D & D AWNINGS LLC
Recent Review: We have our own well and water treatment for our house here in Florida, and it?s best to protect the equipment from the sun. This equipment is on the west side of the house. When we bought this house, there was an awning over the equipment. The awning was in poor condition and covered in mildew, so it needed replacement. We called D&D Awning for an estimate. What they quoted seemed reasonable, so we engaged them to do the job.  It took six weeks from estimate to installation. I have included before and after photos. They told us how to take care of the new awning (hose it off monthly) and it has an eight-year warranty. They took away all the old awning material and did a great job.

Reviews in Punta Gorda to Install Retractable Awnings

This is a prime example of a failure to provided post-sales customer service. I purchased a retractable awning from this company.  The installation was completed by two very professional installers.  If I could just rate the installers, this company would get high marks.  As the installers were explaining how it works, I asked how to wind it in case of power failure.  The two awnings I own in other homes have the ability to crank it in manually or use the motor.  They told me that the awning doesn't have a manual capability.  Strange, since the one they replaced had it and the marketing material clearly stated that "operation can be manually by means of a crank handle or electrically by motor".  It doesn't say that you choose one or the other, the statement implies both features are included.  Since the awning they replaced had these features, I was expecting this one to have it too. When I spoke to the salesman, who was very nice in making the sale, his demeanor changed to confrontational, aggressive and argumentative.  He said he was surprised that I didn't inquire about that option.  How would I know that was an option?  I don't sell awnings for a living.  He then repeatedly asked when he could come over and remove it.  I explained to him that I wasn't looking to remove it, I just want to resolve my concern.  This was again answered with the question of when do I want then to remove it.  He repeated this question recursively to each question I asked. Needless to say, I wasn't going to have them remove it since they already had half my money so good luck getting that back.  I asked the extremely nice woman that runs their scheduling to have the owner call me, and he never did.  I put two calls in and he never returned either.  I don't have high hopes for a return call as it's been several weeks now. I told the salesman that I would write a negative review and he told me to go ahead and do that.  So here it is.  A quick call by the owner or a more professional response by the sales person would have avoided my dissatisfaction.  I'm not looking to get anything for free, I just want to understand why the option was left out and why it wasn't offered to me, especially given the fact the replaced awning had it and printed marketing material that leads the buyer to assume that both features are included.

The work turned out well. They were prompt, professional, and courteous. They were "A+" people. I would use them again if needed.

The boat was taken to their yard for a template to be cut (and the original awning piece was provided as well). It was taken back a week later for the new awning to be fitted and installed. The second time the boat was used after the new awning was in place the zippers ripped out of the new canvas. The canvas was returned to the company and they had to make a new one which took a few days. When we collected it, and tried to attach it to the boat we found the pull for one of the zippers was missing. We had to return the canvas again. When it came back this time the pull had been added but we discovered that the two halves of the zipper were different sizes so it could not be joined. Back again. This time a new zipper was sewn in but when we went to attach it to the boat, the awning is really too small and does not fully close. Also the stitching does not seem strong enough and is already pulling out of the canvas. The new canvas is not as strong as the old one and even after all these returns it still is too small.

DNaples Awning
About two years after it was installed it just fell off the wall. There was no wind and fortunately no one was underneath it at the time.  I called the company to make repairs and made an appointment.  They came a day earlier than the appointment without telephoning me, so I was on my way out for a different appointment and told them to go ahead and complete the new installation.  When I reutrned I found the awning put up but it was not level from side to side.  It is a retractable and hangs from the upper brackets, so I was not able to make any adjustment.  There were also some tears in the canvas of the awning which had not been repaired.  After many calls asking for the Manager, Alan Denton, and a letter to the company to fix it I gave up because I got no response and figured they didn't care. It is now about a year later and I have been so irritated with the crooked awning that I went out and got the tools needed and fixed the leveling myself.  I will live with the torn canvas because it will be a constant reminder for me to never do business with this compnay again.
