when work is being done on a rental property you need to have a contractor you can rely on and I have found Hortonto to be someone that will always do excellent work. The stairs and lights came out great

Wow!  It is the first time I have a company come in and do what they were supposed to do and do it so well that we still can't believe it! My husband and I were thrilled with the workmanship and the quality of the railings.  Everyone that comes to the house is in awe of how nice the railings are and so well installed.  They are a busy company but it is worth getting them to do any aluminum or metal work you need to have done.

First to last John Horton and his team are truly exceptional!  If you are looking for someone that you can depend on to do a first class job for you Horton Remodeling is the right choice.  John is a complete professional as are all of his men.  He very quickly scheduled an appointment to give me an estimate on the job.  He arrived with a clip board, examined all the work to be done and was able to provide us with a detailed estimate within 24 hours.  His estimate was not the least expensive of the three that we had requested but it was certainly the most thorough and it specified two coats for all of the painting whereas other painters specified only one. Also, it was obvious from the start that his attention to detail was much more comprehensive. As it turns out, based on the amount of time and expertise that Horton Remodeling spent on the job, we are convinced that his pricing is very competitive.  John and his team showed up exactly on the date that we had agreed upon and they stayed on the job, without interruption, until it was completed, totally to our satisfaction.  Our home was built in 1879 and is located in the Downtown Historic District, this means that not only are parts of it very old, requiring extra labor, but also any changes that are made need to be reviewed by the commission and any replaced shutters needed to match those that were being replaced.  With 22 windows and 22 pairs of shutters, not to mention three sets of french doors and, numerous decorative corbels around the roof line the scraping and painting process was extremely labor intensive.  The shutters required extensive scraping, priming and repainting.  Some new shutters had to be obtained and John actually had new ones altered so that they matched, exactly, the existing ones.  Throughout four weeks of on site work his painters and carpenters were polite, respectful, careful and most important -- very skilled in the execution of their work.  They refused to re-hang the shutters until they were absolutely sure that they were as perfect as they could get them.  Likewise, they painstakingly repainted the french doors three times because they were not absolutely pleased with how they looked. Every day they arrived early ready to work and when they left at the end of the day their equipment was carefully stowed away and every work area was swept clean. The attic stair replacement was complicated by the fact that the existing old stair had broken and we had it sealed within the drop down door until it could be repaired.  John's men showed great creativity, as well as courage( they had to stand on ladders above the staircase without knowing if the existing stairs might fall on them), in dislodging the old stairs, removing them without causing further damage (to the antique staircase as well as two crystal chandeliers which complicated the project).  They also showed skill and creativity in installing the new stairs.  Since we had them working in that area already we also had them paint the hallway as well -- their interior painting is equally as good as their exterior work.   During this project our garage door, old and worn out, broke.  Without realizing that Horton Remodeling could have replaced it I mistakenly called a garage door specialist.  They came out and did a very poor job replacing the door.  John, and some of his team members, were able to explain to us what was wrong with the installation (just kindly sharing their knowledge) and we were then able to get a new door installed correctly.  Clearly, they could do a wonderful job with garage doors as well. First to last Horton Remodeling was A+++, it is so good to know that there are professionals out there that you can absolutely trust to do an excellent job for you.  We still have a couple of other projects that we intend to call them in on, obviously they are qualified to do just about anything in the remodeling arena.  May they stay in business forever, we will sleep easier at night knowing that whatever help we might need with this truly loved but antique home, we have this reliable resource to call upon.

John Horton and his crew are far and away the best craftsmen and contractors I have worked with.  They're honest, punctual, and the quality of their work is superior to any other contractor I've worked with.  I've contracted them for several projects recently, including repairing severe termite damage.  Where another local contractor told me repairing the damage would take 2 weeks, John had it completed in about 2 days, and that was after I continued to expand the original scope of the project.  I was so pleased with their work I had them back to modify and update my front porch and dormers (in addition to a bunch of other work I kept adding on).  The bottom line is that John Horton is quite possibly the only contractor in Savannah that will actually show up when he says he will and the quality of his work is second to none.

Marco provided a very detailed and complete estimate of work needed and Lino and Team did an incredible job. Lino was very professional and detail oriented making sure that we were completely happy. They showed up at the same time everyday, 8:30am and worked until 6-7pm weather permitting. Even worked on Saturday to complete the job on time! His team did a great job on the house, trim, windows, sealing, priming and painting. No surprises with the final bill, Lino discussed any extra work needed up front. We will use them again! This is the 1st time I have used a contractor for any service that went 100% smoothly with no worries. They did not leave the house until we had the final walk through and were happy!

Jody Johnston of Low Country Services tiled 3 bathrooms, in the shower area and around another bathtub with decorative glass or ceramic tiles. He also changed out a closet door and created a "safety half-door" at the top of our stairs. His work is excellent. He is very professional and cleans up after himself. His prices are reasonable. We could not be more pleased with his work, and plan to use him on other upcoming projects. So glad we found him on Angie's List! Bonus...real nice personality.

AAlex & Bros Painting & Renovations
Have known Alex for a few years and he has completed several projects for me. Previously Alex had put in recessed lighting, under cabinet lighting as well as scraped popcorn ceiling and paint in my kitchen and hallways. Not only that he built stairs for my wife to make it easier to get into our pool. This time Alex scraped the ceilings in the living room, formal dining room, two bedrooms,an office and a two car garage as well as installed crown molding, chair rail and window trim. He also put a custom closet in one of the bedrooms and an epoxy floor in the garage. Next project will be the Master bed and bath. I highly recommend Alex and the crew for any job you may have.

FAllen Bowden dba Personal Project Support
For $1,800 he painted around some interior trim (where he had not finished on a prior job), applied some drywall mud and painted an area about 1 foot by 6" next to a wall phone in the kitchen and painted some slats around a rear deck. He started and didn't finish: regrout around the brick front steps, painting 3 exterior doors and trim, painting the top of a trellis, trim and paint a small access door to under stairs. I have photos.

They were great. They did a real good work for us. The price wasn't bad all. They were a little hard to communicate with, only because there were too many layers. There wasn't one person to call, you would have to call the office, and then they would call you back. I will have them come back to do more work.

Recent Review: My wife and I are extremely pleased with everything that Gerardo and his team worked on. His team was incredibly responsive to our requests, not to mention patient with us even as we changed our minds on a few details throughout the process. Riverside Painting helped us think through our options, provided insight couched in terms of prior experience, and accurately predicted the amount of time it would take to complete the work (with the exception of a rain delay - not their fault!) The whole process started with a free quote provided by Gerardo. He and I walked around the house discussing the work I had asked about as well as other projects that his team could tackle while they were on site. His quote was very detailed, fairly priced, and gave us the confidence we needed to make a decision. We will definitely use their services again!
