I met Mr. Lanier at Lowe's and he was on time, but informed me that another job has run over and he would not be able to start my project until Monday 10/15. Cost of supplies came to just over $500.00 and then I spent $230.00 for 5 gallons of paint. The crew was supposed to show around 7:30 Monday morning and did not show until about 9am. It was a two person crew and no Mr. Lanier. On Monday they accomplished painting the foyer and stairwell. I spoke with the lead guy and asked if they did two coat and was told yes. I spoke with Mr. Lanier on the phone and explained that the paint looked horrible and you could see all the roller marks going in every direction. He spoke with his lead guy on the phone and the lead guy told Mr. Lanier they still needed to do a second coat. Tuesday the same two guys showed up at about 8:30 in the morning and they "fixed" the paint, framed in the hole for the doors, hung the doors, and hung the sheet rock. They tried to just patch the paint instead of applying a second coat, and I spoke to the lead guy regarding the sheet rock because it was sticking out quite a bit from the existing wall. I was assured that this would be fixed with mudding. I again spoke with Mr. Lanier on the phone and explained my concerns, he assured me as well that the job would be done to my satisfaction and asked for 1/2 the money due so that he could pay his guys and I wrote a check for $1500.00. Wednesday the same two guys showed up around the same time as usual. On this day they leveled the doors, hung the trim, and installed the baseboards. They were also supposed to paint the foyer again from floor to ceiling. The door was fine, the trim around the door was crooked and had to be pointed out to them which they fixed the following day, one of the baseboards installed was so obviously crooked and I was told why it was that way and that it couldn't be fixed, and they painted with the new batch of paint starting about a foot from the ceiling line so that there is a slight color difference that can be seen. There was also a VERY noticeable seam all around where they mudded the sheet rock. This was communicated to Mr. Lanier and the workers. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday were spent with the same two guys mudding, sanding, painting over and over trying to get the seams not to show. On Saturday afternoon I returned from the store and the guys were waiting on me for final payment. Upon inspection, the crooked baseboard wasn't fixed, the wall wasn't fixed, the trim was only primed, and no paint on the trim. I called Mr. Lanier (who was out of town) and asked him to come over on Monday before I would write the final check. Mr. Lanier said no problem and he would meet me Monday morning. After the guys left, I noticed a voice mail from Mr. Lanier who thought he was leaving a message on his Leads phone stating for them to get the h**l out of there and that he would deal with me on Monday and that he was p***ed. On Monday morning, Mr. Lanier showed up on time and looked at the work. He was very appologetic to me and stated he was upset with his guys. He assured me this could be fixed and then mentioned the two workers. I told him that they had enough time to fix it and they weren't able to get the job done and that I did not have faith they could do it. He said "no,no, I will do this, I will fix this. Six hours, and I am sure you will be happy". He explained that he had to go do an emergency job and would be back in an hour. He then said that I could leave a check with my mother who was staying at my house because I could not be there. I said no because I wanted to see the work for myself and he tried again to tell me how happy I would be and that I could just leave a check. I again told him I would not leave a check. He gave instructions to the two workers and left for his emergency. I checked in with my mother throughout the day and Mr. Lanier had not returned. When I got home in the evening, the workers were gone and Mr. Lanier had never showed. The baseboard was still crooked, the trim still was not painted, and the wall looked worse than when I left that morning. I called Mr. Lanier and asked why he lied to me when he said that HE was going to fix this and he told me that Monday was a busy estimates day for him. I told him what had been done, or rather not done and he once again went into his BS about how he could fix this and he has all the faith in his lead guy and that they are waiting for the new mud to dry...blah, blah, blah. He is all talk and no action. I told him to not have his guys return and that if he wanted his final payment, he would need to take me to court. He then claimed that I have not given him a chance to fix the problem and that he will take me to court and put a lien on my house. I will mention also that his guys did not tarp the openings before sanding so now my house is covered in dust and both my AC units have to be cleaned because the coils are caked in dust. What a nightmare...this guy isn't qualified to change the toilet paper in my house. Do yourself a favor and stay away unless you like drama and poor quality of work. I wish there was a lower rating than F.
