Recent Review: We had a great experience with Alan.  He was organized and reliable.  We live out of town and were able to do everything from beginning to end without actually meeting him.  We worked the entire contract through email or phone calls. We purchased the materials from Home Depot. He picked them up and installed the vinyl plank flooring in the 4 bedrooms,  including their corresponding walk-in closets and bathrooms. He first leveled the floor as needed.  Since these were vinyl planks, it was really important that the planks be tight and installed correctly so they last and don't lift up.  We had removed the carpet and old baseboards ourselves so it was ready for installation when he arrived.  Between him and the tenants they moved the furniture into the living room as needed.  We also wanted new baseboards installed in the entire apartment.  He again picked up the materials at Home Depot, painted the baseboards and caulked them.  We also found him to be honest.  At one point the scope changed and he adjusted the price down so as not to overcharge us.  When we finally were able to get to Gainesville to  see the flooring, we were very pleased.  He did a great job.  He did exactly what he said he would do. We would definitely use him again!

Recent Review: These guys are great! Professional, punctual, courteous. Best, they are SKILLED. Chris cuts in a straight line (against a contrasting background) better than anyone I've seen, and there were very few drips or smears. These guys work hard and smart. I have no complaints. The price was fair -- we ended up changing the terms of the contract a couple of times, to our mutual satisfaction. Overall a very positive experience.

Recent Review: From start to finish, this is a great company to work with. After finding them on AL, I called to make the free consultation for an estimate. A date was set up and the owner, Curtis, showed up right on time. As I walked him through the house explaining what I wanted (which ended up being pretty abstract on some things) he took notes and made suggestions on things I wasn't sure of. He understood exactly what I was saying which was good because I wasn't 100 percent sure how to explain what I wanted in some areas! Within a few days, we received the estimate, which I thought was very competitive and reasonable. I also called 2 other Angie's List companies for estimates. Since this is about CJ, I won't go into those negative stories, but the estimate I got from one was a little higher (I never heard back from the other one) so I feel CJ’s price was good and fair. About 2 weeks after I received and accepted their contract, they commenced work. They explained they couldn't start sooner due to a job they were already working and told me they like to work straight through on a job so they can finish it fast and not bounce between 2 or 3 projects (like many companies do and really annoys me). That was good with me! I can't say enough about the quality of their work and hardworking, friendly employees. Curtis was there the first day to make sure the wall removal went right and checked in on most days. He also helped me make some aesthetic decisions I wasn't completely sure of like the column size/placement, how much wall to remove at the entrance and the direction of the tile. Within 4 weeks, the work was complete to my total satisfaction (including final inspection) and we received our final invoice. The 4 weeks was largely due to me or they probably would have been done in a week. I changed my mind numerous times on various things. I would call their office and talk to Lynette (VP and office Jack of all trades) and say "I think I want to add this or change that." She always responded pleasantly with No Problem, listened patiently to me ramble on (with lots of self-doubt on my decision making!) and never made me feel like I was being a pain, which I know I was LOL. Also, part of the holdup was our decision on tiling part or all of the areas except bedrooms AND selection of the tile. Picking a tile was super important to me and took me over 2 weeks which delayed their work and disrupted their work schedule, but they never pressured me to hurry. There was also a minor mistake due to a pinched wire which required a small removal of part of a wall in 3 areas. This was repaired immediately and it looks incredible. You would never know where it was replaced because their guy was absolutely amazing. In fact, all of his employees were excellent. They were conscientious, polite and always cleaned up any mess they made. One of the other things I love is how the floor turned out. It looks amazing and Ben, their employee who laid the tile, is an artist! He also consulted me on the direction of the tile (adding his much appreciated expert opinion as well) and really analyzed the project before even starting. It was a tedious process because with plank tiles, not only is it more important to have the grout lines absolutely perfect, you have to watch out for lippage due to the length of plank tiles. I've walked the floors, sliding my feet across and it feels perfect. The cuts he made around corners, etc. are impeccable. Also, tiling the kitchen was difficult because we have a wall dividing the kitchen from the family room. So, coming from the family room, he had to tile from the dining room on one side and the breakfast nook on the other and meet in the kitchen. It was perfect! I really love the floors and the more open look of my house! The walls turned out fantastic, it's great to be able to see out to my family room when washing dishes and I love the column. Everything turned out just as I wanted! Thank you Curtis, Lyn and team! From start to finish (and resolving the final punch list especially the vent in the guest bathroom!) you never disappointed. CJ Custom Carpentry is a top notch company that I would recommend to anyone and plan to use for any future remodeling.

