Recent Review: Very busy contractor but explains his timeline up front and if you give enough lead time the work product is worth the wait.  Pricing seemed a bit high, but for good work worth any extra spent.

Recent Review: The new driveway we had installed had created a two feet drop-off on the south side.  We only had about 18 inches to the lot line.  Chris (Marketing Rep, Horticulturist) advised us to install medium sized boulders that wouldn't take up too much space.  Project completed by two employees in five hours.  Looks great!  We will be doing other landscaping projects with this company in the spring.

Recent Review: Having just moved into a new home and with many other big projects on my plate, I elected to hire the replacement of an eroded timber retaining wall behind my garage. The old wall was full of holes and the dirt from above it had washed down between the wall and garage, even heaping up against the siding, causing mold problems inside the garage. The job I proposed was Frontline to: 1. Remove the old wall made of railroad ties 2. Re-grade so the dirt was place back above the wall and so water would wash away from the foundation 3. Replace the wall using new treated timbers 4. Place river rock around east and north sides of the garage (including between the new wall and garage) I checked Frontline's credentials on Better Business Bureau and saw one issue within the past year, which had been resolved, so I found them to be reputable enough to talk to. The owner, Joe Morton, came out and looked at the project. He showed up on-time and was very engaged, listening intently to my goals for the project. He also offered several options how the grading could be done to get water away from the garage, which I found quite impressive since I hadn't thought of his options myself. Based upon his professionalism and engagement, I chose to hire him though his pricing was a bit more than others I had spoken with. Once I selected him, I asked when it could be done and he had a backlog of several weeks, which I was fine with. This turned into a month or longer, during which I didn't hear from him so I followed-up again. He said a few weeks more, so I waited quietly until coming home one evening to happily see the wall installed. I looked closely at the job and noticed the grading issues were worse than before. They had not graded the existing soil between the garage and wall and had actually piled the soil up the side of my garage approximately 12-14", so far that it was heaped along the metal siding to guarantee future mold problems inside. I contacted Mr. Morton explaining the grading issue and he had a crew out the next day to dig a 6" trench along the garage the way I had it before (which was a stop-gap measure I had done before until I could get a professional to completely re-grade the area). I then expressed to Mr. Morton that I appreciated his effort, but I needed him to properly grade area between the wall and the garage as he had recommended and then re-set the wall on the new grade. His reply (weeks later) was that the area back there couldn't be graded to achieve what I wanted, so he agreed to take $170 off my bill. The result is that Mr. Morton didn't acknowledge they had made a mistake and refused to do the job as we had agreed. Though he suggests the area can't be graded to achieve what I wish, his views were very different when we discussed the job at the beginning in great depth. To close the issue and move on, I accepted $170 off the bill, which certainly isn't a pleasing outcome for me.  I'm disappointed that my options were ultimately narrowed down to   A) go to court and attempt to have Frontline meet the terms of the job   B) fix the issue myself.

Recent Review: They did a great job. We're very responsive to our questions. They did take out a small ornamental tree that we were trying to save because they said it wasn't healthy. We weren't 100% happy about that but they compensated us in a way that left us satisfied. The staff was professional. They're prices are a little high, but they showed and and did a nice job on the work.

Recent Review: I decided I needed to sod my front yard prior to putting my house on the market as I had too many places I had been patching for years and I wanted a lush look. They had to work it in around our extremely rainy spring weather, but they came early on one of our rare dry days, removed all the old grass and put in the new sod in one day. Then the clouds opened up again and I was able to take advantage of free watering for a couple of weeks. Matt gave me a very good price, even offered to work around the areas that were still growing well, though that would have made it more difficult for him. The lawn is beautiful and we have had many compliments on it from the neighbors. After I listed my house I realized I needed a load of river rock to finish a walkway project and to fill in some bare spots in the backyard, so I shot off an email to Matt Kaldenberg telling him I needed rock asap; here it was Friday, pictures of the house were to be taken Monday, I needed the weekend to spread it, and could he possibly get me the rock today? Within fifteen minutes his smiling driver was dumping $250 worth of rock in my driveway! Great service! Whenever I need advice (how much to water, how soon to mow, what fertilizer to use and when) I just send an email to Matt and he answers the same day.

Recent Review: Swieter's has done this work over the course of a couple years which makes it hard to put into a story.... I continue to use them which is as good a recommendation as one can give. Isaac is good about getting out quickly to give estimates, and get the work scheduled. Some of our projects have been one or two days and some of them have taken weeks, but we always plan the projects together so we both know what to expect. Isaac is very good about advising what items at the store are worth spending more for and what less expensive ones will do just fine so that is very helpful with planning larger projects. Over the course of the years and many projects, the few times I haven't been completely pleased with results, it has always been remedied satisfactorily.

Bill and his team did a nice job.  I was very grateful he worked hard to squeeze me in.  I made several calls to landscapers, some called back, a few showed up to give an estimate, and Bill was the only one who got back to me after knowing I only had a rinky d*** job (but a very big deal to me!).    He also had good ideas about drainage for my yard which I really appreciated.   I will call him in the future for other projects.

We made an appointment with them back in May and they were so busy that they said they wouldn't be able to get to us until Aug. 4th which we were in no hurry.  They called mid-July and had an opening for us so they could get to us sooner.  The crew did a wonderful job of digging out all of the old red mulch, laying down very thick 6 mil plastic and putting in 6-1/2 tons of 2" river rock.  The landscaping looks so great.  We were even given a discount because the original quote had more labor than the time that they spent on it so they gave us a discount of about $80 on labor!  Would HIGHLY recommend!!

Up-front discussion and meeting were helpful, communication between initial meeting and work was prompt, and the work was done quickly and cleanly.

Jon came out and gave us a bid. It seemed like a fair price for the amount of work we wanted done. He was a very good listener about what we were wanting done, and came up with some design ideas also. We have asked them to meet with us to pick out the color of river rock that we want to use to replace the lava rock, and also the type of pavers to use. Which they replied and said they would.

We knew we wanted landscaping and looked on Angie's List. I contacted 2 companies and decided to got with Solid Rock Landscaping. From the estimate to final invoice Chris and his team did a wonderful job. Chris provided a detailed estimate (including a CAD drawing of our home with the landscape design), months in advance he told us (within a week) when the start day would be, kicked off the job with his crew to confirm the scope of work and after all was finished he provided a detailed revised invoice. We asked for several changes before they arrived and Chris provided a revised estimate. We asked for several changes while they were at our home and it was no problem. Travis, Adam and Ferman were all courteous and hard working to deliver a great experience (and result) while at our home. Landscaping can get messy and they cleaned up after themselves every day. They arrived consistently between 8:30-9am and stayed at our home consistently until 5-7pm. The work was completed more quickly and less expensively than originally estimated even though we added to the scope of work. I found Chris to be same day responsive via email communication. In the future we will absolutely be using them and referring them to others.
