Recent Review: This was the most unprofessional painter I have ever encountered. He showed up late every morning, called in sick one day. His work was very sloppy, he skipped over some areas and did not paint them, left paint smeared on windows, paint runs on walls, paint splatter everywhere, nasty brush marks on large areas of wall he did paint. The contract specified that doors were to be sprayed. Instead, he used a roller on them. He made a mess in my garage. He did not clean up after himself. He left the used paint cans containing wet paint in my garage and hid 2 5 gallon pails containing liquid under job debris and trash he put in my trash bin, rather than removing it from the jobsite. Although the contract specified balance due upon completion, he asked me for payment in full  before the job was completed. His work got even sloppier when he did not get his request. I finally paid him to get him out of my house. Subsequently, I had a paint professional and two professional painters inspect the job. The result was a two page list of deficiencies to be corrected which took 2 days.  Two rooms, two walls, and the front door were entirely re-painted in addition to smaller areas. I myself have spent 12 to 15 hours cleaning up paint, trash, and moving furniture and things back to their proper place. The $5000 was a total waste of money. This person also presents a business card in the name of Viking Painting, Waterproofing Handyman which states that he is licensed and insured.

EHM
Recent Review: Previous piering companies had tried and failed to solve our sinking foundation problem with undersized piers. After researching available options and getting quotes from a few companies, we chose Expert House Movers to excavate around our foundation, install custom made piers to support the weight of our house (full masonry, stone foundation, slate roof and terazzo floos) and spray a rubberized coating on the below ground portion of our foundation to stop future water penetrations in our stone foundation. They showed up promptly, performed the necessary work in a timely matter and were careful of the landscaping we wanted to keep. The job itself took longer than anticipated mostly due to additional work needed once the foundation was exposed (tuckpointing, new window wells, etc). There was minor damage to the sprinkler system and the water service line, but we were compensated for the damage by EHM. My only complaint was the amount of old drainage pipes and broken concrete that was left on site during the work and not removed until the end of the job.

EVERYONE I DEALT WITH WAS POLITE AND PROFESSIONAL. THEY FINISHED AHEAD OF SCHEDULE AND TO MY SURPRISE, THEY REDUCED THE FINAL PRICE DUE TO AN OVERSITE ON THE INITIAL BID. I NEVER WOULD HAVE CAUGHT IT. I GUESS I HAVE BEEN ''RIPPED OFF'' MORE THAN I CARE TO ADMIT. THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE DEALING WITH THE BASEMENT GUYS WAS, TO MY SURPRISE, QUITE PLEASANT. MUCH THANKS TO THE BASEMENT GUYS AND TO ANGIE'S LIST. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ANGIE'S LIST IN CENTRAL FLORIDA. I THINK IT GIVES GOOD CONTRACTORS THE INCENTIVE TO GO THAT EXTRA MILE AND TREAT CUSTOMERS LIKE CUSTOMERS.
