Recent Review: Had a water softener that was transferred from my old house. My wife got the pressure washer wand too close to the control panel and blew in the LCD. Water was able to damage the control board, and the softener has been non-functioning ever since (6+ months). Called out Filtration Direct about repairing the softener, as it originally cost me $3,000+ in 1999. Found out that the water softener had major damage, and it would be cheaper to buy a new one, plus the new one would be warranted. Weighing my options, we decided to buy the new softener. Filtration Direct was able to schedule a timely install compatible with my schedule. Showed up on time, performed the work professionally, walked us through the operation of the system, and removed the old system without issue. They filled up the new system with salt and left a few extra bags of salt at no charge. Overall install was right around an hour and we could feel the benefits (softer water) over the next few days (due to the hot water tank needing to emptied and refilled with soft water). Plus, the new softener has improved materials that won't be damaged by the outdoor installation. Very pleased.
Recent Review: It was great Jack was there on time . He installed it for me and explained how it works. He took the time to check to make sure i fully understood everything. He was patient with me and answered all my questions.
Excellent price, continued service and great warranty. I would recommend this company to any one wanting a water softening system.

It went great. Joe showed up on time and had new install done in the time he said it would take and with a reasonable price as well. Everyone I spoke to there was very pleasant and helpful. The woman I scheduled the appointment with even called back to ask the name of the product being installed so they could research any special requirements ahead of time. I was impressed with their thoroughness and fair pricing, and I have found my plumber in my new home.

Upon initial call I informed Filtration direct of the desire to install my water softener. I never had a softener before so I had a used unit that a friend have provided to us. This unit was in perfect working order when given to us. Our conversation detailed a price of 225.00 to 250.00 dollars with it being the latter if something caused the incursion of additional materials. He told me that they would test the unit first before installation to ensure "everything was good with the unit" first. I told him that I did not have power available and he told me that this was no problem as he could take care of it. I assumed this meant installing an outlet. This is where it all goes bad. The tech comes and I show him the unit and that the power chord had been severed. I told him when I called they said that this was "No problem" and he said he would fix the issue. I left the tech to do his work and returned to him after a while to check progress. He had dug a hole for the tank and placed it. The unit was facing at a 45 degree angle from the house. It was a hoorible look. I asked him why place it in such a manner and he informed me that because the pipping extended so far out the back he had to place it in such a manner. I asked why not adjust the amount of pipe and he said he couldn't do it because of the size of the pipe???? I then asked why not build his hole a few more inches out so the unit could face straight. This was the problem I believe is that he miscalculated the spacing and didn't want to rebuild the hole. He finally agreed to this and rebuilt the hole so the unit could face straight. I again left him to work as he needed access to my house to create a power supply outside. He gets access to my room and carries a drill and we discuss how to run power out door. I told him he could use the walking closet area as this represented the area closest to the unit inside the house. He stated he wanted to use the outlet in my room to my surprise, because it was less drilling. At this point I'm confused still thinking he was going to build an outlet outside. He told me no that he was going to drill a hole to the outside and plug it in an existing outlet. At this point I should of cut him off, but he was almost done and I didn't, stupid on my part. When he was done I had a hanging chord about 3 feet from my unit running along the wall to the hole he drilled. It looks sloppy and unprofessional. He didn't install a conduit or cover over the chord and spliced the the chord with yellow splice caps and zip tied them to the pipes. I wondered about the chords being outdoors with two sliced wires with no protection from the elements. He said that if the wires got wet it wouldn't be a problem as it would be able to dry quickly without electrical tape or any protection. Also the plug he provided had to be plugged upside down as the bottom plug had to be used. The plug would not stay in so he used my dresser to hold it up and stated: "well at least it works". He started the unit and went to set it up. The buttons were not labeled on the mother board so he stated pushing buttons randomly. I later found the button labeling was on the flip cover. I left to attend some yard work as I was getting upset, but figured I could fix the plug, fix the exposed spliced wires, install a cover for the hanging chord. He retrieved me after a few minutes to tell me that the unit was not working and giving an error code. He told me the code was for a bad motor and there was nothing he could do. Also told me my cost was 250.00, not the 225.00, bit that he didn't charge me for the plug since it was very old and "not even a three prong plug". How did we not "test the unit to ensure it was in working order first" as the owner told me they would do initially? Surely this should of been done first. He left and I went to the unit to see what I could see and I noticed there was an port dripping water onto the tank, and remember him telling me he needed to build a drain line. I called the owner back to ask what this dripping port was and if it was the drain line why wasn't it finished? He told me he would get me the number to the tech so I could call him and ask why the line wasn't installed. At this point I was beyond angry. I asked the tech was his worker or subcontracted and why should I have to call his employee to get him to finish the work. In the end I was charged more, the work is sloppy looking, dangerous, and simply plugging the unit in initially would of saved me 250.00. I never feel the need to write reviews but I did in this case. Terrible company. I should add that the unit was working upon initial plug in with no error codes and I left as he was mashing buttons randomly trying to set the date and time. I am going to speak to my credit card company about getting these charges removed. Stay way from these guys at all costs.

Filtration Direct was the first company to call me back from Angie's List. They came out to give me an estimate in a timely manner. Another company called but never took the time to come give me an estimate and I had two other estimates that were pretty much comparable in price but Filtration Direct included extras the other ones didn't. I decided to go with Filtration Direct - they seemed to be very knowledgeable and they took care of me almost immediately when I called them back to do the job. They redirected some pipes so that the water softener would work both at my house and my barn which was awesome. There were some issues with the way my electric was wired but they got it done temporarily so it would work, and then sent back their guy back with the needed parts to get it done within a week (he came in the pouring rain but still got the job done). They hauled off all the old equipment (with the help of my tractor as the salt tank was completely full and solid as a rock), and they also cleaned out my filters and anything that was stained with iron, which was a plus. I was shown how the softener operates and the well tank they put on was much larger (which was badly needed) than the old broken one. I am happy with the water softener and there is virtually no maintenance other than adding salt. It also solved my iron problem as well. A few days after they put the new electrical box on my water shut off and was not sure if it had to do with the wiring (which is was not). I checked the breaker box and it was fine so I called them back. I got a call back within minutes and a couple hours they came out. It was a bad switch on the well pump. They replaced it and fixed the problem...thankfully as if was Friday late afternoon. I am very happy with all the work that was done, they were excellent with communication and got back to me very quickly, and overall I give them a top rating. Their prices were fair, they are very experienced, and I feel they went above and beyond which is a nice change from what most companies offer.

Installation was exceptional. Explanation of how system operates and what customer needs to do to maintain system functionality was exceptional. System is functioning exceptional. I gave a B rating on quality as 3 days is simply not long enough to give accurate rating of quality. For the 3 days it has been operational I would rate the system as an A. Hoping to come back in 6mo to a year and upgrade my B rating to an A.

He is very good in scheduling if it is an emergency case. But, if it is for routine check, scheduling is not good.

I had one in my old house in Illinois that I recently sold. When I moved to this house I knew that I wanted another one so I went ahead and purchased one right away and had them install it. I am very satisfied with it.
