ALewis Reed Flooring
Lewis Reed is an independent flooring contractor. We hired him to repair some improperly installed laminate flooring after he was recommended by someone at Menard's. He was very knowledgeable and did an excellent job. He could have gouged us given our situation, but he didn't. His price to fix the mess was very fair and reasonable. He also showed up when he said he would. We would definitely use him for flooring work in the future.

ALewis Reed Flooring
I found Lewis Reed Flooring on Angie's list when the contractor I had hired to replace my kitchen flooring fell through. I called on a Monday and Mr. Reed said they would be able to get to my floor by the following Saturday, possibly Friday. He contacted me on Wednesday evening and said they would be able to come do the work on Friday around 9:00 a.m. They arrived promptly on Friday, consulted with us on how we wanted the flooring to be laid (it is laminate that looks like Travertine tile). We had not thought about how we wanted it to look and after he arranged a few tiles to show us how it could be put down, we chose a design and the work started. The job took a few hours to complete but they worked the entire time. We almost didn't have enough tile to finish the job, due to some of it being mis-sized in the box but they worked with what we had and got the job done. My floor looks amazing!!! I am so happy with the way it looks. Lewis Reed Flooring was reasonably priced, prompt, they cleaned up the whole mess that is always made when you do construction of some kind. They are definitely experts in flooring installation. I recommend them highly and will most definitely use thier services again when I need any kind of flooring installed!!!!!

My husband called them. They came out to give us an estimate. We were told that they wouldn't have to replace the entire floor, that the could match the existing flooring. Seemed nice, professional. We had used them before for a roof replacement. So we emptied the room, moved furniture for them. But what should have been a 2-3 day job lasted for over 3 weeks. The first day they came and ripped up a small section of the floor, replaced a small part of the subfloor and took out the door and put plywood up. They weren't even here for 4 hours. They didn't come back for 2 days. The next time they were here they put the door in. Again, not even here for 3 hours. It took multiple days for them to come back. We called them at least 5 times, and sent many text messages before we got any reply. They finally came back to replace the flooring. Then they called my husband and told us that they couldn't match the existing floor and would have to replace the whole floor. Of course it would be more money. Again they left, came back a couple days later to tear up the rest of the flooring. It was at least a week before they came back to put the new floor down. Now the trim around the floor is coming off. The glue they used to adhere it to the wall isn't what should have been used. They came out and looked at it. Said they would have to screw it in and then they left without finishing it. This has been another 2 week process. We have been told that someone would be out to fix it 3 times and no one has showed up. This has been common throughout the entire job. They are suppose to come out tomorrow to fix it. We will see.

Laminate Flooring purchased from GCO and installed in lower level family room by one of thier recommended installers. It is buckling at joined seams. Looks very bad in some places and is getting slowly worse. Floor was supposed to be warranteed for 10 years. Reported problems to GCO in May 2012. The person I spoke with at that time said he would file a claim and someone would contact me about coming out to assess the problem. Heard nothing more for a couple months and in July I called back. At this time I spoke with the president of GCO (per his card) who said there was no record of my previous call but that he would send someone out within the week. He called back a couple weeks later to say he had called someone who would inspect the floor but had not recieved a call back yet, but would keep trying. He continued to call me back several more times telling me he was still working on it. Finally, at the end of August he and another man came out and took photos of the damage. I was told a couple weeks ago that the photos were sent to the manufacturer of the floor and they said it was due to water damage and they will not honor the warrantee. I explained that we have never had water in the lower level of our house and because these spots are all over the floor, the entire room would have had to be flooded. He than implied that perhaps my two very small dogs had caused the damage. Both of these explainations are rediculous and when I said so, he implied I might not be telling the truth. Needless to say, my dogs are housebroken, and our lower level is dry and the sump pump works beautifully. Water did not cause this buckling. He told me he would try to get an "independent" inspector to come out and assess the damage and report to the company, since the company would not send an inspector. Today, he called me back once again to tell me an inspector would cost 300.00 and he would pay half but that I had to pay the other half. I told him I was not interested, that we would have to replace the floor and we certainly would not be using GCO or "Shaw" ("Shaw" is the company they tell me is the manufacturer, although my paperwork says "Casabella".) It is obvious to me that the manufacturer does not honor their warrantee and that GCO does not stand behind the warrantees of the products they sell.

