Recent Review: My A/C was leaking, and so keep in mind that all of this was paid for by insurance. The salesmen were nice but tended to be vague. When we asked about a wood it was hard to get an exact price per square foot. Glenn from the North Monroe office helped us. There was some in-stock strand bamboo that we truly loved, and when we could fit it into our budget, we put it in. They were able to lower the price to fit our price range. Sullivan Hardwood Flooring did the work, and they did a great job. After they finished we noticed that one piece of threshold was the wrong grain and colors, but when we asked about it, they fixed it immediately.

Luke Nicholson Construction Company
Recent Review: I recently hired Luke Nicholson to assess floor board damage in my home. The damage was extensive and no one before him could figure out the moisture problem, other than pointing out how humid Tallahassee is. Apparently, the AC company that installed a new unit 7 years ago failed to fill the ground level hole in my exterior brick wall, that was exposed when the new (smaller) unit was installed. For 7 years water has been pouring into my crawlspace and being absorbed into the insulation, resulting in the rotting of the majority of the sub-floors in two rooms, making my house “sick”. The mold and rot was extensive. In fact, I’ve been treating my cat for asthma for the last couple years and now his symptoms have cleared up completely! Luke is extremely knowledgeable and competent (he is also an engineer). The man can assess any problem and fix it. He knows what materials to use to make sure the job is done correctly. He is a perfectionist and EVERYTHING he does is detailed and beautiful. He cleans his work space up when he is done each day. As a woman, hiring people to come into my home to repair things can present two issues. .. #1 Being taken advantage of, regarding what needs to be done and how much will be charged. #2 Creep factor..... these are NOT issues with Luke. He will assess the situation and recommend exactly what must be done, estimate the material / labor costs, and provide a realistic timeline. He is honest, trustworthy, flexible, punctual, professional, reasonable, and an all around great person. I highly recommend him and so does my cat, Jack!

ZAPATA HARDWOOD FLOORS
Recent Review: They made mistakes.  Cracks appeared in the floor after they laid it... some pretty large ones.  At the entry way one crack was about 3/8" wide... some smaller but still very noticeable ones at two other door ways.  Brent came to check it out after several phone calls and asked me to call him back in a month.  I think he though it might fix itself.  I waited a month and made an appointment for them to come back.  They came a day earlier than expected... not convenient -- but, we rearranged out plans to accommodate them.  He had tried to get us to buy another carton of material to use in fixing their job.  I had seen them break up and carry away long pieces...  and it didn't seem right that we should have to buy more material.  He did supply the material in the end.  He was a real sour puss and pretty rude... and that is after he told me that he didn't care for rude northerners coming to Tallahassee.  We're not rude and we're not exactly northerners either.  I'm from Texas and my husband is Hungarian.  He  didn't do good work... delayed fixing a bad job...  was not pleasant to work with...  didn't return phone messages promptly.  They did eventually get the floor fixed.  I would also hesitate to use Lumber Liquidators if that is the quality of workmen they send out with their material.  We had to pay Lumber Liquidators for the installation, yet when I called about the cracks appearing in the floor, they told me they weren't responsible and that I would have to deal with Zapata directly.

Entire experience was great. He was knowledgeable and helpful about the materials needed. Great price. The two men completed the job in one day. Cleaned up and hauled away all scrap materials. Did not smoke.
