They were suppose to just come an inspect my roof to tell me what exactly I needed to do regarding the leak. We are trying to sell our house and knew we needed to have our problem fixed. The inspector came out at first and looked on the outside before it rained, he said he would come back to check the inside. At 4 o'clock, when the inspector was suppose to come, just two other individuals showed up, came inside then headed up to the roof. When they came out they were just to do an inspection to provide me with an estimate, they first looked on the inside, they when they went up onto the roof all of the sudden I heard hammering. I came inside to check Angie's List, and sign up to find roofing companies. By the time I was done signing up, they had already left. I realized they had "fixed" the leak by replacing the shingles that were where the leak was occurring. The shingles in no way matched the rest of the roof color. They had replaced some wood as well, as some of the wood had rotted. They left before I could speak with them, as I would have thought they would have discussed what they had done on the roof before leaving. I did not receive a written or verbal estimate before them leaving, or providing the service. I never gave them the "go ahead" to do the job. The next thing I new, I received an invoice for $499.80 for the job they had completed. I'm really concerned with this because they really had not had any confirmation from me that I wanted them to even provide the service, as I was just looking for some estimates. I did have two other appointments for estimates that were scheduled as well, so this was suppose to be the first step of my process, but it became when all the trouble started for me.
