Recent Review: My wife and I needed to have aged and damaged shingles replace on our residence. This is the first house we have owned and the first major repair we had done. We contacted three different companies for estimates. We then drove around to view the job done at their references. Bates had the middle priced quote. One other quote was $100 more, the other was $100 less. The owner sent us to a specific supply company to select a color of shingle from a model of shingles he uses. The company delivered the shingles to our house on the specified morning and time. The installation crew was ready to go. They were dressed in clean, neat clothes and had a very respectful attitude. Not only did they install the shingles but, they put a drip guard around the edge of the roof to help avoid water damage to the wood underneath the shingles. They also painted the vent pipes on the roof to color coordinate with the house trim! These extra services were not mentioned when the quote was received. Once the installation was complete the roof and yard were cleaned up so that we couldn't tell anyone had been there. The owner personally supervised the work and talked with us to be sure we were satisfied with the work. He ran his business for many years using only word-of-mouth for advertising. That speaks well for the quality of his services. The shingles he used are stll holding up well 18 years later. I have seen other homes with shingles that need replace after about 5 years. In my opinion this is a top notch company and have absolutely no reservations recommending them.

Recent Review: They never replaced our gutter guard as they stated wouldn't be a problem. Mark McBride the regional service mgr. made all kinds of promises, none of which came true. When his people didn't show as promised he didn't know why, because he wasn't them. He became so rude on the phone I was in tears. The guards have never been replaced.

Recent Review: Despite intermittent rain, the crew got the job done well. All the workmen were friendly and respectful and I heard no foul language from anyone. Wilson's price was one half that of the first estimate I obtained and they went only slightly over their time estimate due to the rain delays. I would certainly hire them for other work.

Recent Review: Salesman came, gave estimate and sales pitch.  He talked too much, a little pushy, but gave good information. Roofers did an excellent job, very professional, explained what they were doing in detail, cleaned up very well. Different contractor did the gutters and did a good professional job. We were happy with the work and would use them again for future jobs.  Price compared similar to our other bids.

Recent Review: They were very prompt and informative in providing the estimate and responding to follow up questions. While the job was then delayed because of weather, they kept us informed. Both the work crew and the overall work were excellent. My only complaint is that it was difficult to contact responsible people during and after the job to check up on issues as they developed as there was not a foreman on site and they did not return calls.

Recent Review: Durham Remodeling and Repair came highly recommended so we did not seek additional bids. The workers arrived when they said they would be there and immediately went to work. They would tell us if they were not going to be there the next day because of weather; they were better predictors of the weather than the weatherman. All nails, roofing remnants, trash etc. were picked up at the end of each day. We were informed of the condition of the roof as the shingles were removed and they determined what caused the roof to leak into the house. They worked long hours and finished the job within 3 to 4 days, finishing on a Saturday. When the workers quit for the day the roof was never left open to the elements, would only tear off and reshingle one section at a time. We also asked them to look at the footings for the 4 season porch because of heaving in the winter months that cracked the plaster inside and caused the windows to shift. Initially it was determined to correct the 3 main footings for the 4 season room and determined after starting the job that the deck footings also needed to be repaired. All of the digging was done by hand so there was no damage to the yard by heavy machinery. All of the landscaping around the area was put back in the same location when they were finished. During this portion of the work we offered the workers use of a wheelbarrow. The wheelbarrow was damaged during the completion of the job and replacement cost was automatically reimbursed on the final invoice. Again, all trash and work items, including the destroyed wheelbarrow, were removed from the site upon completion. Very satisfied with the work, would hire them again.

Bruce Jansen quoted next day and scheduled it in three weeks later. Crew was experienced, punctual, did quality work and cleaned up fine. Used Owens-Cornings shingles. They gave me a choice of higher priced shingles. All in all, a great job.

Representative was timely and professional. Estimate was significantly higher than competition ($7500 vs $4500), therefore I did not use them to complete the work.

I used an alternate roofing company that also quoted a high quality job but at a 15% lower price.

During the quote phase I met with several contractors. Out of everyone the price was a bit higher but the character and quality was worth the slightly higher price. The project took longer to begin than expected but that was due to weather which I was fine with.  Once work began it took only a few working days to complete the job.
