Recent Review: The tech was knowledgeable, and professional. The tech answered all my questions and made several recommendations to help reduce the amount of dust being produced which I have implemented. .They are not inexpensive but they are worth the cost. My A/C system cools better and my wife doesn't have to dust as often.
The company called a day before to discuss the effects of weather on their ability to do the job, because it was supposed to rain. I hadn't considered the weather so it was nice to get the call. It didn't rain and they were able to come out and explained everything beforehand and afterwards. They were professional and clean. The price was as discussed before the job.

AMr Central Air Conditioning Heating & Solar
Our heating and a/c system was almost 40 years old and had been repaired to the point where the technicians said it was no longer worth trying to fix it. I called a building contractor who had an excellent reputation in this area and asked him for a recommendation: "Who would you call to put in a heating and a/c system in your own home?" I then decided to call five companies for an estimate, including the company the home-builder suggested...Central Heating and Air Conditioning. The estimates from the various companies ranged from approximately $3500 to $8000, depending on the type of system, duct work, etc. Although the estimate from Central was not the least expensive, we were impressed by everyone we contacted in that company, from the receptionist/dispatcher to the sales rep to the service technicians. All of them were very professional and courteous; the sales rep (Mr.Steven Boatwright) was very thorough in examining our old system and showing us how a new system could save us money; not just because of better efficiency, but by re-doing some of the old ductwork where we were losing heat and air because of leaks and lose or missing insulation. He took a lot of notes and several photos. He then explained some of the rebates that were available for high energy-efficient systems. His estimate came in somewhere in the mid- $7000 range, but after applying the discounts the total cost came to around $6400. He did not try to sell us their most expensive system, but instead tried to make sure that he recommended the system that would best suit our needs and budget. One major factor that made us decide on Central was the fact that all of the other companies stated that they would have to make major modifications to the way the system was installed (which would increase the cost). Central H&A was able to custom-design a system that would eliminate that problem. When the installers arrived, they removed the old system including much of the old insulation and some of the ductwork. When they had to come inside the house they wore paper shoe protectors to keep dirt and other debris off the floor and carpet. The technicians discovered that the new thermostat was defective right out of the box, so they gave us a new upgraded thermostat at no extra charge. After the installation was complete they did an excellent job of cleaning up; when they left, our furnace room was cleaner than it was when they arrived! Within a couple of days a supervisor contacted us to make sure we were happy with the system and to see if we had any questions. We are very happy with not only the system, but with each employee we came into contact with. The job was done on time and as scheduled. We would definitely recommend Central Heating and AirConditining service (also known as "Mr. Central") to anyone. Sincerely, John Eubanks and Pamela Skiles

They cleaned out my air ducts and said that there was additional work that needed to be done including fixing a bent-up pipe. They supposedly did everything they said they would, but a few weeks later we had an exterminator come out and he said that the work was not done at all. We called Busby's back and the boss came out and confirmed that they did not do the job they were supposed to do and fixed it himself, but after that experience, we just don't trust them anymore.

FA AFFORDABLE SERVICE
Poorly. On October 24, 5 men arrived to clean out air ducts. During this procedure, Mr. Whitt convinced me to clean the dryer vent from the outside for an additional $25. I agreed. (Now the metal vent is bent.) Also, we discussed their placing a moisture barrier in the crawl space. This was quoted as $275. I agreed. They said they had the items necessary to accomplish this on their truck. After they started, Mr. Whitt said they needed to go to Home Depot to pick-up additional plastic barrier (4 mil) BUT he didn't have any money and could I give him $36. I gave him two twenties and when he returned I requested a receipt, which he could not produce. I asked them why they didn't anchor down the barrier. (They should have.) I have repeatedly asked for an itemized bill: what chemicals they used; how many vents; what mil barrier they used; AND the mold/mildew odor returned within two weeks of their treatment.

ASig Cox Heating & Air Conditioning
We had 24-year-old system that could run all day on 90+ degree days and never get the house below about 82 degrees. We were seeing power bills upwards of $800 a month. The company that had been working on the system offered to replace the blower/compressor for about $1200 but we knew that would just get us back to a system that didn't get the job done, so we called Sig Cox. John Haynie came out personally and gave us an honest appraisal of the situation and approximate cost. He then got his project manager to come onsite for a more thorough and technical walk-thru. Between the two of them they came up with a plan which they explained to me very well. Once we agreed, they came up with a date and timeframe for the work. They sent over two very professional guys to perform the work on the date/time specified. The price I paid was the same as the one originally quoted, with no hidden fees or other "gotchas". There were a lot of obstacles to overcome in this job but that never fazed these guys. They kept me up to date on what they were doing and how long they expected it to to take every step of the way. They took pains to minimize impact on the household, and, best of all, even though the job took slightly longer than expected, they finished just in time for the first 80+ degree days of spring! This was a very experienced team from top to bottom and they put together a system that is fitting my family's needs. We have seen a substantial decrease in our power bill while our house stays at the desired temperature without having to run the AC all day.

AQuality Air Heating & Air Conditioning
My wife and I recently purchased a home built in the 80's with the original HVAC unit. After several estimates from HVAC companies, we chose a guy named Mike with Quality Heat and Air. When he came out for the estimate, he was upfront about the issues we faced, spoke in a language we could understand, and even said he could save us money by reusing perfectly good registers in the ceiling that other companies said needed to be replaced. Not only was his estimate the most reasonable, but no other company offered us options based on the efficiency of the units. Throughout the installation, he and his men were prompt, extremely friendly, and even more efficient than the unit they installed. Once the work was completed, Mike sat down with us and explained everything they did. He and his crew replaced the entire unit along with new ductwork, and they left our attic cleaner than they found it. Because I worked in construction for ten years, I've seen HVAC companies leave old compressors, rusty drain pans, tape, PVC, and even their lunch wherever they were working. In a world where it's getting harder to depend on contractors to do what they say they'll do, it's refreshing to know there are still some quality professionals you can trust. Choose Mike with Quality Heat and Air, and I promise you won't regret it.

The company has many large and enticing ads. I wanted to be sure there was no mold spreading in my new home and thought it was a good idea to have the whole system cleaned. The ad said $8 a vent so I expected to pay $80 to have my system cleaned. This is just a foot in the door tactic, and I fell for it. When they arrive, they will only look at your vents for $80. Affer they look, they will give you a estimate, which is closer to what I actually paid. They performed all the work they said they would and they did it well. They did leave a lot of mess, however, and nonchalantly noted how awful that was. Also, I paid for an ionic filter and, despite calls to the company with regard to it, have not ever received it.

ANew Ellenton HVAC
After a visit to assess the problems, a bid and scheduling, the crew arrived early and began removing all the old ductwork, stacking it in the yard to await later removal. The crew began constructing the new main trunk ductwork in the yard, sealing and taping the junctions, wrapping and securing insulation around the segments before moving them into position and installing them. Individual distribution (flex) lines to the vents were installed and secured. Inside the house, a large, new return vent was constructed through a wall into bottom of the closet and into the return ductwork system. The new return increased existing return vent area by a factor of three and was done so that it would not intrude into the normal look and operation of our home. After the installation was completed (about 10 hours), all construction areas in the house were completely cleaned up. The stacks of old ductwork in the yard were removed, that stacking area was raked to removed scraps of sheet metal and insulation and the home and surrounding area was restored to normal appearances. The change to the conditioning of the home was remarkable - running time and noise level greatly reduced. We are really pleased. New Ellenton HVAC has assembled a great crew of professional technicians who did a superb job for us. We will use them for all of our heating/cooling needs.
