Recent Review: Carl and his crew did the best they could do as they had to dodge summer afternoon rains while attempting to get the job finished. Before they even got started Carl was by the house and I showed him one major leak in the utility room. Carl came by later and patched it for me. Once they got some dry days they got going and quickly stripped off the old roof and installed the new one. Quick and efficient is the best way to describe their method of operation. Only hiccup was a new city inspector flexing his "I am the law" muscles but even that was taken care of quickly. The new roof has been on for several months now and no leaks of issues. Great job! Carl went above on beyond what I would have expected and I would hire him again in an instant.

McDavid Roofing Inc
Recent Review: We had a one day delay due to the rains this month and that was only a delay in starting. I received five roofing cost estimates, and McDavid Roofing was the least expensive. McDavid is family owned and local to Alachua County. I purchased the TAMKO Heritage shingle that comes with the 30-yr limited warranty with 15-yr full start warranty, 15 yr warranty of winds up to 130mph, and 10-yr warranty against algae for only $450 over the standard shingle price. The price quoted above does include the Heritage upgrade for a 1750 square feet home 3 bedroom and 2 bath. The oversized garage and the back porch the length of the house are not included in square footage. I was concerned about trucks driving near my septic field, sprinkler system, and well - the debris truck stayed on concrete near the garage all three days of the job. An energetic and polite team of 5 or 6 men showed every day by 7am. The area was cleaned every late afternoon before the roofing team left. There were no cost surprises - the total cost came within $25 of original estimate. McDavid Roofing performed an excellent job, and the cost was at least $1000 less than any of the other roofing estimates. I strongly recommend this family owned company for your roofing needs!

Recent Review: Jerry was very responsive to come out and do the measurements, provide a quote and answer all of my questions. After receiving a couple other bids we decided to go with Scott Smith. Their product offering was competitive and they had good reviews. The job started in the time-frame that was promised (about 3-4 weeks after contract signing). The crew showed up promptly and the crew leader was courteous. They did tear-off and replaced the underlayment. The inspection after replacement/nailing of the underlayment was a little mismanaged. The city inspector was unable to come late in the day as said, but when he came early the next day (as promised) the crew had not yet arrived. This seemed like it could have been better handled. All inspections passed and the crew put a beautiful new roof on the house.  Overall, the installation took about 3.5 days, but it seemed like it should have been smoother/quicker. Clean-up was ok, but not great. I found almost 20 nails without really looking that hard after they allegedly did a magnet sweep. Also, our front gutter got slightly bent and gouged at the beginning of the process. I had to mention it to the supervisor. They did a fine job repairing it, but it seemed like the crew just hoped I wouldn't notice instead of being up front. There were a few little things in the clean-up that could have been better, as well. I found some cigarette butts that should not have been left around. Also, they didn't sweep everywhere around the house where debris from the old shingles fell. In summary, the job went well enough. I have no concerns with the quality of the roof or craftsmanship of the installation. However, the final communication and clean-up could have been handled a little better. Overall, I am satisfied, but not "over the moon". If I could give a B+, that would be the overall grade.

Recent Review: I cannot say enough nice things about this company. A family business, it is run by the grandson of the founder, and they do things right. The crew were all efficient, hard-working, and polite. They even took care not to disturb a bird's nest when I pointed it out. The foreman was a frequent visitor, as was the owner. I felt throughout that I was in good hands--and the new roof is beautiful! A further note: When my insurance company refused to accept the wind mitigation form provided automatically when the roof was finished, Chris Tenney sent an inspector to document the roof's hurricane worthiness--at his own expense!--saving me over $250 on my yearly premiums. I can't recommend this company highly enough! 5/15/15 I had to call the company because my roof was leaking--NOT THEIR FAULT!--and they were so prompt and professional that I wanted to say again how great I think they are. This is my favorite contractor of all time.

Recent Review: A week prior to the scheduled start date, we were informed that there would be a one-day slip. The day prior to start, vendors delivered the materials needed for the installation. The McFall work trailer was parked on the street in front of the house. The day of the installation, a Porta-Pot and a dumpster were delivered and the Gainesville Building Permit posted. Workers arrived at 7:30 AM and quietly staged protective tarps over all the shrubbery adjacent to the house. At eight, shingles were being scraped off and the job was underway. It took two-and-a-half days from start to completion. On day one, the old shingles were removed, damaged decking was replaced, installed decking planks were re-nailed as required, openings for prior roof turbines and furnace were filled in, ridge vent opening cut, and peel-and-stick underlayment was installed. At the end of this day, there was no exposed roofing. We were safe from rain. The next day, radiant barrier insulation was laid down and 1?x4? perlins (wooden nailers to raise metal for additional insulation) installed. The metal roofing had been premeasured and cut to size before delivery. Each roofing panel was predrilled for the stainless steel screws to that when installed on the roof, each screw seated firmly and wasn?t omitted. The overlapping edge of each metal was fitted with butyl tape sealant. Replacement Sun-Tek CMG II skylights were installed. As in previous days, all debris was removed and a bar magnet rolled over the grounds to find stray fasteners. The last day, the final roofing panels were installed, the ridge vent installation was completed, gutters refastened as necessary and their leaf guards reinstalled. Our two storage buildings then received matching metal roofing. Mike McFall came by each day to check on progress and to see if there were any problems. Included in the contract cost was a wind mitigation inspection in which a professional inspects and prepares a report to be submitted to our insurer, undoubtedly resulting in lower homeowner insurance cost. I enthusiastically recommend McFall Residential Roofing.

We obtained several bids prior to replacing our old asphalt roof with a new metal roof, in anticipation of installation of a rooftop photovoltaic solar system. The prices varied widely from high to very high.  Towards the end of this process of looking for a contractor, the name Godwin Green Roofing (Gainesville, FL) started to pop-up.  When this contractor was also recommended by the solar installer we had chosen (Pure Energy Solar) I decided to call for a bid.  Chris Tenney, the grandson of the founder, William ('Papa G') Godwin got back to me on the day before his wedding, and came out to bid the job -despite our remote location- shortly after his return from his honeymoon.  The bid was reasonable and he even talked us out of replacing some of our existing skylights with solar tubes as he felt this would be too costly and aesthetically difficult.  He priced out all of the options separately and did not push any of them.  We agreed on the work to be done, a price, and on a start date, and his crew arrived as scheduled. The removal of the old roof, the replacement of damaged decking, and re-nailing of all decking was completed in the first day.  The work proceeded in an orderly and continuous fashion over the course of one week. The crew was professional and respectful,  leaving the roof weather-tight at the end of each day and cleaning the job site as they went along. They took down vinyl siding on a vertical wall drop in the roof to allow for flashing, preserved it, and re-installed it at the end of the job - saving me the cost and hassle of having to find a contractor to do this.  Chris coordinated the roof installation with both the solar contractor as well as the individual who performed the wind mitigation analysis (to lower homeowner's insurance premiums) to assure that all went smoothly.  He was easily accessible to me during the entire project for questions or concerns. They took considerable care in ensuring that all flashing, boots, and valleys were properly installed to avoid future issues.  As my existing gutters were hung a little low for a metal roof, they installed extra wide flashing from the roof edge to assure that no water would run behind the gutters.  By the end of the job we had a beautiful metal roof with a finished look that you sometimes don't see on other metal roofs.  The crew even came back on the Saturday after completion of the roof to police the work site for nails and other debris as inclement weather prevented it being done on Friday.  I can't say enough for how pleased we were with the entire process with Chris Tenney and Godwin Green Roofing.  I would recommend them without reservation and would use them in the unlikely event that I should ever need another roof.