AHawk-I home improvement
Excellent. Everything was explained to us while allowing us to ask questions without being made to feel like we were being a problem. The workmanship was amazing. After more than two years we have yet to find any problems with the work performed. We are also very pleased with how professional they are, and I loved the way they cleaned up EVERYTHING. We have had other people in our home doing work and I always had to do the cleanup. We will ask this business to do all of our home improvement jobs from now on.

BLOWE'S INSTALLATION SERVICES
The installation itself was fine. The two guys (one for carpet and one for laminate) did a fine job. What was very upsetting was the timing. We chose a carpet they had in stock since Lowe's had a guarantee on 72 hour installation on all carpet in stock. The carpet was ready right away but the person they chose to install it was a very busy man. He finally contacted us 48 plus hours later and that was only because I contacted Lowes and asked them why we haven't been contacted yet. He was so booked he couldn't get to us for awhile and then the Laminate guy wanted to wait until the carpet guy was done - to make his job easier. So, something we thought would all take at most a week took three weeks. Very disappointing since we are trying to sell our house and wanted to put it on the market as soon as possible but had to wait for the flooring to be done.

Installed flooring in an entry way. It was click-lock hardwood installed over an existing ceramic tile floor. The floor was installed in the timeframe that was promised and the quality of work was excellent.

ACARTER FINISH CARPENTRY
He was very professional and did a great job installing the floors. He worked with my wife and I to help us understand the best way to take care of the floors, and make sure they looked exactly as we wanted them to. We purchased the floors from a local store with his help, and have loved them. He has done other work for us as well, installing a water heater and blowing insulation into our attic. He has always done a fantastic job!

AJay Lundberg Tile
The initial install was great. They did some very nice artistic tiling as well as standard on shower walls and bathroom flooring. After a problem with the flooring of the shower, they were quick to repair and persistent in finding a solution. We suspect it was a manufacturer/design problem and Jay and his team were right there to fix it and didn't involve us in any issues they may have had in the background. A super, super, professional job. We wouldn't hire anyone else to do future tile flooring.
Recent Review: Beautiful product, good prices. Only issue was a delay in shipping of several weeks due to inventory. This delay caused issues with scheduling on a whole-house renovation and it would have been quite useful to know about upfront, rather than having to call them repeatedly for updates. When the flooring finally arrived, weeks late, it was beautiful and in very good shape. I would use them again, but I would order much earlier than needed to allow for any delays.

Recent Review: re unexpected scraping.Joe came out the same day I called him to give an estimate. The job was to be done in 2 phases. The first week, the south side of the building ,the second week the north side. I was responsible for the moving of the furniture, and the replacing of the the furniture.Any repairs to the floors were to be added to the estimate, since some of the floors were glue down carpet. The contracted had a begin date and an end date. The first day (Wed.) he was scheduled to start, they did not arrive until after noon. They stayed less than 2 hours to remove carpet. The carpet was glued down, I was notified scraping would be an extra, which I agreed to. Thursday and Friday his employee did not come to work. very little scraping was done.Work proceeded at a very slow pace. The first phase was supposed to be completed in one week. It was 10 days before we could move the furniture back and clear the other half of the apartment. The second phase went slower than the first. No one showed up to work, more unexpected scraping. It was finally done 3 weeks after started.I know part of the delay was because of the extra scraping, and some of the repairs, and the fact it was a hundred and twenty years old. Most of the delay was caused by nobody showing up to work, or when they were there they stayed a couple of hours and left. I know when the coating was being done, they would be in and out between coats for drying. Over all the finished product is good. I would have been alot happier if it was completed on time. I would use Joe again, but I would have a penalty inserted in the contract if he did not complete the job by the time he indicated in his contract.
Recent Review: It went pretty well, right up to the time that we found scratches from other contractors. We are still trying to sort that out, but Gray's came back and replaced the scratched floor, and cut us a good deal on the labor. We are still negotiating with the other contractors on the replacement pieces. Gray's is responsive and professional. I wish they worked during the week, too!
