim problems we had on our porch and did very solid work on this as well.   I called one morning to ask him to come out and take a look at our roof.  He arrived a few hours later, spent a good deal of time looking over our roof and calculating the quote.   I appreciated that he didn't rush through the visit or try to 'upsell" us on features we really didn't want or need.  He was genuinely concerned that we get the right roof at the right price.  I've never met a contractor who was more concerned for the customer's satisfaction than his own financial gain.  But this is exactly how Tim handled himself throughout the quote, installation and follow up.  I like to know exactly what to expect and how the job was to be done, so I called Tim several times before the job was done on various questions.  He was always patient, very good at explaining his process and how the work would be done, and responsive to all my inquiries - both by phone and email. The crew showed up right on time, worked hard throughout the day.  The spent a lot of time cleaning up the yard and magnet-sweeping the entire property for nails and metal pieces, which was a big concern for our family.   About a week after the roof was completed, I heard some animal noises somewhere in the walls or roof.  It was hard to pinpoint the exact source, and I was concerned an animal had damaged the roof and gotten inside the walls.  I called Tim and explained my concern, and he came over that afternoon to inspect everything.  As it turned out, it seems it was just some birds playing or looking for food in the gutters, but we didn't know that at the time.  Tim had already gotten paid, was on his way home on this particular Friday night, yet still came over to ensure that everything was still okay with the roof.  He didn't have to do this - he'd already gotten paid.  But his concern for our concerns endeared him to us even more.  I proudly put my name alongside others who report glowing reviews on Tim and DeWit.   I am very happy that we chose Tim and DeWit.  And we will certainly call him again when we have additional work to do. Add us to the long list of satisfied clients who love Tim.

Recent Review: The new Addition came together beautifully. We were very happy with the high quality products used and the quality workmanship. We receive nothing but raves when others see the finished work. The addition started in the fall of 2012 with tearing off the old original porch.  Then they dug down for the footing and put a crawl space under the addition because of the plumbing for the bathroom. In the process of doing this plumbing they also added plumbing lines to the upstairs for a future bathroom up there.  Also in the process of doing the tear off and exposing the house they took precautions to keep the house protected from the weather.  Even though the project lasted overall around 8 months, they kept the main house protected and we were removed from the mess most of the time.  Even as the barriers came down because we were in the finishing stages, it was very manageable to live in the house all the time.  The over all design on the outside and the trim on the inside matched and complimented the  house design very well.    The addition ended up with a vaulted ceiling, with a very cool ceiling paint job that instead of stopping the ceiling paint line right at the corner of the wall and ceiling they brought the paint line down about 1/2" onto the wall. It might not sound like much but almost everybody notices that little detail and they go "WOW I really like how they did that" (that was a bonus they did they did without charging extra even though the process was more involved to do it) The bathroom ended up with a 4' walk in shower stool and vanity.  It was done with handicap features in mind for down the road if we need it.   Then we had hardwood flooring put down. Quite a few windows - Andersen Windows and custom made trim to match the origonal trim in the house. It was not an easy addition to do but now that it's done we use it all the time and we love it. If I had more money I would have them back to do my kitchen - that's next!

FAdvanced Remodeling Concepts, INC.
Gary was given a deposit to start the job and the remainder was due upon completion.  Total job cost was $1950.  This should have been a 2-3 week job.  He had employees come to start work that quit I assume because he couldn't afford to pay them.  He would go weeks without showing up.  After several months we had about 4-5 days worth of actual work done.  He would ask for money because it seemed he couldn't afford to finish the job or pay his employees.  He was given a $300 Home Depot gift card to buy materials.  He ended up using the card to buy materials for other jobs he couldn't afford to complete.  In the end, our job is at best 1/2 complete and he has received $1575 in payments as well as the $300 Home Depot card he stole.   The work he has completed includes - *hanging 4 sheets of drywall *tape and mud *texture walls and ceiling *prime walls and ceiling *spray finish coats on ceiling *he also has an interior window he replaced which is half done.   The list of items not completed as listed on his job proposal includes -  *finish paint on walls *stain-seal-install oak jam extensions on 6 windows *stain-seal-install oak casing on 6 windows & 2 doors *stain-seal-install oak baseboard trim in new addition and by french door going out to new addition *finish mudding above french doors inside and prime *build stairs going out to new addition Gary was very unreliable.  Very little of what he said ever happened.  His work is average at best for what little he did.

They kept in contact with me constantly.  They started the job in the winter, and we knew they wouldn't be able to work every day.  They would let me know when they could work, and when they couldn't.  They were courteous, clean and quiet.  They even came back to fix some screws that hadn't seated quite well enough, and replaced all the screws for the speakers and lights.

