Recent Review: We were in need of a structural setlement evaluation on a home we ere buying so I checked Angie's list and found Barry Smith from Pinnacle engineering. I gave Barry a call that same day and left a message. The next afternoon Barry called me back ans explained that he was in the middle of expert testimony on three trials but very much wanted to help us. Barry took down all of my contact information as well as the informayon of our realtor and contacted him instantly. Barry then called me back to let me know that he contacted the homeowners and scheduled the inspection for the next day. Barry also took his time and explained to me exactly what he would be doing and the cost. Barry also let me know the difference between what he was going to do and a sinkhole inspection. He wanted me to fully understand that his inspection was not the same as a sinkhole inspection and would not give any determination of potential sinkhole activity. Once Barry completed his inspection, he sent me an e-mail to let me know that he did not find any structural damage only settlement cracks. Barry then sent me an electronic copy of his final report with an e-mail letting me know that he mailed 3 official raised-seal copies of the report as well. The report contained high resolution photos with documentation regarding every crack he found in the home next to the photo. All-in-all, Barry made this an amazing experience. Barry is an amazing person who ensures that he does top quality work for the best price for his customer. His company does not believe in success based on quantity but quality and it shows in everything he does. Not only that, he gives you 30 days to pay because he knows the cost of moving and buying a new home. We sent his check immediately because we were so happy with the promptness of his service and him as a person. $500.00 is not a lot to pay for peace of mind. If you are in need of a structural engineer, call Barry at Pinnacle engineering and consulting. He will take excellent care of you.

In addition to the standard home inspection service, my RE agent recommended I have a structural engineer come out. The home had a sinkhole 14 years ago, but there is little to no paperwork available now. I called their office and had to leave a message, but my call was returned within 2 minutes. As soon as I gave them the details, they began looking online for more information. I was impressed. I remained impressed throughout the process. They were prompt, thorough, polite, and explained what I should expect about their work and the report. Once the inspection was done and the report was sent to me, they followed up to see if I had any questions. Not only do I feel better about the purchase, the report provided additional support to send to the insurance company. I have already passed their information along to a neighbor with some structural concerns of her own.

They were $500 a piece. Very professional. The structural engineer did a very thorough job documenting the condition of my foundation. Took lot of photographs provided a professional report. With the kind of documentation and opinion he provided he really helped me sell the home and overcome some issues I had.

Mohammad spent twenty six minutes at my home shaking his head as to why the old existing truss system was done the way it was fifty years ago. His analysis was he wouldn’t touch the job, but gave us the name of another engineer that possibly could help us. He wanted me to pay him $250 an hour for his non-advice. I refused to pay him for coming out to tell me nothing. As he was leaving, he said if I’m not paying him do not call the referral he gave me. I had not intended to use any one this man would recommend. He has since filed a small claim suit against me.

He is great. He is the most thorough contractor and engineer that we have came across. He was on-site everyday to make sure everything was being done to specifications. We are actually working with him now and he has helped us locate all of the service providers that we are going to use. He will be overseeing the project on our behalf. I would highly recommend him for any structural engineering or construction projects.

CAlpha Structural, Inc.
I was in a short Escrow and needed a structural engineer on short notice to review the foundation. Unfortunately Alpha only does this kind of thing two days a week and didn't have anything available for two weeks. Also, I submitted my online inquiry on Thursday and it wasn't until Tuesday when someone got back to me. I was looking forward to hiring this company because of such great reviews, but was disappointed when I could not be accommodated. I suggested to the company that they do these kinds of inspections more than twice per week, or have short notice spots available for others in similar situations to mine.

Being Realtors, we are always searching for high quality people to help us with issues that arise with our home selling and buying. Trying to find a Structural Engineer that is willing to drop everything and evaluate a problem found in the initial home inspection, is a daunting task. We found Justin on Angie's List and he is everything that previous reviews stated. He was more than willing to work within our time frame, was on time this morning for the appointment, was professional and proficient in analyzing and recommending what needed to be done. We highly recommend him for any contractor/structural issues you may want fixed or built. We are grateful to have found him and plan on using him many times in the future. Even the listing agent was so impressed, she asked for his cards and plans on using him to fix the issue that came up with this house.

I called this company after doing research on Angie's List. I spoke to the receptionist regarding my problem with moisture/water leaking in through foundation and damaging my hardwood floors. She transferred me to her project manager's voicemail. I left a message for this project manager, but never heard back from her. Since I didn't hear back from her, I had to call Bracken again, this time I got through to the project manager. I explained to her my problem, but she was not very patient in explaining how the process would work, what her company would be doing, etc. All she stated was, " it will be around $2200-2500 for us to come out to take a look at it". I then called another structural engineering firm(also from angie's list), they were so much better, they explain what they would be doing when they come out to the house. I was on the phone with them for about 25 minutes and made an appointment for them to come out.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS COMPANY DID WHAT THEY DID; PERHAPS THEY WERE TOO BUSY FOR A PROJECT LIKE OURS AFTER THE HURRICANES. WHAT BOTHERED ME THE MOST WAS THAT NO EXPLANATION WAS OFFERED FOR THIS HUGE INCREASE WHEN THE ESTIMATE WAS RE SUBMITTED TO US IN OCTOBER AND NO REASONABLE EXPLANATION WAS EVER OFFERED. THE COMPANY'S ONLY RESPONSE WAS TO FED EX ME A LETTER RETRACTING ANY OFFERS TO DO BUSINESS WITH US!

DEMA Structural Forensic Engineers
EMA was condescending and rude. I emailed them for information and pricing. Their quote for consulting and providing papers for permitting was $2,250, triple the price of what multiple contractors told me it would cost to ACTUALLY remove the wall ($750). I was surprised. I thought for sure they thought I was a big commercial place or it was a bigger job than it was, so I emailed back to confirm. Their response was awful, condescending and really rude. Here are the emails word for word: Hello, I'm trying to find a structural engineer to tell me if a wall in my home is load bearing or not, and if it can safely be removed. Do you do that kind of work? I'm in Clearwater, FL, and I'm having a really hard time trying to find a professional to look at it. Any help you could give me would be appreciated. All the best, (my name) ________________ Yes, we do this type of structural work. The engineer visit will be billed at $750.00 and if we need to do any calculations and prepare plans for permits it will be additional $1500.00 Maria Kalim EMA Structural Forensic Engineers ________________ Oh wow. Just to look at the wall and attic space in my little house? That seems like a lot. I mean, it would probably only take 30 minutes, if that, for a pro to take a look. All the best, (my name) ________________ Engineers don't come to your house for free. You shall look for a Chinese one or some bonded labor. ________________
