Recent Review: Fellow members: please read this review carefully. We called Tru Colors earlier this year for a popcorn scraping quote for our home. They were very professional as (almost) all of the other reviews say. However, before we hired them a recent "C" grade popped up. Now a "C" grade is not bad as it's more neutral. However, since we were in the market for what seemed to be the exact same service, I was concerned as I needed my experience to be problem-free and, more importantly, completed on time. As a business owner and real estate investor it's great to see that they have an "A" average but the true test of a customer service driven organization is how they handle errors/issues/mistakes/problems, whatever you want to call it as they will inevitably come up. With those concerns, I called the office and spoke with Lori. She was honest with me and told me the issues they had, that the crew that did that job was no longer with them, that they gave them a significant discount and also that there were some communication problems with the customer as well. She was upset that the issues occurred and accepted full responsibility for them. NOTE: This was BEFORE the company responded to the grade here on Angie's List. Feeling confident, we decided to proceed and were scheduled. We live at least an hour or more from their office depending on traffic, etc. (not to mention the large trailer they brought behind the truck). Lori realized that and made certain the guys left earlier than normal to maximize the time they have on the job and to accomplish the job in the two days quoted as we had a painter previously scheduled to come in the following day. The guys, Billy and Max, showed up on time, taped off everything with plastic (similar to Dexter on Showtime) to minimize any mess that may affect the rest of the house and got to work. And work they did, this was a large vaulted ceiling that required heavy scaffolding. By the end of the first day, the popcorn was scraped and a light texture was sprayed on the walls. While they were entirely willing to break down the scaffolding and ALL of the plastic, it was in our best interest to keep as much of it up as possible. The next day, Max returned with Edwin to paint. They did hit some traffic which was unfortunate (but this is South Florida so we understand the likelihood of that happening). Regardless, they immediately got to work again putting up more plastic and painting the ceiling. During the ceiling painting we learned that our handyman/painter took a larger job during the time we had him scheduled and would not be able to paint the next day. We called Lori for an approximate quote which was very reasonable as it was, coincidentally, the same amount our handyman/painter gave us. Luckily the scaffolding and everything was in place so they got to work fast. While they did need to pack up and leave, we encouraged them to stay since they arrived late and we were eager to get the painting done - and they did. Keep in mind, this was a decent amount of unscheduled work for them. They knocked it out fast and in the end, Lori charged us much less than she (and our painter) originally quoted. Needless to say we were happy having the entire 3 day job (doing it piecemeal) done in two. They broke down the scaffolding, removed the plastic and left. The next day we saw that some of our marble steps had been damaged, most likely from the scaffolding. We didn't see it the day before since we had emptied the room and it was darker than usual. Now, if you've read this far, you know this is the exact reason why I called to ask about the other review. The "what if" scenario. Let me tell you, Lori and Paul were very unhappy to hear that there was any kind of damage and immediately had their tile guy call us . He came out when we agreed and fixed them like new. I can tell you that over many years as a homeowner and many properties owned as an investor, you cannot go wrong with Tru Colors. They are as professional as we wish "everyone" would be in any industry. In the home improvement industry, I truly believe you will find no organization finer than them. If I could give them an A++++ I would. You can hire them with confidence knowing that the job will done correctly and that they actually care. I will use them exclusively from now on - they are that good. After all, that's why we use Angie's List, right? PS - You should keep in mind that as a business, it's not in their interest to delay jobs, efficiency is their friend. You can count on them to stick with their timeline (barring anything unforeseen).