AMullin's Construction And Snow Removal
He came out for a free estimate. Looked at the window inside and out. He took measurements and then left saying he would work up an estimate and give me a call. He called the next day with the estimate of $250. Said he would have a local lumber co. come out and measure the window the next day just to verify the size. The lumber company ordered the window and two weeks later it came in and the contractor was immediatly back at the house. He came inside to work and sent another worker outside to help install. Outside worker put the window in and sealed the outside and the inside man did the same on the inside of the window. No cold air leaks were found around the window and I trimmed it in myself even though he offered to do it. I do want to say that I called four different contractors about this job and had to leave a message with each one, none of which called me back. Mullins construction answered the phone (cell phone number 319-931-0979) right away.

Our half bath was cramped, outdated, and ugly.  The pink sink wasn't bad, but the pink toilet was awful.  It had been a kitchen pantry before the previous owners remodeled the kitchen and bath.  An odd thing: they had moved the entry for the bathroom but left the old pantry door; it opened to the back of the drywall of the kitchen! Aaron ripped out everything but the floor and the "new" bathroom door (this was the really nice feature of the previous remodel. It is an old confessional door from a church).  He added some studs, put up insulation (there was none...brrr!), and drywalled the room (including the door to nowhere). The floor only covered about two-thirds of the space because the old cabinets and counter were built in.  Aaron did a great job adding more tile (and we had extra tile left by previous owners) to complete the floor.  He gave us the weekend to paint the empty room (although he would have painted if we wanted). Aaron came back Monday and did a superb job installing the vanity and toilet we had purchased, plus rehanging the original mirror/light.  He had also put up the stained trim he'd worked on over the weekend at home.  The trim now matches the confessional door.  The door had never latched for us and in a few minutes Aaron was able to move part of the frame over so it now works. We love the way the bathroom looks and spent the next week walking in there just to admire the changes. Aaron is a complete professional and a really good guy.  He was very careful and cleaned up after himself every day. We plan to have Aaron build a screened-in porch when the weather gets nice.

APremier Construction Services
In February 2013 we hired Premier Construction to undertake an extensive building project which included an addition to our house that doubled the existing square footage, a remodel of the existing space, and the construction of a detached garage. Also included in the project were a rear deck, a front covered deck, and a patio just off the newly constructed walk-out. Our building project with Adam and Premier Construction was definitely a collaborative effort and the design options Adam presented to us always reflected our wishes and preferences. As the project advanced, there were change orders at our request which Adam took in stride with his characteristic can-do cheerfulness. Adam never sees a problem that can't be fixed or a challenge that can't be met and he possesses a great aesthetic sense as well as an impressive amount of knowledge and experience in the construction business. The end result, which we are now enjoying, is a seamlessly executed addition which has all the features we most desired. The quality of workmanship in the addition surpasses that of the original dwelling, a credit to Adam and the first-rate team of employees and sub-contractors associated with Premier Construction.  We have no plans for further improvements...but...if we ever decide to build a party shed, we'll call Adam.

AThe Problem Solver : Timely & Simply Professional Solutions
UNBELIEVABLE!!! Their name says it all! My tenants trashed my condo & I had 6 days to fly to CA from the Midwest to get everything repaired/replaced.  Understanding my limited timeframe, "The Problem Solvers" agreed to meet me at the condo on a SUNDAY to assess the damage & give me an estimate. The quote was extremely fair & comprehensive & they started work the next day. The crew arrived right on schedule & began masking & prepping to paint & sand doors. They were extremely thorough & careful. They even assisted me in choosing a paint color. Their knowledge regarding what specific products to use was extraordinary. The workers were very professional & total gentlemen. It was a pleasure to have them working in the condo. They were above & beyond & were willing to do everything on my list within my timeframe. Some nights they stayed until 9:00pm to complete my side projects. Other companies I have used couldn't wait to leave when the clock struck 5:00. The work was completed within my timeframe because they were willing to work on the weekend! Thomas from "The Problem Solvers" came by on a regular basis to assess the progress. They were extremely organized & always had the materials they needed. Some days they would bring lumber for the deck boards, fence shelves, kitchen trim, & laundry room shelves. They stained them on the spot. There was no running out to buy materials.  Thomas & "The Problem Solvers" provided licensed individuals for plumbing & electrical issues. I have never worked with a company that could do it all! They truly solved my problems! I can't speak highly enough of their services!  I am so relieved that I have an awesome company to rely on when I have a problem with anything. I highly recommend "The Problem Solver Simply Professional Services."