In early April of 2014, my wife came home to find our house 95% flooded because of a broken water line from the refrigerator ice maker.  Panicked, I quickly did some internet research and settled on Gainesville Restoration & Remodeling.  After speaking to Russ Mills, I was initially impressed as he and his team arrived within 30 minutes of my phone call and immediately began the demolition and removal of the waterlogged baseboards, drywall, and flooring.  After removing the standing water and placing dozen of air blowers, dehumidifiers, and air filters, I felt we were in good hands.  Russ calmly told me after the initial drying process everything would be alright and "this will be a quick process" to restore and remodel the home.  Our entire house was packed into our garage and then a generic brand "Pod" that was left in our driveway.  I thought and was told this was standard procedure.  That's when things started to fall off the rails.  Russ and his team seemed overworked and stretched with too many other jobs.  Random subcontractors were frequent visitors to our abandoned home with little or no communication prior and hardly any supervision.  My calls and text messages were infrequently returned.  The drywall repair was completed in a reasonable time and the painters repainted what they could.  The electrician was top notch and the tile setter for our back splash was excellent.  However, everything else took way too long.  The wood flooring took several weeks to arrive and nearly a week to install.  As the weeks turned to months and spring turned to summer, we periodically checked the contents of our "Pod" only to find ants running through our belongings because GRR carelessly packed our entire pantry inside.  Sometimes I would drop by to check on the home after work to find the subcontractors had left doors unlocked or wide open for insects and roaches to traverse freely.  Our replacement kitchen cabinets were installed carelessly which then affected the granite reinstallation.  The fine details were a difficult, laborious task for GRR to complete.  The bottom line regarding this restoration; it took 2 months to move back into the home to where we could live in it again.  It took 5 months for the punch list to finally be completed and the final insurance check to be handed over to GRR.  While this process took way too long and Chris Pickering, the owner of GRR was shockingly unconcerned about receiving either of their payments from me and my insurance company, we did finally end up with a beautiful and improved home.  Or so we thought... Fast forward to late February 2015.  I woke up to find yet another flood in my home, this time originating between a bathroom and closet wall.  I called a different restoration company and when the plumber arrived to find the source of the leak, I was flabbergasted by the cause.  When GRR replaced our baseboards after the first flood, they managed to shoot a finish nail through a copper pipe that supplies the cold water to the aforementioned bathroom sink (the nail was way too long for the location and I was later told that the baseboard should have been glued to the wall in that location).  It took about 9 months for the nail to rust through the pipe, but once it did, our home was ruined once again!  2 major floods in less than a year and yes, our insurance company is threatening to drop us!  In using a different restoration company this time around we have learned about all the shortcuts GRR took in rebuilding our home the first time around.  If we only knew. This is only a fraction of the countless things I could complain about regarding our experience with GRR.  Missed deadlines, broken promises, careless workmanship, and non-existent supervision.  And after the negligence which has caused our 2nd flood, I wish I could give them a F- rating.  Do not touch this contractor with a 10 foot pole.  RUN, don't walk away from this one.

These gentlemen were referred to me by a friend who had had some remodeling work done by them and she gave them a high rating. I contacted them and they gave me a bid on installing the wood floor. I received other bids that were comparable, but decided to use them because of the referral of a friend and what she told me about the quality of their work. I bought the product, prepared the subflooring myself for installation, and they installed the floor and installed the baseboard to finish the project. The work was completed in the time quoted, they arrived when stated and in general a couple of nice guys to work with. Their work is meticulous to detail, high quality and they are very professional. I am in the process of getting another estimate from them for some other work I want done in my house.

First, I want to say that Mike and his entire team of workers were extremely nice to work with and proved to be very honest and trustworthy.  They were all the kind of individuals that you felt completely comfortable having in your home ... cooperative, hard-working, honest and professional.  The only negative is that some of the workers in his employ had higher standards for their work than others.  I found that when I requested certain workers, the craftsmanship and quality were excellent.  There were two incidents where another individual accomplished the repair, but it wasn't done with the care and quality that we expected.  Mike was more than cooperative in these incidents and did his best to rectify the unsatisfactory work (without charging extra, I might add, for the time and materials it took to re-do the work).  We couldn't expect a nicer, more fair individual than Mike Hill and thought his group of workmen were all very likeable and pleasant to work with.

