Recent Review: The work was very well done. He gave us a free estimate and explained very well the situation we were having with the light switches. When he made a mistake on a light switch, he did the other one for free.
Recent Review: Following a kitchen renovation, I moved a four switch box to the opposite side of a wall. I decided to have a pro come in to run some extra wiring, make the proper connections, and ensure that the project was "per code." Contacted Lightning Bug after seeing hundreds of positive reviews on Angie's List, Kudzu, and Google. Lightning Bug sent James to my home within 36 hours of my call. James inspected my work, made recommendations, and then presented me with a written quote for the work. The quote was a couple of hundreds dollars less than I expected following my previous experiences with All Good and Mr. Sparky. James is very knowledgable and did good, clean work. I will definitely call Lightning Bug for my next project.

APEARCE HOME IMPROVEMENT
I have used Roddy Pearce before and he has always done a great job for me, from installing a hot water heater, moving a gas line for a gas grill, all new wiring for a new kitchen, bathroom plumbing and this light switch. He is dependable, a very reasonable price for work done and I like working with him. He is a very personable guy and very dependable.

I called to request an electrician to track down the cause of a non-working light switch in my garage. The person who took my call said there would be a $39 trip fee, but couldn't tell me what the final charge might be. Of the face of it, I can understand this, because they don't know exactly how much work would be needed, but they said they didn't have an hourly rate. I accepted, hoping the charge would not be much more than the trip fee if the fix was easy. When the tech arrived, he looked at the switch briefly, determined with a probe that there was no power to the switch, checked that no breakers were popped, and then said that the charge would be $275 to track down the problem, plus any parts he installed. This price covered unlimited time to fix the problem and included a check of other aspects of the house's wiring (which I didn't need). That may not be a bad price for that service, but if the person who took my original call had told me that number, I probably would have looked for a lower price elsewhere. I declined. I object to Casteel's practice of not telling customers in advance what they will charge, especially when they actually have a set price that is not dependent on time worked. I would have been more likely to accept if they had given me an hourly rate. But they got their $39 from me for about 15 minutes of their tech's time, so that probably means a profit for them. Casteel makes a big point of saying in their advertising, and when they answer the phone, that they will take AMAZING care of you, but that apparently doesn't extend to being completely transparent about pricing.
