I called this builder and got his voicemail. After several days, Russell left me a message. After playing phone tag several times, I talked with him on the phone. He was very busy and asked could he call back the following week. I agreed and then waited several weeks before calling him back. His excuse was that he ruined his phone, which had all his email and contact information stored on it. He agreed to come do an estimate on Friday, October 16. He did not show up nor call that day. On Saturday, October 17, he called my husband and apologized, saying he just got too busy. He showed up and began making all kinds of suggestions: a pocket door, a poured shower basin, etc. Then we showed him the back steps where we wanted a simple hand rail installed. He then began a long spiel about how he could install a wheelchair ramp and that he had just the right one at his house he could use there. This man talked ad nauseum about the ramp, which we really had little interest in. He could not give us an estimate that day but said he would get back in contact with us. Today is October 23 and we have yet to hear from him. As far as we are concerned, he has lost our business. I can only foresee a nightmare remodeling project with someone who is so unprofessional at the onset. We have hired another contractor and the whole first-time meeting and estimate process was painless and stress free, which we needed after meeting with this contractor.