Garry was one of God's greatest blessings to me. I bought a house and needed it painted among other things. I met Garry and immediately knew that he was the man I wanted to make my new home beautiful! Little did I know that having Garry in my house would take me on a journey that I never expected! Garry spent 4 weeks in my then vacant house. He was there 12 hours a day,7 days a week. He literally moved his hotplate, fresh food and big jugs of water right in! (I think my house still misses him!) I kept in touch with him on a continual basis so I always knew what he was doing and he always took the time to let me know what was happening and if there were any issues. Garry was always punctual, unfailingly polite and an overall good man. My house looks amazing after having Garry do a complete interior paint job from the ceilings to the floor. But that was just the beginning of the journey! I had other things that needed to be done for my reno. It seems that Garry has abilities that I never saw coming! He ended up pulling the carpets up from all 3 bedrooms so that the baseboards would look better when painted with new carpet, took up vinyl flooring in my laundry room, replaced all the door handles, removed a passthrough window in my kitchen and removed a large decorative shelf in the living room. Anything I said I needed done Garry always said he could do! In the same calm and efficient way he always presented. He's very knowledgeable and extremely skilled . I always trusted him to do the best job for less money and was never disappointed. Garry takes his time with every job and it shows in the details. Garry, you're an overall wonderful man who God gave me the joy of knowing. I can't thank you enough for all that you did in my new home. God bless you,Garry- I sincerely hope that your future clients appreciate your many God-given gifts.

AA & M Restoration Corp
I was fortunate to find this company on Angie's List in October of last year.  I cannot say enough about the positive experience and quality of work provided to me by A & M Restoration Corporation during the renovation and reconstruction of my 30 year-old home.  Art and Dee took a house that was in great need of upgrading and repair, and turned it into a home that I absolutely love.  With their expertise, advice, patience, and skills, I turned a vision of what I wanted my house to be into a home that has exceeded my expectations.  It has taken about six months to complete this project and I am thrilled with the results.  Art and Dee work with an amazing team of talented professionals including Jeff who installed the beautiful tiling and Gary Stedham who did an incredible job with the painting.  They truly transformed this house.  Art actually went with me to help pick out the tiling and the window blinds.  He also contracted with a local cabinet company called Mica Works that designed and installed the kitchen cabinets and counter tops.  Mitch Simard of Mica Works took hours to educate me on the design and construction of kitchen cabinetry.  He measured the kitchen space and designed the cabinets according to my specifications and the size of the room.  I met many times with Mitch as we went over the design plan to ensure that I got exactly what I wanted for the layout and function of the kitchen.  The quality of the cabinetry and the results of the design are truly outstanding. Everyone who sees the new kitchen comments on how beautiful it is and how well it turned out.  I am extremely pleased with the craftsmanship and quality of the woodworking in the crown molding around both sets of French doors and in the new staircase banisters.  In addition, Dee used his woodworking skills to create an amazing spice rack which he built into my pantry, and to reshape the banisters on the front porch stairs.  Gary did a fantastic job with the painting and he was wonderful to work with.  He did an outstanding job on my 18 foot ceilings and walls, and the entire house looks clean and brand new. Art, Dee, and the entire renovation and construction team were nothing but professional.  They showed up when they said they would be here and on time, they were always pleasant and polite, they made progress on the work every day that they were here, they cleaned up after themselves, and they kept in contact with me constantly throughout the entire process.  All procedures and estimates were clearly stated and written into the contract.  In addition, I have to thank Art, Dee, and the team for their patience as I added additional requests to their list of tasks and they accommodated me without hesitation.  They all were so helpful in educating and advising me, and guiding me through this process.  Everything that they suggested or proposed that we do turned out to be right on target.  As a result, I now have a home that I truly love coming home to.  I highly recommend this company and these professionals to anyone considering a renovation, remodel, or new construction on a home or property.  I will be using their A & M Restoration Corporation in the years to come and, in fact, will be using their services to build a new backyard patio in the coming months.  Great work and great results!
