Recent Review: THE GOOD PARTS Alan's first visit, estimated price and the installed fence quality were very good. He did work with us on the association approval, which took a long time. His installer crew was very professional and nice. THE BAD PARTS The quote was for 12 panels and a gate, but the measurement was off and Alan's installer mistakenly put the fence in the wrong place (only by about 1-2 feet), and only 11 panels would fit. When I complained, he said he'd hold our check until the problem was resolved, but deposited it the same day. (strike one) When I asked if we would be receiving a refund for the 12th panel that was not installed, he said we would not because it was quixotically "his cost" even though he sold me a panel that he kept? He did offer to give me the panel which I don't know what I would do with... (strike two) Confused, I pushed back a bit and he offered us a $25 gift card to Publix. I pushed a bit more and asked for what I thought was fair considering the mis-measurement and mis-installation... the prorated cost of the uninstalled panel in our quote... $106.25. He negotiated us down to $100 and said he'd send a check in the mail. I accepted. That was two weeks ago. No check. (strike three) Of course, $100 isn't a lot of money... and there's fresh hope at the mailbox each day... but still the experience was just a bit disappointing from a top-rated Angie's List provider. THE BOTTOM LINE Lots of people seem happy with Alan and FencePro, so I think if the job goes well, he's a solid choice. If there's a problem, however, it's questionable whether Alan will make the ethical choices you would expect. UPDATE: 9/8/2015 After posting this review, I received Alan's response, admission of the 3 mistakes above, and probably most predictably, the $100.00 check... Of course, it's hard serving the general public, and I understand being busy and that things do go wrong and are overlooked... To be honest, I hate having to complain... this is my first ever non-A review... and I waited two weeks to see if the check showed up before posting. I'd even like to change it to an A now, in light of Alan's apologies, but I think that would be unfair to others relying on the objectivity of Angie's List.... At the end of the day, it's a perfectly good fence with a B experience... I think Alan would agree with that. Hopefully, your experience will be an A, and I certainly wish Alan and FencePro the best of luck in trying.
