Recent Review: This is a wonderful company. They are efficient, prompt, courteous and very reasonable pri ce. They gave a specific pricece for the removal of old microve and installation  of new one. They also took away the old one. The store wanted almost double the price and $20 for disposal of old microwave. I f I need any work done  in future I will not hesitate to use their services.

Recent Review: They are good. We had he kitchen design service and the contact person there is named Felice Hunter and she is excellent with helping the process and ordering of the components for two kitchens. Her work was the cabinets and granite counter top. Then we also had dealings with the appliance section and plumbing. We had one guy who did all the custom cutting of window shades and another one helped with the grout and the tile stuff. But the major ones were the kitchen design, plumbing and appliances. They day that the granite counter top was being installed, which was at least two months after the purchase date, Felice Hunter called our home to make sure we were ready for the installation. So it may just be a mechanical thing, but I was impressed that there was that kind of follow through. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Another story is that we bought two generators during Hurricane Isaac last August and my husband and I couldn't figure out the directions. So after seven hours of trying to figure out the directions, I went back to the store very desperate. And they sent two men to our house to make sure we got the generators going. Not every store would do that. Everybody works well together there. I think their prices are competitive.

Recent Review: They came out and were very nice and patient. They both do everything they can to save the customer as much money as possible. They are a husband and wife team, they are some of the nicest people I have ever have had the pleasure of working with. We are very happy with the wealth of knowledge they provided, I would recommend their services to anyone! I also recommend that if they send an email and don't follow-up within 24 hours to give them a call because they can get bogged down on emails if they are handling any personal issues as they are husband and wife team. They are a very caring couple and are just great to work with.

Recent Review: It is very rare for me to give an top rating for "anything" but this is the exception to my rule.  Jim gets an A+ for his expertise.  He spent time explaining what had to be done and why.  I truly appreciated the time he devoted to this project.  I would also like to mention Brian, his employee , for the outstanding job he did in completing this project.  I will highly recommend  Jim - actually I already have!

Recent Review: Dec. 1 was the first time we gave him a check from his quote of $2835.00 for 2 vanities with sinks and granite countertop and at the time I gave him a deposit of $1417.50.  Then 2 months ago I gave him a check March 6th for roughly $700.00.  After I had paid the deposit they noticed that my kitchen was not done yet so at that point so he offered to give me a quote on the kitchen and he said he would beat anyone else’s price.  The quote came out to $11,506.88.  Shortly after the quote for the kitchen we put 50% deposit down on March 31st.  He said it would take less than 2 weeks.  I asked him shortly there after could you just make the cabinets now and then I will let you know when I was ready to have them installed.  He said he doesn’t like to do that and keep the cabinets in the shop so they won’t get damaged.  I did make a few small changes before the cabinets before they were made.  I had him add a microwave shelf and move the refrigerator.  When the cabinets were delivered on March 31st and he had them for the originally drawing and so at that point I said lets just put the ones in and remake the other cabinets and at that point  I think that was be very reasonable I was just trying to compromise with him.  The cabinets just don’t fit right in the kitchen.  He only gave me 33” for my refrigerator and my refrigerator is 36” and it was in the garage.  I was missing 3 cabinets didn’t have the one to go over the fridge, the microwave cabinet, and the one to the right of the window.  Now it is May five weeks later and I still do not have cabinets, doors on the cabinets.  I have no doors, sinks, or countertops.  I have been leaving him messages since Friday and have not heard anything.

