Recent Review: Bill was at my house last summer. It was a very simple fix. He went up under the house and immediately found it. He and I both went together to a home improvement store, got the piece, came back and put it on. What stands out is that he is 100-percent honest. He does everything by the book. He built a carport, a screen room and a shed for me. He did it all to code and did it in a timely fashion. The only thing that took any time was waiting for the stupid inspection from the city. He knows the different code inspectors in the different cities so he does pretty well with them.  He gets the materials at a very discounted price. He incorporated the shed into the screen room instead of having to pay about $1,000 more to pour a concrete slab out the back. He got that done and saved me about $5,000. I had made phone calls to different companies and none of them would come out to look at the square footage. It was all over the phone. The first bid was about $16,000 and the last one was about $20,000. He was recommended to me by someone in the office of the mobile home community where I live. After doing one small job for me he asked if he could bid on my carport, screen room and shed project. I told him yes and he came back with his bid.  Of course, being a businessman I got him to come down and finally we agreed to a price. I even added extras on and I think I came out at about $11,000. The thing is just great. We are close to the same age and he knows some people I know in Ft. Lauderdale so actually we are friends now. So whenever I have home issues I call Bill up and he comes over as soon as he can. Bill Gizzi is a great guy. His son works with him and he does excellent, excellent work.  I can't say enough good things about Bill.

All County Contractors Inc
Recent Review: We've used this company once before a while ago and we were very pleased.  They recently completed a remodel of our newest acquisition and it's beautiful.  As previous customers, we also received a nice discount.  We did get an estimate for comparison from Home Depot on the kitchen.  All County was about 30% cheaper and the cabinets were beautiful.  They also included self closing drawers and soft close hinges at no additional charge.  They're very punctual and professional from the salesman to the tradesman.  There were very few time from beginning to end when they did not have men on the job.  Their granite division is excellent and so is there price.  They're also very attentive at cleaning up daily.  We weren't living there yet which probably is why there is little time overrun, but nothing bad.  Also, I'm sure that they would have been as least intrusive as possible.  In our book you could do a lot worse.

I have remodeled over 50 homes in the last 10 years.  I usually use my own subs and manage the projects with my partner, so I have a pretty good idea of what things cost.  We were doing a garage conversion and front facade change to our house.  Last year, we remodeled the entire home and it took so much time away from me that my wife thought it might be a good idea to hire a GC to do the work this time.  Since I did spend a lot of time on my house last year and this was a pretty small project, I figured, why not, let me get a quote.  Manny has been communicating with us via facebook for probably over a year now.  He has been seeing some of the work we do and has asked us to consider using him on future projects.  So I thought, let me give the guy a chance.  After sending him the plans and waiting a couple of weeks for an estimate, this guy sends it to me.  First of all, I had already priced everything out.  It was going to cost me about $70,000 with all the finishes. We're talking about a simple garage conversion where we are adding drywall, a bathroom, a closet and 2 windows.  We just did the exact same thing in another house and it cost us about $22,000.  The front is a little more complicated because there would have to be a new retaining wall and some structural work.  It's a pretty high end remodel to modernize an old cottage style house and give it a nice high wall, sleek line look with wood and metal accents.  Fine.  Priced out at around $50,000.  Are you sitting down while you're reading this?  This guy sent me an estimate of $256,000.  And it was not a typo.  He marked every single item up like 400%.  Then he had the audacity to charge a $10,000 project management fee, a $25,000 overhead fee and a $25,000 "profit."  This was the single most offensive quote I have ever gotten from anyone and I have more experience in this business than most.  I'm not sure what he was trying to accomplish here.  I can fathom, maybe, giving a quote like this to someone who doesn't understand the business, but he has been following us and our projects for a year on FB.  I mean, the guy charged me ridiculous prices on things, like $25,000 on decorative wood slats that will cost me maybe $2-3,000. Like that.  Not even in the same planet.  When I called him out on it, he didn't even respond.  I guess he figured he would either rip me off and make a ton of money or he would upset me and never have to deal with me again.  Terrible.  Tread carefully.  Below is my response to the provider response to my review. First of all, yes, I have been remodeling homes for 10 years.  But they are my homes.  Every property I've ever remodeled has been for a property that I own.  Last I checked, I don't need a license to do work on my own properties and regardless, my partner is a GC and we work with licensed contractors for all our work.  I am not a GC nor am I doing work as a GC.  I have never charged anyone for GC work .  Just so you get an idea of who you're dealing with here, this man has come back here to rebuttal by wrongly accusing me of committing a Felony offense.  He has come on here and knowingly misquoted me.  I had never "spoken" to this man, before this review.  He flat out lied about that.  He said when I've called, he's always responded.  The first call I made to this person was last night after I read the response he posted.  All of our communications before have been via email.  He lied about that. He lied about not getting access to my house.  He never requested a field visit.  He lied about the $6,000 quote for the wood. I have his estimate that clearly shows $25,000 for decorative wood.  And that is not even the worst item on the estimate. It's not about if I didn't like the estimate I don't have to do the work.  It's that he knowingly price gauged us. His estimates didn't come in a few dollars higher than anyone else's.  He came in 400% higher.   He asked why I wasted his time if I had already priced this out. Is it that hard to understand that while I had priced it out I wanted to get an estimate from other GC's to see if it was worth using them? He's not the only estimate I received.  I'm not sure what's so difficult to understand here. Then he comes on here and insults me with libelous and false comments, he sends me a private email demanding that I remove my review. He claims that I went "behind his back" with this review when I clearly sent him an email the same day he sent me his estimate and instead of responding, he simply went and blocked us from his facebook, which I find to be completely ridiculous. He is claiming here, on the web, for all to see, that I am a Real Estate Broker working as a GC. He finishes his tirade by telling me that I don't know what I'm doing.  This is the kind of person that you are dealing with, so my review remains the same.  Tread carefully.
