Let me start by saying my husband and I are obsessive/compulsive, detail driven, planners! This remodel was planned as Phase II of the 2009 room addition so we knew exactly what we wanted to do and how we wanted to do it. Six to nine months from our anticipated start date, we began the process of interviewing contractors. After interviewing two contractors and getting an uneasy feeling, we joined Angie's List and located Mike. There is a "meant to be" backstory that would take pages to explain. Suffice it to say, it was a good fit. Mike met with us a number of times and was at all times patient and professional. We asked a ton of questions and he anticipated those questions that we did not know to ask. We "grilled" him on his anticipated schedule and what would be accomplished in each week. During the first two or three days of construction, they demo'd the space down to brick and concrete. There was a daily parade of plumbers, electricians, HVAC tradesmen. We took daily photos and posted them on Facebook so our family and friends could participate in the process. Mike's attention to detail is impeccable. Because the space flowed into the great room addition, I was especially concerned about a seamless transition of the finishes; i.e., baseboard and trim, and how the wood floors would join the tile. Mike tackled each challenge with an eye for architectural detail. In addition to the excellent quality of worksmanship and attention to detail, they were extremely diligent about keeping the work space clean of construction debris and protecting the non-work spaces. Living like a plastic wrapped episode of "Dexter" for a few weeks was worth it in the end. Finally, Mike and his crew are genuinely nice people, funny, and entertaining! We had a blast and look forward to doing it again when we remodel my bathroom.
