Recent Review: I was very impressed with this company from start to finish. We had kitchen cabinets fall off the wall in the middle of the night. The property is 10 years old and was built by Ryan Homes in Delaware. There was nothing stored on top of the cabinets, and a very light load inside them. Some of the cabinets were dangling.John came out the same day we called and took down the dangling cabinets. We asked him to check the other cabinets that were still hanging and he reinforced them.John showed us that the cabinets that fell had been originally installed improperly and offered to speak to whomever on our behalf, as he stated the builder should be liable for not installing them properly, no matter how long it had been. Some of the cabinets that fell could be reinstalled, and one was broken, and had to be replaced.I did contact Ryan homes and they said there was nothing they could do.Americas Choice Home Improvement offerd to pick up a replacement cabinet for us and try to match the stain, or suggested that they or  we, contact  the original cabinet maker and order a replacement, which is what we ended up doing.John came back out and installed the replacement cabinet and hung the others that fell. Elissa is remarkable, easy to talk to , and was always available. Very trustworthy company.

Recent Review: The demo was very smooth, debris was removed clean up, after everyday of work. They kept me informed at every step and/or bump in the road. That was very important to me. Their estimate was spot on. There are always something that comes up but their honesty was refreshing. They would be my first call when we enter into phase II.

Recent Review: All work was performed following the schedule that was laid out at the beginning of the project--on time and following the costs that were agreed upon at the start. The quality of the workmanship was very good. All of my questions (via phone, e-mail, or text) were addressed and answered almost immediately. These guys truly understand the concept of 'customer service'!

Recent Review: I contacted Larry and he came out for an estimate at the end of the year 2015. We agreed on a start time in February of 2016 - at that time the house was completely empty - no furniture. At the time I lived about 2 hrs away in PA and all communication after construction began was through e-mail (mostly) and phone calls (sometimes). I had very specific instructions on different aspects of the job and all were implemented perfectly, including a pretty tricky shower base without a ledge. Along the project there were minor adjustments required because some of the plumbing of the house inside the walls did not run as expected but it was all worked out and did not impact schedule or cost of the overall project. Parts of the kitchen cabinets needed special attention due to the layout of the walls and basically it looks like custom cabinetry now that it is finished. I had communicated to Larry an absolute date by which the job needed to be done and it was done 2 weeks ahead of that date and within the original budget estimate. I am beyond happy with the quality of the job overall and the interactions with Larry as the project progressed - he kept me updated via e-mail and attached pictures as I was not local to the job site. Friends who have visited me are all very impressed. I would hire Comer Construction again in a heartbeat.

Energy Wizard did a wonderful job! My home looks like a showcase for Better Home and Gardens. I am sending pictures to all my friends and family to show off my beautiful kitchen. The new storm doors make the outside of my home look elegant. Energy Wizard employees were punctual, responsive and professional. All of the materials used are high quality and the work performed is top notch. I am very pleased with the finished product and I would highly recommend Energy Wizard for your next home improvement project.

