Recent Review: They were going to charge me $52,000 and then they found a $7,000 or $8,000 error in one of their bills. They took the price of the countertop and labor off the bill. I had already paid them $29,000 and the last $20,000 was over and above what they said it would be. It was supposed to include all the labor. They subbed out the hardwood floor installation and I had to pay for that. We got the bill down to about $13,000 and I had it inspected. There were a number of defects. Largely the only thing that he was willing to do was complete the work that he had already billed me for but hadn't done. There are multiple problems. The roof they put on leaks. They didn't put a ridge board on part of the porch so it is sagging. They installed the front door 2 or 3 times and you can still see daylight around it. When they were hanging the cabinets they didn't plumb the wall first. In order to keep the line at the top of the cabinets level with the cabinets coming from the other wall, they had to gap them at the bottom. They covered a couple of electrical outlets with cabinets. It was a real bad job. It was very expensive and low quality work. I am getting ready to have somebody come in and correct all the mistakes. I gave them $29,000 and they filed a mechanic's lien for $13,000 but they never took it to court.

Initially,I was going to have John install a 2nd electrical box and install a 240 hookup for a basement oven. This represented about 1/2 of the work. However, we decided to reduce the job in order to save money. Thus, my downpayment became more than enough for the entire job. However, John had the nerve to continue asking me for more money. He also asked me to pay him $300 for a city inspection. I called the city to inquire and they told me my permit fees include the inspection for a total of $20. This caught my attention. I checked around and have heard from others that John ripped them off and still owes them more than $750. Luckily after calling John more than 50 times (I counted) and telling on him to his father (Jack) he finally finished the job. His work appears to be good quality, but he does not have a professional bone in his body. Do not hire this man child!
