D & E Pump Sales & Service
Recent Review: I called the shop to ask about a replacement sprinkler pump, the person who answered the phone was polite and patient ( I don't know much about sprinkler systems!). He quickly was able to identify the replacement pump and quoted a reasonable price. I went to the store to pick up the pump, he took the time to explain how to wire in the motor and also took the time to collect all the PVC pieces/ parts I wanted to finish the installation. After I paid he once again asked if I was comfortable wiring the motor. Thumbs up for good customer serice

Sun Plumbing
Recent Review: Scheduling seems to be a bit of a difficult thing with Sun as the window for a service call is essentially any time during the day, although they will provide you with a 30 minute notice. That said, the first call happened on a Saturday morning and the fellow running the septic truck was extremely friendly and had a very positive attitude. He introduced himself, inspected everything immediately, provided a solid professional recommendation, and performed all of the tasks required of him in a relatively short amount of time (dug up a planter, drained 3 septic tanks, identified the pump problem, repaired the grounds, and set up the second service call). Probably the best interaction with a repairman that I've ever had. The second call happened on a weekday afternoon. It involved one plumber and an assistant, neither of whom introduced themselves or provided much in the way of dialogue throughout the process. They did quickly replace the pump and did an ok job on repairing the grounds (returning mulch to a flowerbed, some sod). They had thrown away the paperwork for the new pump, but I was able to recover that documentation (albeit somewhat dirty due to its interaction with the removed pump). All in all, the speed and quality were great. The first tech was light years ahead of the second tech and his assistant in terms of helpfulness throughout the process. Price seemed to be straightfoward...would recommend them to anyone with some caveats around what to expect from the scheduling process.

Recent Review: Overall, installation went well, however, the end price was a BIG surprise. Original estimate was for under $600, but with the addition of 3 ball valves in a simple manifold, the final price was just under $1000. My lesson from this experience and my warning to anyone else who deals with GW Pumps is to have an itemized estimate in hand. Any variation should be in writing and fully understood. The original estimate did not include any of the extra prices and I was not aware of the exorbitant price increase until the work had been completed. WARNING: get your "COMPLETE" estimate in hand before you have GW pumps do any work for you. If I knew ahead of time how much he would have charged, I would not have let him do the work, or at least, I would not have let him do the additional (simple) PVC manifold which he charged me nearly $300 extra for. On his original estimate to completely hook up the pump, including electrical and 4 standard hose bibs, the only additional option included was: 2) Install T and 1-1/2" Ball valve on discharge of pump for future irrigation lines. ADD $59.00 +tax. Sta-Rite DS3HF, 1-1/2 hp Pro-Storm Series Irrigation Pump 1 *** *** Sta-Rite's 3 year extended pump warranty when installed by Sta-Rite Award Dealer. (no additional charge) *** *** 1-1/2" PVC Ball Valve for connecting to the PVC pipe leading from the well to the pump 1 *** *** Miscellaneous 1-1/2" PVC fitting 1 *** *** Boiler Drain/Hose Bib 4 *** *** Install Pump Total estimate price for above: $552.00 plus tax. But the end result was much higher and I was charged $196 to install (4) 1-1/4 ball valves. This was totally exorbitant and unexpected. I think the unexpected high price was very unprofessional and would not recommend GW Pumps.

DD & E Pump Sales & Service
Installation went without a hitch, and water started being pumped up for my lawn.  After about a year I started getting much sand deposited into the sand filter.  So much came up that the filter was full, and water was being blocked from flowing into the pump.  Pump overheated and the PVC fittings expanded and water was spraying over a part of my garage where the pump was installed.  I called D & E, and they came out and fixed the PVC installation.  The pump seemed to  be working properly and water came up from the well.  This event happened again, and PVC  melted.  This time D & E determined that the PVC well liner in the steel casing must have ruptured allowing sand to get into the well, and a new well liner pipe was installed in the steel casing.  This was done under the warranty with no charge to me. Again, the pump and well seemed to operate satisfactorily,  This went on for a period of time.  I  then lost prime when I cleaned out the sand filter as the D & E mechanic had removed the valve that had been installed at the well head that allowed the well to be closed off preventing loss of prime. I then called another well drilling company to come out and check out the problem.  The mechanic from the new company  determined the the valve that was removed from the well head should not have  been removed, and he installed another valve there.  The pump operated satisfactorily for a month or so, and then the sand filter filled up within seconds.  I cleaned it out several times, but the filter filled up quickly again. I called the new well company,  and the mechanic came out to check the well.  He told me, after cleaning out the filter which again filled up that the galvanized steel well casing must have rusted or split allowing sand to get in which probably sank to the bottom of the well thus being pumped up to the filter.  He further said the the casing could have been Chinese or Korean pipe which is notoriously poor quality and rusts quickly. Therefore, I face the problem and expense of having a new well drilled as there is no way to repair the faulty casing pipe.  Needless to say, I am very unhappy with D & E Pump.