Agreement; new countertops, cabinets, flooring paint and misc. to include the removal of a 6' wall, add chair rail and crown moulding, The manager,John agreed to remove old cabinets for me to give to my son. They removed them with sledge hammers. I didn't know what all that noise was until I seen the pile of busted wood. They said they weren't told to remove them to save. I told John but I didn't make a big deal of it. Moving on, when the cabinets arrived instead of base cabs for one side there was wall cabs.  They had the wall marked to install them when Istopped them.  They re-ordered the correct cabs.(minor problem). We ordered an  island with an extension to use as a breakfast table. It came without the extension and I let John talk me into accepting it. My first mistake! When installing the corian backsplash on the counter they used clear RTV.They left a gap of at least 1/8 in.. It had to be removed, planed down and properly attached. I told my wife It's time I watch all they do.When installing the floor tile they didn't jamb cut the door frames, they just square cut and angle cut the tiles and used caulk. They also cut tiles in half and INSTALLED them like that. I had to insist those tiles be replaced. The cabinet base frames were box-cut and installed that way. They had to be removed and mitre cut. I was assured they would run the microwave vent into the attic and out the soffet. They put it through my corner cabinet.  In their defense, I didn't see any other way of doing it. They mounted a base cabinet over a floor vent and I found this out later when I noticed the counter top was hot along with      everything in the cabinet. My son fixed it.They installed shoe moulding on top of a floor vent and a piece of drywall. They were ready to caulk the 3/16th in. gap when I had them remove it and found the piece of drywall holding it up. You cant imagine how bad the 4x4 backsplash tile was installed. It was not lined up,had a chipped tile and tiles were sunk in or out past other tiles. (oh yes, I have pictures.) They had to remove the tile and start over. The stove was installed and could not be pushed to within two inches of the wall. The large plug was in the way.  They came back and put an 18" cord on it. It could now be pushed to the wall but couldn't be pulled out. They connected the wire by crawling on the counter and getting behind the stove. They (electricians) seemed mad when I said I need to be able to pull the stove out. Their response "What for?"  It had to be corrected after I talked to the owner..  About a week after I paid them I noticed the stove  vent was not venting. I decided not to call them but to check it myself. When I went to the garage to lower the attic steps I found the steps busted and one step board missing. I managed to get to the attic and this is what I found. Someone had put an oil-soaked piece of plywood in the attic to walk/crawl on and left it there. What a fire hazard. Insulation was strewn around. I called the owner and he had the board removed and the     insulation placed. I showed him the broken steps and he accepted responsibility. After a few weeks I contacted him and he set up an appointment with me, at my house for 1pm on 28 Dec. He never showed nor did he call. Since then I have repaired the pull down steps. It should be noted that during the ongoing work I called and had two different appointments with John. He never showed for either one. When I asked him why he said oh yeah, I forgot..  There are things still wrong but I will not call them again. I have pictures of all that I mentioned except the busted cabinets.   Thank you.

We FIRED him! According to the Insurance Company he accepted their estimates yet was charging us several thousand more. We negotiated with Patrick to get the rate down by us offering to do a lot of the work ourselves. The insurance company gave us a little over $16,000 for the estimate which included, vinyl flooring, kitchen cabinets and counter tops. Patrick's estimate came in close to $20,000 but did not include the flooring, kitchen cabinets or counter tops. We paid him a $3,000 deposit to start the work. He took short cuts on a lot of the work he did. He did not remove the paneling in the laundry room and pantry and just placed the new paneling over it. (See attached photo) We had to tear it all down and once we removed the original paneling found mold growing behind it. We had to treat the mold then put up new paneling. When they were replacing the sub flooring, I discovered mold on the insulation, and his employees were getting ready to just cover it up. They started laying our Cortex flooring and I discovered they had not put down the layer of Luan which the insurance company covered. (see attached photo) We had them take up what they had done lay the Luan then lay the flooring. In laying the flooring, they messed up all the door frames so we had to replace them, they did not cut the bottom of the door frames and slide the flooring under them leaving gaps at each corner of the frames, (see attached picture) They ran several of the same pattern pieces together even after I specifically asked if the new how to lay the flooring and stagger the pattern. The flooring was not installed correctly so we had to pull it all up and redo it. He was supposed to remove our sliding glass door and put the flooring under it, instead they just butted it up to it. The dry wall work was terrible. It was all bubbled and at that point we fired him. He asked me to give him a chance to make the corrections and I said absolutely not. I asked for a refund and he refused, then had the audacity to send my an additional bill for over $2,000. We ended up having to do most of the work ourselves because we did not have the money to hire someone else to finish what he was supposed to do. I have since shown pictures of his work to several contractors who all said the same thing, "It's contractors like him that give us good contractors a bad name". One of the contractors felt so bad for us that he offered to let us use one of his employees to redo the dry wall work at a very minimal price with no profit going to the contractor. I have attached pictures showing the mold on the insulation they were just going to cover up, where you can see the grey paneling they were putting over the existing paneling which was to be removed, (also in this picture you can see where they had started laying the flooring of over the pressed wood), a picture of the mold behind the paneling on the wood and the pipes, the flooring being relayed over the Luan, a picture of my husband working on the reinstall after we pulled the flooring up, a picture showing the pattern on the floor side by side, a picture of the damaged trim, a picture showing all the trim we removed and a picture of the drywall work.
