This was a great experience. We selected this company after narrowing it down from 4 companies that I had researched on Angie's List and other reviews from alternate sources. Roche had the most competitive price, but we were also impressed with their sales person, Ephraim, and his presentation, thoroughness and professionalism. The final factor was the shingle manufacturer's (GAF) complete roofing system and "Golden Pledge Warranty" which basically means that GAF stands behind the product and workmanship for 20 years - even if the original roofing company goes out of business. After speaking with Ephraim the 1st time, I went to the GAF website and checked out all their information and the warranty. It was exactly as Ephraim explained and I was very impressed. After signing the contract, the work was started within about 3 weeks - just as Ephraim estimated. They began on a Monday and finished in 8 days on the following Wednesday. Since this is S. Fla. and we are in the rainy season, I think that was pretty good. On a couple of days, they had to stop for a rain shower, but they always covered any part of the roof that was exposed. I could tell it was a priority and since I previously read horror stories about that, I was very happy with their diligence. The employees working on the roof were dressed in company uniforms and were friendly, but professional. Most of them only spoke Spanish, but there was always at least 1 person there who could speak English and that was fine with me. I also never had a problem contacting the Project Manager, Robert and he was always good in addressing any concerns I had. My husband was out of town and I was handling everything the first week, so I had a lot of questions and between Robert and Ephraim, my concerns were all taken care of. I personally think all the employees worked very hard and never saw them just standing around. At the end of each day, they cleaned up the yard and tins/nails with a magnetic device. I will admit we did still find a few in the yard, especially around shrubs, but I think that is expected. I appreciated the way they cleaned up each day. The 1st day they tore off the roof and started replacing wood. They did 1 side of the peak at a time so they could start "drying it in" right away with the felt paper so if it started raining, it wouldn't leak. Luck was with us and they were able to dry in the entire peaked roof by the end of the 2nd day. Since there was a lot of rotten wood that also had to be replaced, that was also very impressive. Then they started on the flat roof. Our flat roof is over the garage and patio and has exposed tongue and groove wood that you can see if you look up so there was a concern that the nails would show through, even if they tried to make sure they didn't. Apparently there is code to follow for the shorter nails that would have to be used and some other issues that could involve splitting our 40 plus year old wood. Ephraim has previously suggested adding plywood to the top side that would solve all the issues and we did decide to do that even though it added $1000 to the roof. The additional cost for rotten wood was $1844, but even adding that in to the original quote, we still came to $15,594 which was close to the other quotes we got without any wood being replaced. I personally saw the wood they were replacing and it definitely was rotten. Our roof had been leaking in a few places so I knew there would be rotten wood. They finished on time even after stopping work for a day or 1/2 day for inspections (3 of them I think) and the roof looks great. Very good workmanship I think and my husband was very impressed too. Ephraim came out again to finish up on the paper work with us and do a quick inspection of the roof with my husband and make sure we didn't have any concerns or questions. The county inspector had already approved the final inspection so we knew it was good. Also, a representative from GAF came out to our house and inspected the roof about 3 weeks after it was complete to ensure it met their standards (it did). It was just a great experience with a top notch company and I would definitely recommend them to anyone in the future.
