Dan is truly a nice person and a real professional. He came right on out and looked at the shingle roof on the front of the home (that was not then leaking) and the flat roof on the rear of the home (an ill done addition that was leaking). I really did not clue Dan in on where the leak in the flat roof was, but rather just showed him the addition and told him it was leaking. He got up on the roof, walked it over really well. walked to the center edge and pointed to the joint between the flashing and the roof mat at the eave of the addition in the back part and said "there's your leak, the previous job was not correctly sealed around the edges of the flashing with the proper mastic. That is where the water is coming in" I was flabbergasted, and VERY impressed. Without looking inside the house for a clue where the leak was, and with little prompting from the outside he went right to the leak. Another thing that impressed me right away was his comments about the shingle roof. Other roofers had condemed the shingle roof as needing immediate replacement. Dan, on the contrary aware of our budget issues (my dad, the owner, is 87 and has very limited resources)examined the shingle roof throughly and concluded we had at least a year or more left in the shingle roof. That was a true relief for me, as we ultimately had enough money to do a good job on the flat roof, and have some time to save up and have Dan come back to do the shingle roof later in the year. More things about Dan and his company impressed me. The weather was about to turn rainy later the next day. So once we told Dan to go with it, he had a crew on the job with all the materials they needed working to dry the roof in THAT AFTERNOON, anticipating the next day when the rain was to move in during the late afternoon. The guys came back the next morning early and worked to finish the roof ahead of the rain. However, let us be clear they took thier time and were dilligent and took the care needed to get the roof dried in and where it would not leak in anticipation of the rain that afternoon. Sure enough, it rained and the roof did leak! The guys came back the next morning and finished up. To my delight the night before when the rains came (it rained pretty hard) the roof did not leak! Another area I felt Dan excelled in is anticipating repairs to the deck as this roof leaked for a few months (because of where the leak was) undetected. Dan walked the roof to be sure it was solid, and assured me he would treat us fairly if any excess carpentry had to be done. As it worked out, the amount of repair to the deck he anticipated was adequate and no extra carpentry was needed. Good call, the mark of an honest and knowledgeable man. Dan's people knew thier work. They were focused on the job, the only time they communicated with me was if they needed to. They cleaned up, left the job site clean and neat and the roof is FANTASTIC! I am very happy, even estatic because we have had other people doing work in other areas of the home with less than pleasant results so this roof job is truly a blessing. Please consider Dan your first choice, don't worry about getting prices from others. He's competitve and honest. When your resources are limited, as ours were at this particular time, a man of Dan's character and skill is truly a blessing!
