Reviews in Pompano Beach to Install Bamboo Flooring

APride Flooring
We had no problems with this company, they came when agreed to measure and give us an estimate for bamboo flooring.  We then had to agree on an install date and after our changing it a couple of times we got a firm date.  We were told that the install was to cover three days.  However when the installers came they had six people on the job and were able to get the total job, living room, kitchen, family room, entry way and two closets done in one long day.  This included ripping out and installing new baseboard.   The installers were very concerned that we would be happy with the job, they continually cleaned up after themselves and made certain to inform us of any potential problems as they came up,  Nothing seemed to cause them any concern an they got right down to it from the first.  They had two saws set up in the yard and were trimming baseboard and flooring as needed.  Often one will find bits of material left from a job left behind, however this was not the case here, they left the area a clean as it had been when they got there.  When finished in the house they swept the entire area and mopped the floor to remove any dust they had left.  All in all they were a  great crew, who did a super job and did it in one day, which was much appreciated,

FFIFTY STARS FLOORING, INC.
In December 2013 Fifty Stars was the sub-contractor for Home Depot to install bamboo flooring in one room of my home.   We wanted to put in bamboo flooring to lighten a room..  Within 7 months the flooring started cupping - warping on the edges of the boards.  After much run around from Home Depot they washed their hands of the issue.  They blamed the moisture in the concrete slab of my home for the cupping.  To us it was obviously the installation that was the problem because the floor we had taken out had absolutely no issues.  Originally a moisture barrier was on the work order for the installation.  But the "experts" said it was not needed because they were going to use a glue that had moisture barrier built in.  The cupping is not happening in places where a water leak might be a issue - walls shared with a bathroom or by the exterior wall.   The cause was due to the glue not being properly applied in areas. When I called Fifty Stars to find out about the moisture reading of the concrete slab when they did the installation, the owner, Andres Arias Duval, wanted to address the problem.  He offered to sand the floor to even it out and refinish it.  The machine he needed was in the shop waiting for parts, but just as soon as it was fixed he would stand behind his work.  I believed him.  He seemed most sincere and was able to string me along for 6 months.  I called and the machine was not ready.  I called again and he had gotten his machine back.  He was going to call to schedule.  I called him a few more times.  I offered to pay for the refinishing because I wanted to get ready to sell my home. I heard nothing from him.   I called again and said please just let me know if you cannot do the work because I will contact some one else - I'm on a deadline. I have heard nothing from him again. He seemed very nice.  He appeared sincere.  But he led me on for 6 months.

The crew arrived on time, very polite. They worked diligently removing the wood flooring, and glue, that was ruined due to water damage. Cleaned up everything. When I initially called Daniel Flooring, I was given an immediate appointment. A rep came out the next day and gave me a written estimate, there were no surprises at the end. I'm very happy with them and would definitely use them again.

Fabio answered my first call, came to our house in one hour and returned the same day to begin carpet removal. Floors were installed and finished within 24 hours of starting. He was punctual and considerate, careful to cover our things to prevent dust. He and his assistant did a great job!

I found Pride Flooring on Angie's List. Everything was fine until Marc insisted I pay for something that had not been in any of the original discussions or quotes and he OVER-measured, thus charging me more on the invoice. I drove out there and signed paperwork and left a deposit. I told him I didn't like the base board styles he had and would hold off on that, but he wrote it in saying we could take it off later once I decided. I was handling the permitting process and they were flexible and punctual with that. Marc came to measure and quoted me for baseboard 256 linear feet for baseboard and 735 sq. ft of removing and disposing carpet and installing floating bamboo flooring. Other quotes I got were for 160 linear feet. When I called him on it, he said he 'doubled the living room'. Not sure why he would do that, when the living room and dining room were way bigger than the bedroom. Obviously to gouge me for more money, hoping I wouldn't notice. At one point the underlayment I got did not pass permitting, so Pride Flooring recommended another kind and went and bought it. I also had by then gotten an Eco-underlayment that was also approved and wanted to use, but Marc claimed they'd had to go to Broward County for it, so I went to return what I bought even though I preferred to use my product. He lowered the price from $.75 to $.69 per ft to match. The guys came out and layed it, but didn't clean up after their first day, though they did the 2nd day after they installed the floor. After the first day while we were waiting for city inspection, I got another invoice from Marc, this time with a $96 charge for removing the baseboard. It was obvious because I had decided to purchase my own baseboard, he now wanted to charge me more. I refused to pay it, and I also refused to use them to install the baseboard, given this extra charge and also the gross mis-measurement of the baseboard linear feet. In an Aug. 23, 2019 email, this is what Angie's List warned customers about: Contractor is bidding low to win your business and will add expenses later in the absence of a written "change procedure." What Angie's List should add is customers should look over the shoulders of everyone measuring their space, too. (Quiet Walk underlayment, $590; labor: $1987, including $150 paid to them to pick up some of the flooring 20 minutes from their office at Floor and Decor)

