Recent Review: Had all materials ready for them, they worked quickly with a high attention to detail. They asked several questions to make sure they got it right. Gave us several tips on small ways to improve our home. Very happy with the way things turned out!

Recent Review: Our final project completed was very pleasing.  There were a few minor details that we pointed out about 3/4 of the way through the process...like "it needs a touch up of paint here," or something fixed here.  After we saw the end result and how everything looked, we realized we probably didn't need to point out any minor flaws we saw b/c Bob would have caught them himself.  I think Bob wanted it to look good enough for it to be his own house.

Recent Review: We were more than satisfied with Better Home Remodelers.  They were very organized, prompt and professional.  From the start, every part of the plan was clearly written out and reviewed by us before any orders were placed.  All warranties and policies were thoroughly discussed ahead of time.  The product orders were made in a timely fashion.  Orders were complete and accurate, meaning work could stay on schedule and there was little waste (extra materials).  If plan-changes were needed (i.e., more rot was discovered when removing old windows/siding, requiring more time and supplies), they always asked for permission before going ahead.  Care was taken to keep our family safe and our home clean, both inside and outside.  Drop cloths and plastic curtains were used to cover the workspace inside; debris was cleaned and hauled away in a timely manner.  They were very respectful of our time and space, both in and out of the work zone.  The company is small, which means it is very personal.  This encouraged good communication day to day, as work progressed.  When we have needed small tweaks made here and there (a stuck window; a window that won?t lock), service has been prompt and problems remedied, hassle-free.  So, not only were we satisfied at the time of installation; we have been well cared for since, concerning any issues that have surfaced.      Workmanship was above and beyond.  The stone work is beautiful.  As work was done in the winter, thought was given to appropriate temperature requirements for the various materials.  Likewise, each layer was done in a specific order to provide the best possible coverage for our home (windows first, then siding, etc.).  The cladding done by hand is immaculate.  Some days, only a few things were completed, but it was because of all the attention to detail.  Windows, for example, can be especially tricky.  Even the best windows may not live up to their energy-efficient potential if they are installed incorrectly.  We are confident with the careful installation process.  Regarding the siding/stone work/front over-hang, a neighbor?s contractor actually walked across the street to examine the work.  His trained eye knew quality, affirming our satisfaction.  Better Home Remodelers truly does ?do it once, do it right?, and continue to perfect the work until it reaches that high standard.

The experience started out great. The company came in a few days and provided an estimate. The initial estimate included replacing a front door as well for around $9000. That was above my budget, so I removed the front door from the project. While the pricewas $1800 higher than another estimate for the same work, I chose Done-Done. The workers arrived with a truck and trailer full of wood/supplies. This was following a day it rained. They turned around in my wet, landscaped yard leaving four 9 inch x 9 inch x 15 ft ruts. The estimate included 50 hours which I was told would take a week. Seemed reasonable. When the job was completed in about 30 hrs, we were happy. I pointed out to the owner (Pat) that they had finished ahead of schedule/underbudget, hIs attitude changed. He stated gruffly, "a quote is a quote.". I told him I know this and planned on paying. I just wanted him to know i knew this. The reason i wanted him to know this is because when the workers were removed the old deck, they made a comment to me that they were told by Pat to bring the wood to him for possible use on another project. The quote included dump fees. Ths was a concern. I also pointed this out to Pat and he again stated " a quote is a quote and I can do what i want with the wood.". This was upsetting. I then pointed out that I felt charging someone for things that would not be done, was inappropriate. This really upset him. I then pointed out the discount he obtained for the supplies that he charged me for as well. He stated he paid "exactly" the same as i would have paid. This was not true per Menards. Pat later stated he marks these supplies up by 20%. He then stated the quote was for $50/hr/worker and not $50/hr. The workers did a great job, but did not clean the porch and 4 posts were crooked. I corrected this on my own. I pointed it put and received no reply. I fixed the yard at my exPense.