FJay's Floors & More Inc
Things went pretty horrible. Just about everything that could go wrong went wrong. It's been 2 years and the workers still haven't been back to fix my baseboards. It took them a really, really long time to finish. They put all the cabinets in on one side and they were done wrong so they had to take them all out and put them all back in. I have chips on my floor from them dropping their tools. The owner was very, very rude, and yelled at my mom and yelled at me because we were upset about the kitchen not being done. They did the cabinet wrong. I went in there and I stood in the rain for an hour and a half picking out where I want to lay out my granite with the paper templates, and when they came in and brought it in and laid it up, it was backwards. It was pretty awful. My pantry was not measured right and I had to hire somebody else to do the custom work on the pantry and pay for that myself. I'm not happy at all. The electrical was a lot more expensive than what they had told me that it would cost, and it was subcontracted. Just for the cabinets and not the electrical, it was a good price but I had to put up with a lot of headaches and it's still not being finished after 2 years. I had to put an extra here, and put an extra there. They never seemed to know what they were doing. The kitchen is nice now and I had to put little tabs so that the doors don't bang onto other parts of the cabinet and my microwave and all that stuff. It's still faulty. It looks pretty but it's faulty. The price was good. Their responsiveness wasn't too bad. It was just that it took them so long. It took 2 years to finish so that's not too good. The workers were very nice but it was the company that wasn't good. At the beginning, they measured wrong and they did it wrong. I would never, ever hire or recommend them.

DJC Handy Inc
I contacted Jose Colon of JC Handy, Inc immediately upon purchase of my home ~  September  12, 2012.  Jose came out to my house and provided a verbal and emailed estimate of the work.  He indicated that he was finishing a bathroom remodel and would be available to do the work in October.  After not hearing back from Jose for several weeks, I called him again and he indicated that he could do the work the first week in November.  On October 26, 2012 I finally got a contract from Jose which was amended on October 30, 2012 to include some items we had discussed were not on the contract. I mailed a check for 1/2 of the labor costs as requested.  I also gave Jose a key to my house which was uninhabited at the time so that he could come in to do the work without me being there. Jose has done what has been completed in spurts.  The oriignal plan was to have the work completed before I moved in.  When I refurned home after Thanksgiving Jose had installed the washer, dryer, and range and refrigerator and had completed the installation of the tile.  However, the water supply to the refrigerator was not connected, the dishwasher was placed in front of its space (he dishwasher was damaged so he didn't install it) the anti-tip brackets for the range had not been installed and the microwave had not been installed.  He also had not repaired the area where he removed an outside door that had been installed on the office.  There was also concern about the work that had been completed: The grout in in the kitchen did not appear to be evenly applied in some places. The leveling leg did not appear to have been installed/adjusted for the refrigerator which rocks when the door is open. Even though the water supply was not connected the icemaker was left running which caused a grinding noise and metallic odor.  The anti-tip brackets were not installed on the range. The baseboards that were removed were not been put back on. This included those behind the range and the refrigerator. There were what appeared to be either scratches/adhesive or grout are on the laminate in the family room (room adjacent to the kitchen). 6. Buckets and sponges were left outside the house and excess grout was poured out under the outside faucet right next to the house. Something was poured in the guest bathtub and residue was left in the tub. The following projects had not begun: 1. Installation of the front door 2. Repair of drywall by kitchen sink  3. Repair of tented shingle on roof. 4. Finishing of the ceiling on the back porch Installation of five ceiling fans including one on the back porch. 6. Installation of the garbage disposal. After I sent an text to him about my concerns he called me from Puerto Rico and informed me that his wife was in my house at that moment.  I was already in a bad mood and the news that an unauthorized person was in my house didn't help.  To make a long story shorter, Jose eventually completed the install of my appliances after Christmas.  He promised to come back and complete the work he had started including replacement of the baseboards he removed and repair of the wall where the door was removed. He was also to do some of the other projects that he had previously agreed to do.   About a week or so ago ~ the first week in Feburary 2013 Jose called me to tell me he would be calling me to come and do some of the work.  After reading Angie's list I see that Jose has responded to what appear to be new requests and completed work for others.  I can only assume that my work is not a priority for him.  Too bad, he seems to be a nice guy but I had to provide a honest review.

Beware! This man is scamming people. We are retired and in our 60's. We were not expecting to be misled and harrassed by a contractor who demanded to be paid more $$ even though he did not complete what was expected on the contract.
