We have an 8000 s.f. home with extensive stone and marble floors, baths, kitchen, etc. After eleven years the grouting in the most used areas was deteriorating, chipping, discolored, etc. Floors were dull and in some areas had really ground in dirt. We were very concerned about finding someone to bring everything back to new and to a level consistent with the quality of the home and furnishings. Our previous experiences were very disappointing, paying lots of money for superficial work and a lot of clean-up left up to us. We picked Jean's company, J.B. Marble Restoration, based upon Angie's list reviews. Though we've had consistent success using Angie's list, this was the best choice yet, by far. Jean responded promptly to our request for a quote. The price was consistent with the amount of work we wanted done. It was going to take him and his associate a full week to complete it all. He arranged his schedule to start the next week and showed up first thing on a Monday morning to get started. They began with two large marble showers and made repairs and, when done, the showers looked better that the day they were new. They then removed and replaced all the grouting in the marble floors, then sealed and polished them. Once again, better than new and that is not an exaggeration. They then tackled the extensive natural stone floors throughout our house. They filled holes, washed, sealed and polished. The floors look amazing. They didn't look nearly this nice the day we moved into our home (which we paid many, many millions of dollars to build). Finally, we have a large marble island countertop. It was originally done with a dull, matte finish. We have always wished that the builder had used a polished stone top like all the other granite countertops in our kitchen. This one has suffered numerous stains from cooking, etc. Jean honed it so all the stains are gone; then he polished to a gleaming finish that it never had originally. It is drop-dead gorgeous and now makes the whole kitchen light up. Amazing! We have a lot of expensive, fragile and, in some cases, large and heavy pieces of furniture. They moved it all and then put it back in place when done. (It makes my back sore thinking about it.) They showed extreme care ensuring no damage happened. They covered all the pathways in our bedroom that would be used to get to the his and hers bathrooms with plastic. All the baseboards were protected with plastic. Drapes were suspended or placed in plastic bags so no cleaning liquids would mark them. I haven't seen any service provider take as much care to ensure that no collateral damage would occur from their work. Jean is a true artisan. He pointed out many things needing repair that our eye had not picked up and used techniques and materials that make a joke of the relative amateurs we'd had used in the past. He has 27 years experience working with stone and it's obvious he has been a good student. He showed us how some problems come about and what to do to avoid them. He instructed how to keep the floors and walls clean and glossy. He even brought us a large container of concentrated cleaner used by professionals and instructed how our housekeeper should use it to maintain the immaculate finish he created. He and his associate worked non-stop from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day including his coming back and working all day on Saturday to finish. I am a perfectionist and Jean met my standard. Believe me, you will not regret hiring him in any way. Whatever your expectations, I assure you he will exceed them. You just don't find service people like this anymore.
