Kays Painting & Home Maintenance
Recent Review: Mr. Kay responded promptly for a request of an estimate. His estimate was fair and below the cost of other estimates. He showed up on time on the day to do work and completed the job ahead of schedule (less than 1 day). He was very professional and courteous and even provided an additional service I did not request, but he recognized as being needed. After replacing the rotted wood, he realigned my storm door to properly fit in the door frame. He made sure I was happy with his work before he asked for payment. I would highly recommended his services.

Mike Stake at Concierge Home Services
Recent Review: I was completely blown away first by Mike's prompt arrival to cost out the job. He was on time, asked questions to make sure he understood the scope of the work to be performed. I am a novice when it comes to certain aspects of remodeling/renovation but Mike explained everything, offered his opinion and suggested way to reduce costs on some items. Once I had the estimate in hand a timeline was out together and agreed upon. With the exception of one day due to rain, everything started and ended on time. Mike and his equally professional assistant (Anthony) cleaned the premises after each job, leaving things neat and tidy. Mike is the ultimate professional and takes pride in doing a great job and wanting to make sure the finished work meets the client expectations. I have a small rental property that has been undergoing renovations for over 4 years. The original contractor does great work, problem is he is very slow, does not show up when he says, thus I am losing revenue. I only wish I knew about Mike 4 years ago! He has finished several small jobs the other contractor did not finish. I am already planning my next set of projects and will be calling Mike over the next weeks/months to begin phase two. Anyone looking for an AWESOME ' can do anything" professional, Mike is your go to person. You will not disappointed. I found the cost to be very reasonable . You get what you pay for and if you take pride in your home and want it to be a place of comfort and beauty, I urge you to give Mike a call.       This is my first experience with Angie's list and am thrilled at the results.

Window World of CSRA
Recent Review: This is the reason I subscribe to Angie's List, to find quality companies like Window World. The company has been around for many years, and the local franchise has installation techs that have been on-board for years.  To me, that's a sign the company is good to work for.  Starting with the first contact, the rep brought over samples of window glaze with a heat lamp & Crookes radiometer and vinyl siding for demonstrations. There were no high-pressure sales tactics by Mark our rep; only a recommendation for the products that would be right for the house, and not what was most expensive.  After that initial contact, my wife and I took a couple weeks to decide and gather other estimates. It was no contest. When it came to estimates and tax considerations, and quality of work, Window World has them beat.  The removal and installation phase was methodical and thorough. Attention was paid to detail with verbal progress reports periodically.  Any questions I had were answered.  I was told the installers, Tyler and Truit (sp?) have worked together as a team for the company for years. They handled every aspect of the contract with very good results. They cleaning up daily, and covered unfinished areas if it looked like rain was coming. Which brings me to one of two suggestions when it comes to having work like this done...  We held off having the work done until the fall because of seasonal plants around the house and because of pre-existing termite damage that had to be dealt with. However, the termite damage repair (by Borden Pest Control) went on far too long, and not done correctly as the Window World installers discovered and amended. The consequence was having work start when it was too cold, (especially in the mornings) to work with vinyl siding materials.  Tyler managed his time well by doing other things like metal fabrication in the freezing weather, but there was only so much that could be done until the temps got warmer.  To add to the freezing weather issues, there were many consecutive days of hard rain. He apologized often and said a job like this would normally take a fraction of the time, but there really wasn't anything that could be done about the weather. Botton line: Look forward a couple weeks to see how the weather is going to be. The other suggestion is, if you can afford it, to have all the work, (siding, windows, doors, etc) performed on one contract. There is a preferred, logical, order of work to make things easier on the installers. There was a package discount as well.  Overall quality:  I expected the outcome to be good, (given what we had on our residence already), but the result was far better than I imagined.  We haven't had a warranty work request yet, but if or when that time comes, it shouldn't be an issue. It appears they are prompt at answering warranty calls in reading other posts.  I will update this post to reflect any warranty work. Price: Initially, there was some sticker shock in all the estimates I received from different companies. But a little research showed this was a good price. There were no cost adjustments on my part, in the work outlined on the estimate and contract. Case-in-point: Grovetown unexpectedly, and considerably, raised their permit fees. Window World assumed that added cost. Lastly. if there was any question on building materials specified, Window World gave me the benefit of the doubt.  They did have very low interest financing available, but if you can swing it, use a points-based Amex and pay it off at the end of the month for added bonus. Payment was made with 50% up front, and 50% upon completion and inspection.  Afterthought: The rep and installers gave suggestions when asked, for color and material styling to make a home look updated. This was very helpful. Update (April 2015):  All windows, doors, and siding working as they should. Still very happy with the quality of work.

ATotal Home Care
Markus was professional and thorough in his work. I first met him when I asked for a price quote to wall mount a TV above a fireplace. We ended up not doing that project, but I thought Markus was straightforward and honest. He also didn't try to pressure us into hiring him or going through with the project. A couple months later, I called him back about installing a screen door, a storm door, and gutter screens. He was very responsive and quickly came out to give us a quote. He listened to us anytime we had questions about something or wanted to make some changes. I thought his price was a little high, but I found it reasonable after getting other price quotes. Markus is very knowledgeable, and he provided us with some great tips on different things for our new home. Our home warranty was getting close to expiring, so he pointed out some things around our house to address with the builder before the warranty ran out. I would definitely use Markus again in the future. He is the owner of this business, so I can tell he takes pride in his work and really wants to make his customers happy.

Marcus gave me a fair estimate. He and his crew arrived on time and worked until the job was completed, which was 2 days and cleaned up after themselves. He did a walk through explaining everything he had done and was sure I was satisfied. Marcus is a professional and the work he does is a professional job. I have since hired him to paint the inside of my house and lay ceramic tile in the hall and den. Great Jobs.

I called several companies to do some work around my home, especially reattaching the gutter after a storm.  I was repeatedly told that the job was too small for them to come out.  I could not find a person who could fix the gutter and other minor jobs that I could not handle myself.  When Kay's called me back I was so excited!  (Other companies did not return my call or said the job was too small.)Fortunately, Bill Kay was doing another job in the Evans area and he could come to my house and do the "easy" repairs after he finished his other job. He said normally they don't come all the way out to Evans from North Augusta unless it is a big job. I was very grateful for the help. When a storm came through our area, my gutter came away from the roof and had been leaking anyway, so I needed someone to reattach it.  Some gutter companies wanted to replace the whole gutter at the back of the house and "do it properly" for a couple of thousand dollars. Other than that, the job was too small for them.  Other handymen I called said they don't do gutters or masonry work.  Bill got up by the gutter and found the gutter was not installed correctly with enough gutter clips to hold the gutter secure.  He was able to fix my gutters so they don't drip in front of my door. My storm door was deteriorating near the hinge, and my handle and latch plate were too far apart to latch securely.  Bill and his assistant repaired the door and moved the door handle out so it would latch correctly, and patched the holes from the handle. (Note to consumers:  do not use wood core storm doors.  The wood is particle board and falls apart within a year!)  The cement between the bricks on my front porch was deteriorating and needed to be patched.  Bill and his assistant did such a wonderful job that my husband couldn't tell where the repair was made!   Bill Kay and his assistant were wonderful, professional, and did a fantastic job in a very timely manner.  I would definitely call him again for any handyman and painting needs. Thank you Bill!