They were very professional. They put a coating on the floor that made it look very nice. They also replaced a couple of pieces that had rotted through because of a prior leak. The floor looked nearly brand new after they had finished.

It was all so easy.  They worked with our building for requirements and permits.  They were on time, neat and respectful of our property.  They asked questions along the way on how we wanted certain details done.  They gave us options.  Overall I would personally use them again and recommend them to others.  They know and understand flooring and the complications of installation in a high rise condo.

FMartinez Wood Floors Inc
Last November we hired Martinez-Wood Floors,Inc. for the job of removing , disposing and installing bamboo floors on 970 sq ft for $2,520.00. During the installation they requested $400 extra for having to move some furniture. We paid. Following that, they requested an additional $1,200 to replace parts of the sub-floor which we paid. Two weeks AFTER completion the floor buckled up throughout the house, and in the some areas it lifted away from the floor to the point that it was dangerous to walk on it. We made numerous attempt to contact them, by mail , phone calls and emails with no luck. I was informed that the reason the wood is warped it is because there is no moisture barrier, and the wood didn't have enough spacing from the wall. My parents spent $4,120 for 970 sq ft of labor to replace the wood floor. USING Martinez Wood Floors, Inc. was a big mistake. We lost the cost of the wood and the floors have to be done again. I am posting this to warn Angie's List subscribers, this company is not professional

Recent Review: They did a good job. Knowledgeable, hard working, conscientious. The crew leader, James, was particularly friendly and easy to work with. The only slight negative about the experience was the pressure to pay by check instead of credit card. But overall I'm very happy with the job and I'm happy to recommend them.

Recent Review: They were excellent! Professionals and the work turn out beautifully. They took pictures of every detail to be able to return the furniture and everything in the same place as before. I have a home office and I were very concerned if it would interrupt me, but they were so carefully that even the wires of my computer they put together so well that it worked with any problem.

Recent Review: They were excellent. The flooring was the most expensive thing. I would recommend them even if they are a little pricey, but what they did was wonderful. I can't complain at all about how the garage is. Everything is neat and there are all these compartments. The flooring is great and does not mar or mess up. They said it is really good with animals and it is a very durable floor.

Recent Review: I was in the restoration business for over 20 years but didn't have any experience with a relatively new product, i.e., vinyl plank flooring.  I am a detail-oriented person that gets involved in every aspect of a project especially when it is a new product with a new contractor.  In some ways, Benchmark and I learned some new things about what underlayments work best with vinyl plank flooring, and how to get the vinyl plank and underlayment system approved by the county.  I am amazed about how little other flooring contractors and product vendors I called know about the underlayments that will work with vinyl plank flooring.  If you don't use the right underlayment, the floor will probably fail after the contractor is long gone. But here's the important point ... despite me drilling down on EVERY detail and overriding Benchmark's original recommendation for the flooring underlayment, the lead foreman, Alex Miller, was 100%+ helpful and willing to work through all the details, and ALWAYS with a very positive attitude.  I have worked with many contractors over the years, and Benchmark's willingness to stick with a challenging customer is commendable.  In my view, other than a reasonable amount of experience (which I believe Benchmark has), the number one criteria of a good contractor is how responsive the project manager is to the customer's questions and concerns.  Benchmark gets an A++ in this regard. Another thing I like about Benchmark is they seem to be the right size company for the average home owner or small investor. They are never too busy to take your call, and they were responsive to inquiries.  Right before the flooring project started, I decided I needed to get some painting done.  Benchmark was able to provide two excellent painters on short notice at a reasonable rate.  When we got rolling with the flooring, the installers (Edwin and assistant) were great.  When the project was completed, they gladly returned some extra materials I purchased to Home Depot at no cost - an extra service not discussed in the contract. Based on this first experience, I would recommend Benchmark to anyone and will definitely use them again.  I look forward to reading other customer's reviews in the future.
