After examining the inner workings of the washing machine, which is only six years old, they gave me the bad news. They explained that the transmission had burned up and would cost about $600 to replace, and advised that they felt that was cost prohibitive. They stated that the brand of the unit, Kenmore, was not as reliable as a Whirpool; which they could have repaired that day with a new transmission for less money, and they had one on their truck. The two men appeared to me to know their business, so I accepted their advise. They were very detailed in their explanation of how the machine operated and why the problem occurred; in terms I understood. Their policy was that if they did not perform any work that they did not charge even for a service call. I truly appreciated their candidness, and as a result purchased a separated washer and dryer - both Whirpool. These gentlemen drove from the Oceana area into the middle of Norfolk and did not charge me travel costs or a service charge. I would recommend them to anyone needing a washer or dryer repair.
