Altoona Above Ground Pool Installation

I paid them in March to open the pool. Before it could be opened we noticed we needed a liner. The pool guys were hired to replace the swimming pool liner for an in ground pool.  They provided me with only one vendor from which to select my liner with only approximately 25 liners to choose from. I was given an estimate and put down a 2/3 deposit. After two weeks of not hearing from anyone I called to find out what was the delay on three day liner.  I was informed that there was a walk out at his selected liner supplier and needed to take additional measurements and get the liner from the liner companies sister site. A month later the liner was put in. I was told it took two days to complete ~12hrs. It took 12hrs over the course of a week and a half. The ordeal with scheduling the liner install was a nightmare. Given information that the install was weather and temp dependent time allowance was given.  The issue was that they didn't show up when they said they would at the time they said they would.  I had to constantly chase them down to get an update.  I had to deal with a swamp pond of mosquitoes until they threw some chemicals in.  They left mess after mess for us to clean up after. They rushed through it, did not vacuum as stated after install, and half way put chemicals in and did not verify that it was balanced. Then they wanted to increase the balance due even after they had the initial opening fee. Long story short DO NOT Hire. Not professional, no business acumen or customer service focuses at all.

Orlando called promptly on the initially scheduled day of my closing to let me know that because of the rain, his earlier job with concrete work was taking longer than expected and he wanted to postpone my closing to the next afternoon. The next day, Orlando and another gentlemen showed up as promised and immediately went to work on my pool. They drained and blew out the plumbing and equipment, filled with antifreeze, installed plugs, treated the pool water, and installed the winter cover. They worked furiously and were finished in 75 minutes. He charged time and materials, which ended up being significantly less expensive than the itemized quote I had from another company. This was my first year owning a pool and Orlando took the time to answer my questions, explain what they were doing, and point out things that could help me extend the life of my equipment. All without trying to sell me additional products or services. Even with my relative inexperience, I had learned a lot from the internet and knowledgeable personal aquaintances over the summer, and it was clear that Orlando knows his stuff. And he's personable and friendly to boot.

This is our first season with an outdoor pool. We moved into the house in the fall and only had time to winterize the pool without knowing how it would look this spring. Upon reopening the pool for the summer we were having issues balancing chemicals and getting the water clear. We contacted Tidy Pool and initially had some issues coordinating with them. It turns out that is due to their workload and the fact that this is a typical small business with only a couple of employees. Once we were able to coordinate an appointment they came out to look at the pool, diagnose the issues (our filter sand needed replaced- 300 lbs of sand- and some gauges and seals needed replacement too), then returned two days later and completed the work in about 90 minutes. The filter is already running better and for the type of work that needed done I would say the cost was more than fair. The guys are also very courteous and left us with solid advice for keeping the pool maintained. I would highly recommend these guys to do pool repair/maintenance work. Keep in mind they are likely very busy during the summer and fall, so if you cannot connect with them right away keep trying. All in all we were able to get them out to us within a week of our first call to them. I would rather work with someone that busy who is doing a good job than have a lower quality job done a couple of days sooner.

The liner replacement was a bit of a debacle. Somehow a worker mis-measured and the first liner was the wrong size. It was reordered at no cost to us and was installed in mid June. Then the rains came and groundwater came up through the bottom before installation was complete, and there was some question who would pay to fix the wrinkles but we got it resolved satisfactorily.

Dave and his highly skilled team transformed our pool into a showplace.  They go above and beyond without nickel and diming you...I'm surprised at the other rating as we've found them to be highly responsive.
